My first go at heresy was world eaters, but I found the lack of plastic assault troops and prohibitively expensive chainaxes, however they were quick and fun to paint. My original first choice would have been Thousand Sons, but with no airbrush at the time I decided against them. I’ve since built mainly scale models and wanted to try something more demanding to paint, but still batch paintable. I love thousand sons lore, so I went with them. Maybe I will expand my world eaters at some point but for now I’m with my original first choice.
Looking forward to paint up all marines in a jiffy. That´s number one priority. So it boiled down to Iron Hands which will get a metallic black paint scheme (lots of dry-brushing and inking) with a focus on metal. Second thing is play style. Most of my previous 40K armies neglected vehicles so this time I will have a healthy dose of vehicles and walkers. Third thing is rule of cool. I will have cyborg marines on the field with OSL lens effects. Only Night Lords could rival that and I have already a 40K Night Lord army. LOL!
I'm currently doing a Fallen Dark Angels 40k army, so half that box is going towards them. I'm considering Alpha Legion next, as I tend to paint dark colours and a lighter coloured army would be a welcome challenge.
I like the iron warriors but I wanted to play loyalists so I'm going with Imperial Fists✊️, which I can use with my 40k IF Primaris army. (Fyi the website pick Imperial fists as my legion so it might actually work 😅. ) Keep up the great content!
XII Legion. World Eaters all the way 😉. The entire box as 1 army. The image of the angry dude with the dog is Angron on his home planet of Nuceria, in the arena 😉.
My 40k army is Blood Ravens or Red Team. 30k Night Lords could be Blue Team. Also, Word Bearers or Thousand Sons are also red and i could merge them with my blood ravens (either is rumored as the parent chapter). Decisions!
I am now stuck between alpha legion nights lords and word bearers I am a newer painter thats why I am considering the word bearers with the smooth scarlet color scheme but night lords and alpha legion look cooler.
Can one make custom Legions? The second and eleventh Legions left obscure, I think, to leave room for custom Legions. But what about community and official rules about playing with them?
I think I'm going to split the box into 2 armies since at some point I'll want specialist units I'm sure. Coin toss between Salamanders and Raven Guard for 1 side and Thousand Sons for the other. Im not a big fan of 40k SM, too gimmicky but pretty much all of the Legions are cool in 30k...
Going with the Alpha Legion. However Son’s of Horus, Emperor’s children, imperial fists, and Ultramarines are also great picks.

If I was to do a 30k army (cost is stopping me) it would be either Salamanders or Imperial Fists
For me it was a toss up between Alpha Legion, Blood Angels or Iron Hands!

I like the look of the dark angels and the iron hands the best.
Only one raven guard legionnaire you ever need to know about nykona sharrowkyn. Go read angel exterminatus by Graham McNeill to find out why.
...I'm literally a 50/50 spilt between Alpha Legion and Thousand sons, I feel called out

i have a massive salamander collection and so ive decided to start making some allied detachments
probably looking at raven guard first
Nice!
2:22 Number 1: THE RULE OF COOL!
7:20 RESONANCE!
I personally went loyalist raven guard with an allied Detachment of loyalist emperors children which made me regret the raven guard.
Maybe use them in 40k?
I'm going thousand sons when i pick up a box, i feel bad for magnus. He just tried to tell daddy emps some bad news and got screwed over.
He knew the risks.
Magnus did a great deal wrong

That's a good idea!
I’m going alpha legion I love the lore and all of the things about them
Nice!
I am now stuck between alpha legion nights lords and word bearers I am a newer painter thats why I am considering the word bearers with the smooth scarlet color scheme but night lords and alpha legion look cooler.
Tough decision!
I already sold my first born for the Ash Wastes...
Maybe GW will take souls for a discount, so I can get a squad of beakies to add to my 40K rebuilds.
Can one make custom Legions? The second and eleventh Legions left obscure, I think, to leave room for custom Legions. But what about community and official rules about playing with them?
I'm not sure how to do this for Horus Heresy. Hopefully someone here in the comments can help.
How would pick a Legion? Look at my Space Marines. Paint the new guys the same as the old guys.
Man you keep picking each faction I pick. First it was wolves, and gitz, now ravenguard.
Haha what about Astra Militarum?
If I had the time to do that many minis.
Nice! The Salamander Primarch is an awesome model and a they do look cool all painted in green.
Amazing video beeb looking for something like this
Awesome, thanks!
Probably gonna go with iron warriors or maybe world eaters. But I think iron warriors because of the call gritty siege specialism and industrialism.
Shame you're going Loyalist Lee but the beakies are perfect for Raven Guard. Please just go Heresy though, forget 40k!
Definitely like the sound of the sneaky beakies! 🤣
Pick the one whose.STLs are easiest to find and looks best in your 3D printer.
Horus Heresy costs more to play than 40k, if that's even possible.
friendly comment
Thanks!
Going with alpah legion. I am alpharius
How to choose a legion ? That’s simple.
You choose the night lords. Ave Dominus Nox.
🤣
It's dark angels that do it for me
I'm am Alpharius
No one... Too expensive...
I wanna go heretic. Debating Alpha Legion or WorldcEaters.
