Chinchilla has many influences. In interviews she has said she really loves pop music. She admires Beyonce and Christina Aquilera, as well as Aretha. Regarding her record deal, she said she retained artistic control. Yesterday on IG she thanked everyone who helped bring this project to life and said it was exactly how she envisioned it. Some people may not like her more pop vibes, but it's her creations you're seeing and hearing. I love it!

I think the "originality" question is tied with what audience she is aiming this song for. Having this playing in the clubs gives the young women there a blast of affirmation that they don't have to be perfectly issue-free to be diamonds worthy of bring treated well. And Chinchilla has her crew with her, stealing back women's self worth from the industry that says "only glamorous youth can be beautiful". Thatis why this video exists. You probably did hit the nail on the head.Webby did a very similar thing with getting painted with a stranger.That is also a story that is from like texas I think. But the story webby did was just a fun story. I don't think it was a real event, but he did use the story in his song. I think chinchilla probably did the same thing. Because she does come from Britain or UK, whichever. I'm not sure I always get confused with those 2 I thought they were pretty much the same area. So that's what an American that's never been away from America knows.

Something I was told once stuck w me. We gravitate to what we see as normal. We feel less anxious when we r dealing w what we see as normal. And that can include when things r toxic. When a person has dealt w toxicity it can feel normal for various reasons. And that’s why we keep being in those relationships cause we’re used to it/see it as normal. We feel uncomfortable when we deal w things that don’t feel normal or what we r used to. Even if those things are not toxic.

I'm nobody or just a regular person with no influence or whatever, but I want to thank you for not only checking out a huge variety of artists and staying true to the "smaller" artists and continue to watch/react to them like Chinchilla. I'm not going to name names here, but another reactor that I was/sort of am still watching did one of her solo songs, says that [the reactor] was [positive feeling] to check out more by her and hasn't reacted to her since even with bringing up her new releases the last couple/few songs. There's more to it for me personally, but I won't get into it. I guess my point is, is that I appreciate that you are true to the artists and not just the numbers they pull in (I get why some do that, but an occasional smaller numbers video won't kill ya, you know?). Kudos and respect to you for that!

I am extremely happy that she got backed by a label but I REALLY hope that doesn't slowly break her down and she looses her originality. I also hope that if they do break her down and take her originality that she is able to catch it and keep herself from losing what it is that we love.

I think a great example of this is the band "Bad Cop Bad Cop" Simple Girl is one of my favorite songs. but there are so many others worth mentioning. "Womanarchist" by the same band. Dead Men Don't Rape by 7 Year Bitch, MAGA by Pussy Riot!, Rebel Girl by Bikini Kill is another gem. I know these won't get your reaction-action. I agree. I like her originality and talent. Not particularly impressed with this performance (even as an "older female"). Chinchilla has such a beautiful, powerful voice. This particular song, IMHO, does not do it justice. I think Cliff got it right. Sounds like a piece made for the clubs. Would have liked to be able to hear the lyrics better as well as her amazing vocals. Video was cool though.
