I'm from Czechia and I definitely agree that it isn't really a big thing here, most people don't even know it exists. Your personality and pure excitement for every country competing got me from just watching back the final performances to being super invested, watching both semifinals, finals live and rooting for others than my own country. Hope you'll be glad to know you're helping spread the news about the beauty of this contest all across Europe, even in countries that usually don't watch!

Apparently there was some sort of feud between Eva and the head of communications, María Eizaguirre, and the head of RTVE basically decided to back María for some reason, even though Eva is the one who fostered the relationships with all the Benidorm talent. Also, I think there were some rule changes at Benidorm asking all acts to commit to perform in like 5 RTVE TV shows throughout the season, which will make it very difficult for established acts to participate because of scheduling. It all seems laughable really.
Ugh this is horrible if true. Spain can’t possibly win if decisions are being made based off of feuding and not what is best for their entries. That tv commitment thing sounds so stupid. I don’t know any other national final that does that
I would love it if a country who's never won before wins next year. But it would also be pretty funny if Luxembourg come back after years of being absent and win the whole thing. haha.

In Greece also they will set up a National Final where only Greek people (not juries) will be able to select the singer we want to represent us in ESC. A great addition for my opinion. That will aslo attract many people to watch Eurovision.

Since the destitution of Eva Mora twitter eurofandom has been boiling with both incredulity and questions. Something was in the air already because Maria and Eva weren't following each other in social media anymore and altough it was a surprise I didn't expect it will be Eva's head the one that was cut from our delegation. Benidorm Fest at least seems to be still in good hands, i hope the rules for this year doesn't scare big names into entering or artists from 22 and 23 not coming back. I don't want to crawl back in a corner and watch Spain crash again, this two last years have been fantastic.
well ive heard the rules say they have to commit to 4-5 shows, which already people are saying with turn any big artists off. I dont know any other national final that does that. why would they change the format of the show when its already working so well?

Duncan Laurence postponed the release of his new album because he is too tired, disappointed and really sad. Dutch media immediately suggested he was disappointed and sad about the criticism he got regarding his mentor role for Mia & Dion. It didn't go down well with the media that Duncan was nowhere to be seen after the two disastrous performances of Mia & Dion during the pre-parties. Personally, I don't think we will be seeing Duncan getting involved in the Dutch Eurovision any time soon.

I really love your content. Keep up with the good work, Tom! With current voting system I believe Sweden could end up winning once every five years, but if the voting system will change to favor public votes more, I don´t think Sweden will be winning again for a long time. I listened to a podcast with Swedish ESC experts and they thought that Melodifestivalen as such has been a little outdated. They praised UMK for having taken big progressive steps. I also think that UMK hasn´t peaked yet. The huge popularity of Käärijä will be difficult to renew, but I think Finland can win with a high quality performance even with a lesser character than Käärijä. In addition I think that artists in many countries have noticed that the ESC isn´t a competition in vacuum but rather a very great opportunity to benefit their careers.
Hey Carl, I agree that Sweden will continue to do well. As for winning every 5 years, it all depends on the televote. since 2016, every winner has been top 2 of that. I agree that Melfest feels a bit outdated and repetitive (although i still enjoy it and think the production is exceptional) and generally it seems that the swedish songs dont do well enough in the televote, apart from Loreen and Mans I think Loreen did well because she is an incredible performer and brought a very entertaining theatrical style. I dont feel there are that many swedish artists who can do that with a standard Melfest song. So that's the main barrier i see to sweden winning. With Mans, I think it was really his staging, i remember how WOWed i was when i first saw that. So realistically i think with Sweden continuing to just send pop, the key for them to win again is this mindblowing staging using technology and innovation

None of the televoting countries gave my favourite any points at all. Outrageous 23 of 26 countries had televote in 2003: They gave the 1st half: 739pts and the 2nd half: 595pts. 10,8% margine in favour for the 1st half. The 3 countries with juryvotes gave the 2nd half 24% more points. They were all in the 1st half themself, but anyway. Then in 2004 they started with a semifinal and the reversed recap was scraped.

I’m forn Spain and I am so disappointed… we were in a good path. It’s a long run we won’t win in two years of stepping it up but this change putting back as head of delegation the person responsible of mediocre acts and stagings and bad results doesn’t send a good signal. Might even consider not to watch Benidorm Fest next year. Hopefully good artists with interesting proposals will be presented if not bye to the good work we were doing the last two years 😢
Yeah, the toxic fandom needs to be addressed. By the artists themselves and by delegations. It's getting out of hand, all the false accusations about this and that are tiring, all the hate, especially towards Sweden needs to stop. I still don't understand how these people call themselves fans. Eurovision is life, music is life and my whole life music has been therapy. If you don't like something, just keep it moving. Never in my life have I pressed "thumbs down" bellow any music video. Just because I don't like it doesn't mean it doesn't mean something to someone else. Yeah it's really bad and it happens every year now. There is a minority of the fandom that really treat the competition like a football match. They just wanna focus on their one or two favourites, and then treat every other entry as an enemy. They don't really grab the concept that you can actually like multiple songs that are competing to win, and you can still be satisfied with the result even if your top favourite doesn't win. One possible thing that they could do would be to show the winner and runner-up together hugging afterwards. That might be an easy way for people to be able to retweet that photo and say "let's support the winner" The anti-Sweden appears to be mostly jealousy to me, I don't really see any other logical reason for it. if any other country sent consistent quality the same way that they did, they would also get good results
Ana Maria Bordas was not at fault for the poor results during that time, everything was pretty much in control of Toñi Prieto still. Bordas actually has some good results in JESC were I believe they had more freedom to manage things. Also, BF has not changed much, the people selecting the songs this year seem more diverse (there’s Rayden from 2022 there and he might get us some interesting artists who knows). And Ana Maria and Cesar Vallejo are codirectors and they are in touch and passionate about Eurovision so lets hope for the best

I also knew the exact points from the 2003 edition, but that's because I'm Belgian and still angry at Sweden, the last country that had to vote. They gave us 0 points and that is only one of the three countries that didn't give any points to us, and that surprised me so hard because historically we always got points from Sweden in those times as far I could remember. So yes that's a trauma that I'll never forget.

About Croatia's win in 1989, Riva is from Rijeka, Croatia. And Yugoslavia was a federation of countries, so it kind of makes sense to attribute their win to Croatia because Yugoslavia is gone now. Plus the TV network that now represents Croatia in EBU, HRT, was active during Yugoslavia under the same name, and still is today. But I can also see a side from which it's a bit weird.

Hi Mariia 🥰. honestly ive actually never been to one yet. I tried to go to Eurovision in Concert this year in Amsterdam but the accomodation was too much, cos i was looking quite late. I have the impression that that is one of the best and has a lot of artists. Maybe someone will see your comment and recommend something?

I’m forn Spain and I am so disappointed… we were in a good path. It’s a long run we won’t win in two years of stepping it up but this change putting back as head of delegation the person responsible of mediocre acts and stagings and bad results doesn’t send a good signal. Might even consider not to watch Benidorm Fest next year. Hopefully good artists with interesting proposals will be presented if not bye to the good work we were doing the last two years 😢
Yeah, the toxic fandom needs to be addressed. By the artists themselves and by delegations. It's getting out of hand, all the false accusations about this and that are tiring, all the hate, especially towards Sweden needs to stop. I still don't understand how these people call themselves fans. Eurovision is life, music is life and my whole life music has been therapy. If you don't like something, just keep it moving. Never in my life have I pressed "thumbs down" bellow any music video. Just because I don't like it doesn't mean it doesn't mean something to someone else. With all the bad things happening in the world, I don't get why are people willing to turn the most positive thing into something extremely negative. That's what I love about your videos. You set an example because your opinions are respectful. Keep up the amazing work! ❤
Yeah it's really bad and it happens every year now. There is a minority of the fandom that really treat the competition like a football match. They just wanna focus on their one or two favourites, and then treat every other entry as an enemy. They don't really grab the concept that you can actually like multiple songs that are competing to win, and you can still be satisfied with the result even if your top favourite doesn't win.
One possible thing that they could do would be to show the winner and runner-up together hugging afterwards. That might be an easy way for people to be able to retweet that photo and say "let's support the winner"
The anti-Sweden appears to be mostly jealousy to me, I don't really see any other logical reason for it. if any other country sent consistent quality the same way that they did, they would also get good results
Ana Maria Bordas was not at fault for the poor results during that time, everything was pretty much in control of Toñi Prieto still. Bordas actually has some good results in JESC were I believe they had more freedom to manage things. Also, BF has not changed much, the people selecting the songs this year seem more diverse (there’s Rayden from 2022 there and he might get us some interesting artists who knows). And Ana Maria and Cesar Vallejo are codirectors and they are in touch and passionate about Eurovision so lets hope for the best

I also knew the exact points from the 2003 edition, but that's because I'm Belgian and still angry at Sweden, the last country that had to vote. They gave us 0 points and that is only one of the three countries that didn't give any points to us, and that surprised me so hard because historically we always got points from Sweden in those times as far I could remember. So yes that's a trauma that I'll never forget.

About Croatia's win in 1989, Riva is from Rijeka, Croatia. And Yugoslavia was a federation of countries, so it kind of makes sense to attribute their win to Croatia because Yugoslavia is gone now. Plus the TV network that now represents Croatia in EBU, HRT, was active during Yugoslavia under the same name, and still is today. But I can also see a side from which it's a bit weird.

even though it was still Yugoslavia, it was a Coatian band, like most of the performers of yugoslavia in the 80s came from croatia. Eurovision was also held in Zagreb, even though Belgrade was the capital of Yugoslavia.
Not quite. In 1981 the performer was Vajta from Bosnia, and 1982 Aska from Serbia. Also 1983 Daniel was originally from Montenegro and competed in the National selection as a representative from Montenegro.

Bijelo Dugme had Jugoton label for 10 years, but nobody would say they were from Croatia.
