Little known fact, Troy Baker had food poisoning when recording this, from the Bethesda cafeteria, and asked Todd Howard if he could just shoot the guy instead.
Honestly life imitates life as the original gun vs sword scene was done because Harrison Ford was sick during shooting of Raiders so they worked around their original idea of a whip vs sword fight.
Because guns are not designed as melee weapons they can break, get damaged and so on therefore it only makes sense as a last effort bash/shove melee attack and many games portray like this (left 4 dead, call of duty, cry of fear etc.) In this game's situation it makes more sense to just get a table leg from ground and use that as a melee weapon.
Because why tf would you use it as a melee weapon? In this game they’re only used as such because a majority of guns you pick up in this game don’t have reserves
You know Harrison Ford was actually sick when they filmed that scene in raiders. Originally there was supposed to be a fight between him and the swordsman, but I think he had a case of food poisoning so he asked Spielberg if he could just shoot him instead
Aww, that was a missed opportunity. I remember laughing hard when I got an achievement for shooting a guy in the dick in Robocop Rogue City, which was a funny reference to that movie’s most famous scene.
@@steffan9415 Understand, but it will be awesome to have an achievement, if the player actually pull out the gun to finish off the frenzy pilot with a broken danto or katana
Fun fact: In the scene this bit pays homage to, Harrison Ford was in rough shape, so he just had them shoot the scene with him shooting the warrior. That way he could do the scene quick so that he could get some rest. So that hilariously brilliant scene all cause Ford was ill. Makes it all the funnier; an off-day man with a gun wins any day over an intimidating guy with a sword.
The Banzai cry was a more of a timed charge cry en masse while what you saw is more of a shout coming from sudden encounter of enemy. It would be weird if Soviets shouted Ura every random encounter, no?
Honestly shocked that they referenced this given the controversy around the scene but at least they make it clear that the sword-fighter is the odd one out in this part rather than insinuating that guns were rare in Egypt by this time.
When I got to this part, I walked up to him and beat him up before I realized what the game was trying to do. I actually panicked and reloaded the checkpoint, praying the whole time that I could replay that part. Thankfully, I was able to do it properly the second time around.

I didnt even know he had a katana. When I got to this part the guy was already charging at me as soon as i jumped over the bridge. He wasnt even carrying a katana. game bug maybe???
Funny part, the katana was broken after the shot. The samurai wannabe blocked the bullet with his sword and died anyway because it didn't stop the bullet.
No. The short sword or even Tanto knife is not broken in the game, and the pilot does not block. He goes into attacking position by pointing his blade at Indy. There are other options to fight him in the game, this is not a scripted sequence. You can just disarm him and beat him
@dancinginfernal oh sorry because I was playing cod world at war I remember when the imperial Japanese screams banzai like I played the Pacific campaign before
@@Razzlethegreat They would only do that in organized charges. The screams were demoralizing and terrifying to enemy combatants, doesn't really work in small encounters.

The classic scene when Indy don't give a damn on that Arab Swordsman.
Indiana Jones has a new trick up his sleeve, he has VATS now

This is not a situation in which they would do that.
