Thank you so much for this video David, I fixed my truck lights in 5 minutes thanks to your video, I didn’t know that specific relay is blue, someone had a regular grey relay in it, that is why it wasn’t working 👍🙏

I replaced the turn signal/multi-function switch, figuring the switch contacts had worn. I didn't notice that my hazard lights were working intermittently like my turn signals until after I had replaced the turn signal switch, and then proceeded to test all my functions. SOLVED! I've read many threads just like this and you guys mostly have my exact problem. Here's what the problem was and how I fixed it: First, in my 2012 Ford F150 the right blinker (flasher)/ brake light would not work. Turn signal blinked fast inside and for the front light and the mirror signal but tail light blinker would not flash. The bulbs were fine, I even replaced with new just to double down. The tail lights would light up when my headlights were on (running lights) but would not get brighter when brake depressed and would not flash for turn signal. I will tell some of you to keep in mind that yours may light up also so you don't think you have a bulb out but keep in mind there are two sepperate tungstan filaments (squiggly light wires) in each tail light and the brakes and flasher one could be bad and your running tail lights still work so definately change your bulbs FIRST, then do this if that was not it. So I had the problem for many months and refused to take my truck to the dealer where of course they will want to replace things and rewire and god knows what else and I've read where one guy says Ford charged him like $800 to fix this. I fixed this problem with $9.00. Saw a RUclips video with a guy with the same problem and he bought an ELM Interface scanner, plugged into the vehicle under the steering wheel and scanned his own truck with an Android app. So I bought the same one on Amazon (here is the link) www.amazon.com/gp/product/B081WYWZ6B/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I found a free app called Car Scanner ELM OBD2 by OvZ it's a generic looking logo of a blue square with a white engine. But I actually saw tons of these apps and I'm sure other apps would work fine as long as they're ELM OBD2 scanning apps with high ratings. I scanned my truck hoping to see some code come up about the BCM (body control module which is where the problem is) but did not see that code. Didnt matter. I CLEARED what unuseful codes I did see and that immediately fixed the problem and my damn flasher and brake lights are all working again. THANK GOD FOR THIS. Super cheap and easy. I replaced the socket by borrowing the left one, the back right blinker works, its just the front right not working, the more i think about it the more i think its an isolated thing. What is the issue, No blinkers, but hazard, no hazard, but blinkers. I would definitely check for voltage at both sides of fuse, then ck for voltage at the flasher unit then ck the switch up on top of steering column. The switch on top of the steering column tends to go bad.
I would first check for voltage before and after hazard button, the button tends to wear out but works like it should just dose not let voltage through If you have cked this already please let me know what u did thus far.

If you have over 100k more then likely it’s the blinker switch on the column. Also the hazard switch usually where is Al and you need to wiggle the switch for the hazards sometimes it will get everything to work again, but if it does replace the hazard switch.
Also make sure you check the common things like fuses and grounds just in case a wire got pinched by the frame or something like that and popped the fuse.
Unfortunately I did everything that you said in the video and it did go by an oem which was $46 but it turns out that this is not the problem my turn signal still doesn't work but my emergency flashers work's just trying to figure out which are the relays for the Flasher or the fuses is that something you can help me with?
I would start with the directional lever on steering column one viewer said their’s needed to be replaced. Check for voltage in and out of that. Check for voltage before replacing parts voltage in, voltage out. Just make sure all fuses are good Not that the flasher relay got hot and popped the fuse.
That really sounds like the signal lever needs to be replaced This is the part just make sure to check your application shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/motorcraft-original-equipment-o.e.-switch-assembly-direction-indicator-sw-6524/11865635-P
If you have power at fuse I would say the flasher switch/ arm needs replacement. If there is no voltage at fuse then there is a problem with ether the fuse block, follow the voltage.
I have that problem. Nothing happens when flashers on, except my brake lights don't work. Turn flasher off, brake lights work. No blinker lights or noise. Weird.
i was diagnosing my dads truck signals last night. they werent going, and neither were 2 of the 3 brake lights. weird right? the one on the back of the roof was still ok. meanwhile that freaky buzzy noise you demonstrate was happening cause i left the 4-ways "on" while i was upside down in the footwell. pressed n massaged the 4-way button and for some reason signals n brakes came back. im making him replace this blasted fuse tomorrow. 😎
You may have a BCM issue which you can fix for $9 with a scanner and a free app. See my other comment here on this video comment thread for full explanation
If they stay solid and dont blink but inside your signal is blinking fast its probably your BCM. Scan it and clear the code yourself with a cheap scanner. Easy cheap fix
@@DavidsHowtosReviews like my hazards and turn signal lights will be working on the outside of the vehicle, but I don’t see them working on the inside on the dash. Could it be the thermal flasher right?

Before you go crazy
Check the relay make sure it’s not stuck on just swap relays with another that in in the fuse block.
Also check the fuse block under dash, if the windshield leaks it goes right onto the fuse box look for signs of water that has leaked down or whet the roof where the lights are and windshield
You are looking for bad relay first
Water in fuse block second
Last chase the wires for those lights see where it is getting the power.
Good luck
If that’s not to problem you will have to start chasing wires because
Okay
what do I do if only the front right one doesn't work, what do you think is the issue
i think when i go in there i'm gonna see a cut wire in that one spot from the video
@@leviprine9490
I would start with the socket where the bulb is, as long as u roiled out the bulb itself.
If the socket is good not corroded or melted,
Then follow the wires.
Also, dose the blinker work or only the back light?
Check for voltage at plug.
If you have voltage then check the ground.
Good luck
I replaced the socket by borrowing the left one, the back right blinker works, its just the front right not working, the more i think about it the more i think its an isolated thing. I think its some kinda problem between the signal switch on the steering column and the harness for the blinker bulb(I replaced the blinker bulb , theres a crack in the plastic light cover, its a second hand truck I'm trying to maintainence up)
I'll check for voltage at the pluh
@@leviprine9490 did you find a solution my truck is doing the same thing but only my front right one is working my back right don’t work an I replaced the bulb so would a fuse still do that? Or is it something bigger
I changed the relay but still have the same issue what’s the next step
What is the issue,
No blinkers, but hazard, no hazard, but blinkers.
I would definitely check for voltage at both sides of fuse, then ck for voltage at the flasher unit then ck the switch up on top of steering column.
The switch on top of the steering column tends to go bad.
Have an issue I can’t figure out .
My turn signals work just fine , but my hazards don’t ..
Any help would be appreciated thanks I’m advance
I would first check for voltage before and after hazard button, the button tends to wear out but works like it should just dose not let voltage through
If you have cked this already please let me know what u did thus far.
Ok so my hazards still work but it’s just my blinkers that don’t any thoughts
Change this
A-Premium Turn Signal Switch, Windshield Wiper Washer, Hazard Warning Flasher, Multifunction Switch, Compatible with Ford F-150 1999-2003, F-250/350/450/550 Super Duty, Blackwood, YL3Z13K359ABA a.co/d/4KGTSQY
I have similar issue but my hazards work but my turn signals don’t
Mine a 03 lariat, was working hazzards. But turn signals was working sometimes it stoped completely hazArds stay working. Now its nothing.
Sounds like you need to change the turn signal lever,
A few viewers said that it was their lever with similar issue
That worked... thanks bro
I wiggled the relay box and hazards work but blinkers don't
Just make sure all fuses are good
Not that the flasher relay got hot and popped the fuse.
It work good 👍
I have hazards but the turn signals just quit :( any ideas?
That really sounds like the signal lever needs to be replaced
This is the part just make sure to check your application
shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/motorcraft-original-equipment-o.e.-switch-assembly-direction-indicator-sw-6524/11865635-P
I just replace the 2 of them still blinkers not working and i check fuse. no luck
If you have power at fuse
I would say the flasher switch/ arm needs replacement.
If there is no voltage at fuse then there is a problem with ether the fuse block, follow the voltage.
Where is it located on f350
This truck in the video is a F350
What if I don’t hear the click, I press it down nothing happens
I have that problem. Nothing happens when flashers on, except my brake lights don't work. Turn flasher off, brake lights work. No blinker lights or noise. Weird.
Definitely check the ground wires
Sounds like the electric trying to find ground through other wires
i was diagnosing my dads truck signals last night. they werent going, and neither were 2 of the 3 brake lights. weird right? the one on the back of the roof was still ok. meanwhile that freaky buzzy noise you demonstrate was happening cause i left the 4-ways "on" while i was upside down in the footwell. pressed n massaged the 4-way button and for some reason signals n brakes came back. im making him replace this blasted fuse tomorrow. 😎
Sorry for late response
I hope things went well with the fix
Electrical problems can be a little tricky
What is this part called
adrian silva
Flasher relay.
On my 2000 F150 it's on the left side not right of steering wheel
Glade you found it.
Off and running again
Neither of my turn signals work, and when i use my hazards only the left side comes on
That sounds like the turn signal lever and assembly needs to be replaced
That didn’t work
Any idea what I could do now?
Depending on how many miles
The blinker lever assembly
Replaces the blinker lever and the hazard button
So my hazards nor blinkers work they stopped all a sudden
You probably need to change out the hazard/blinker/high beam unit on the steering column
@@DavidsHowtosReviews going to go over everything tomorrow just had to replace the light control module few months back
Yeah that's about the last thing it could be I might just take it and have it done
Nah it’s very easy
Two screws and two plugs
I have been meaning to get a video up on how to change out the unit
What if the indicators come on but they stay solid and don’t blink?
ColMustard 1820
Your flashing relay needs to be replaced
That is another thing that happens when the flasher relay goes bad
You may have a BCM issue which you can fix for $9 with a scanner and a free app. See my other comment here on this video comment thread for full explanation
If they stay solid and dont blink but inside your signal is blinking fast its probably your BCM. Scan it and clear the code yourself with a cheap scanner. Easy cheap fix
Could be bad ground I had that problem as well and that's what it was
Thanknyou
This work to for 150 2003
I have the same problem
Moises Tejada
One good thing about Ford they keep everything the same 😊
David Behr's Phantom Industries
A question that year and model is the car you show in the video
Moises Tejada F350 2003’ super duty 7.3L power stroke
My hazards work, but my directionals don't. I replaced the relay..
Check for voltage coming out of the column blinker shifter, it may need to be replaced
It's not a relay, it's a flasher like on Christmas tree lights. .
That’s big thermal flasher? Under dash panel fuse.
Get the oem
They are more electric now but yes same thing
@@DavidsHowtosReviews like my hazards and turn signal lights will be working on the outside of the vehicle, but I don’t see them working on the inside on the dash. Could it be the thermal flasher right?
That sounds like you have something going on with the wire leading to dash or the lights inside the dash for the indicators are burnt out
Ck for voltage at input for the dash
I tried this and it didn't work. Need to do more diagnostics before I go out and spend money.
Always best to troubleshoot as u go so you don’t waste money
Came to this video cuz my blinkers only work when the hazard button is pressed down but the hazards don’t work
I would think this blinker hazard unit is bad as long as you made sure there are no wires cut or crossed
www.1aauto.com/ford-turn-signal-combination-lever-trq-swa41775/i/1azcc00017
My hazards work but turn directionals don't.
Check the directional switch it may need to be changed
@@DavidsHowtosReviews It was the flasher relay.
My left blinker wasnt working all i did was move steering wheel up

Thanks so much!!!!!
