A very good starting point for anyone wanting to go into HH as marines, unfortunately I'm one of the poor sods who has to wait on the mechanicum book. On another note, I'm personally hoping they bring back the old MKII armour at some point.
Agreed, me I'm looking at both the Iron Hands and Iron Warriors, but the army that has been calling to me was the Legio Cybernetica. Gotta love those crazy robits.
@@greydeathangel If I had to play marines, I'd likely choose Iron Warriors based mostly on my pre-existing mech army for an easy allied detachment. (Though I wouldn't say no to some 3rd Legion goodness depending on timeline placement...)
I think the starter box is a good effort. The terminators armed up for close combat in the Spartan will be a good starter Death Star. Every suggestion you have made is bang on. Predators are especially useful in the game.
I think it’s time for another getting started series for the new HH edition and the individual legion’s Mr Salty!! Enjoy the channel man and I believe your vids have single handedly pushed me into the hobby and saved me a ton of money in the process! Keep up the good work brother!
Personally I’d rather just buy mark 3 or 4 instead of the beakie starter box. I don’t need the Spartan or the praetors, as if you’re playing a legion the specific ones are just better representations on the table, and same goes for the contemptor.
Well, first we really need to see prices on these I think. Though yeah still not really keen on paying GW prices for the lion's share of infantry, regardless of armour Mark. Tanks and such... maybe, given the greater ease of putting plastic kits together and their lower weight though again still need to see an actual AU price tag.
My warhammer store manager and I split the big hh box. He took all the mk6 tactical marines and tank while i took the rest of it. Those caterphracti terminators are so beautiful!
I'd make the argument to have two of the same dreadnought right off the bat (magnetize them so you can do whatever) as I feel it's better to have redundancy in your units
I don't play HH, and at the moment I'm not all that interested in getting into it. I have a blood angels army for 40k, and I am considering picking the HH starter box. This is the reasoning from my perspective: These older armor variants would be nice to add to the army as veteran squads. I don't actually need any more marines in reality, so the box will be a pass for me if it's too expensive. It's a "nice to have" thing, not a "need to have" thing to me. I already have 2 contemptors, so I could still use a 3rd, especially as it has a different sculpt. The new Spartan looks awesome, and it sounds like it'll have some rules for 40k, so I could use it as an over-sized land raider. I could definitely see myself picking up some of the HH stuff to add to my 40k force, and this box looks like it could be a decent pick up. I'm less interested in the special and heavy weapon boxes, or some of the other vehicles being added, as I'm already in decent shape for special and heavy weapons, and the aesthetic wouldn't match very well imo. The sicaran looks intriguing (it was way too expensive from FW for me to consider getting, but I might pick up a plastic kit or two), but I'm not considering it just yet. I'm waiting to see what else comes out that I could use.
I have a small force of Salamanders, and having a special Legion HQ outside of Cassian Dracos does not seem to be in my legion's favor currently. Your videos have helped build up my army for the Horus Heresy and I do appreciate them. If I started to collect MK VI Corvus power armor which legion would suit them best? I don't see adding them to my Salamanders. Thank you for your time and lets hope converting the new weapon boxes is easy.
alpha legion or raven guard, raven guard head upgrades are actually mkvi, plus most of their FW special units are in mkvi (unless it's all and I've forgotten)
Raven guard fit mark 6 perfectly and they also work with salamanders perfectly too, and can be played as an shattered legion force. This is what i'm doing with my box, the termies, dread and spartan are going into my iron hands force and the Marines are being used to start my raven guard force
I think this is a decent starter set, because the mkVIs will be easier to paint with the lack of trim. I would look at starting Blood Angels or Raven Guard Legions. Maybe the Alpha Legion if I wanted to air brush that funky color for fun. I was actually thinking of buying it for my son to paint up, but then he said he likes the Dark Angels colors and I am not raising a heretic. I just don’t see White Scars or Imperial Fist in MKVI either
Actually in 2.0 both are much stronger, especially the heavy bolters due to the sheer firepower. If you want lots of dakka, they are a good bet, but if you go for Sicarans you'll have that kind of firepower anyway.
nice vid weapon boxes for me first,(for my devastator company,s) then later in the year the big box, as i kinda like that kit and what comes with it and its an awesome way to finish building up my chapter by that time. from collector point of view of course..
I plan to buildmy marines as despoiler squads and not glue the backpacks ( I want to go World Eaters route), since they have the same CQC loudout. So when the jump packs will be available just buy the on bitz market or casts and turn them into assault squads.
To anyone familiar with the Heresy I had a question about terrain and the setting in general. Was the gothic looking architecture prominent during 30k or did that start showing up later when the Imperium became more religious?
Of course you could add less gothic elements to portray a settlement/city before before of strife. In Horus Heresy the world is your oyster if can explain it in a canonical way. Like a desolate mining outpost built during the golden age of human space travel, a thriving feudal village on an unconquered planet or a ghost town of unknown xenos origin.
@@scoticvsgossage9378 Adding to that weren't the ships built on with various additions over the centuries? Hence why they're so massively baroque! I vaguely remember reading something like that somewhere.
@@emile1365 Yes, check the Battlefleet Gothic line. The Chaos ships were the ships used during the Heresy by the Imperium. There was no separate Imperial fleet at the time. After the Heresy, the Imperial Fleet was formed (and the Imperial ships in BFG constructed) and Space Marines were stuck with just Strike Cruisers and Battle Barges. Marines not having an actual fleet was one of the measures take to prevent another Heresy (along with Legions being broken down into 1000-strong Chapters).
@@TheOuterCircle Thank you so much brother I'm truly grateful for all the help u have been giving us through the years with 30k this new game coming up I knew u was the one to deliver us in the right direction With as much "Lube" as possible cause we all know how GW like The "No Lube Policy" Atleast this way where prepared 😆 🤣 😂
If you are playing say loyalist iron warriors or traitor ultramarines is those still covered by their respective books or do their opposite one cover those?
You do you / make the hobby your own, BUT...I don't think there's a such thing as Heretic UM. IW, however, did have some loyalist holdouts, albeit very few. I could be wrong here, but I've read every single HH novel and don't recall even a hint of GW's posterboys even flirting with the idea of joining Horus' cause.
Magnatise 👍😁 Also Macca forgetting most important thing Apocatheries You will need 6 to 8 depending on your toop setup So use 10 new Marines if you upscale and kit base arms heads backpacks with existing and use two or rest of 10 man spare for command squad?
Oh I didn't forget, I mention them at the end because I find them overplayed, an army full of apothecaries isn't exactly the mark of true generalship, it's just a flat-buff for 35 points.
I want A Games Workshop Mark-5 Heresy Armor Tactical Squad Since It Has Been A Long Time Since They Made A Mark-5 Heresy Armor Model Because Most Of The Heresy Armor Models Is Metal The 1990’s Armour Through The Ages Set Had A Plastic (I think) Version Of Heresy Armor Marine 2.
The Mk 3 and 4 marines have old-school open left hands connected the the arm to hold the gun, while the new upgrades have left hands sculpted onto the guns. you'll have to clip off and shave away the open left hand to connect them at the wrist.
I think the most important thing to do right now for heresy is not to buy from forge world. We know they have plans for plastic mechanicum because it's got a section on the webstore for it but they haven't confirmed what is being brought over. They clearly have a lot more plastic HH that we don't know about it and it'll save you money and time to wait and see what comes out. In the meantime paint the stuff you want from GW play some games and have fun with what you've got
I dunno. My instinct is SCREAMING at me that the very first thing to add to what you get in this box is something FAST! Sure, a few Rhinos could do the trick, but this army NEEDS a Fast Attack choice!!
If I follow this, I end up with 60 Marines, 2 Praetor, 2 dreadnoughts, a Spartan, 4 Rhinos, 3 Predators, 1 Terminator HQ, 5 Terminators, 2 Sicaran, and then the flavour units such as Legion specific Terminators and another couple of units/tanks or Assault/Breacher units. How many points is that, and how big is an average (starting) game? That seems a lot. Can you really fit it all in to a standard (2000 points?) force?
This is something that I've noticed GW has failed to make people realise, and that The Heresy game is based on the idea of playing 40K Apocalypse but set during the Horus Heresy; so that's huge sized squads, tank squadrons and titans in big armies on the tabletop. You could play smaller games, but the whole point of playing the Heresy is to experience cataclysmic battles with big armies that were used in this setting.
@@BazookaJRambo I am very happy with that, but it's not easy for new players like me to jump into. I am fine ending up with a huge army - let's be honest, it's going to happen whatever game I play - but it's a lot to start off trying to balance. So far, I have been concentrating on picking up the older MkIV boxes, and when HH is released I will get the rules, the Traitor book and 2-3 Rhino. This should give me a solid core to add the more fun minis to later.
Would say to just get the Launch box + whatever weapon upgrade set you like + a rhino and you’ll be solid for a while. If you’re starting out in heresy, you do not need all what Macca recommends right off the bat. Think of it like a guide for a journey rather than a check list. After the legion you choose might rather have jump infantry or speeders instead if predators.
@@internetman1213 That's kind of where I have gone. I picked up a load of MkIV boxes. I will get a couple of Rhinos when the plastic Deimos is released. I am not getting the box because I already have an 'it was a bargain' mini pile. Its only good value if you will actually use the minis. I am going with Iron Warriors.... so maybe swap out the Predators for Medusa or similar.
Its just frustrating that only like half the legions have a specific Terminator praetor. Like I am stuck between Salamanders and Thousand Sons and neither have one.
I'd love to start again (years ago had a Mechanicum and Imperial Fist army. Really want to start 1000Sons. Would people look funny at me when I'd create a late heresy MKIV list?
I'd say that's perfectly reasonably, notably because it'd be your army, and therefore you should be able to do with it whatever you like! Lore wise, you could probably spin it as the Thousand Sons getting gutted at the start of the Heresy on Prospero, and therefore perhaps wouldn't have had the chance to get the newer marks of armour in.
Can you talk about the non-legion forces and options in a video please. I want to make something with Sisters of Silence, but it does not look like a complete army. How would I go about that? Can I play a combination of Astartes and Sisters?
Understand your take on the Spartan. I could see a Rhino or two, or a rhino and a sicarian or predator being a better choice for a starter box, but I don't think the spartan itself is necessarily the worst they could do. For me personally I'm looking forward to the Spartan as I'm finally doing Space Wolves, a faction I've had an interest in playing them since starting 40k mid way through 7th and I am full on planning to kitbash it up into something resembling an old longship as a centrepiece model, purely for a super narrative driven force. 100% will be getting a sicarian or two at some point after they drop as well though. Me and the guys I play with have been talking with much interest and we're all prettymuch unanimously holding back at least 10 marines for special/heavy weapons. Personally we're also hoping to see stuff like breachers/assault marines etc. take the form of upgrade kits similar to the special/heavy weapons already shown off, as our concern lies in GW pulling a similar stunt to what they did with Primaris Death company and Hounds of morkai in bunging a 5 or 10 man sprue in with the upgrades and charging almost as much as one of these 20 man units being released soon, and we'd much rather just buy a box of 20 and bung some plastic upgrades on them. Just hope we see breachers soon, as we're intending to play a lot of Zone Mortalis as we've been itching to for some time but holding back based on the rumours of HH2.0, and I've wanted breachers almost as much as I've wanted sicarians for a long time, but I personally cannot be arsed to work with resin for anything more then I have to on units such as primarch's and legion specialist stuff.
I love beakies but theyre a puzzling core box choice, and they dont really fit my choice of death guard. I already bought a recast of the legion contemptor so im pretty much locked in
yeah, im the same. If i bought the box, I would just want the tank, dread and termis for my Death Guard - the rest inc. the rulebook could be sold on. Not sure yet whether its worth buying the big box or waiting for the smaller boxes and just buy what i need
The box isnt for every legion despite what theyd like you to think, but honestly thats ok considering the other paths theyve gone to to allow for weapon packs and 20x marine boxes. Now they just need to fix the pricing model and they'll get actual players
Really useful video. As one of those that have had a few false starts in HH this really helps. Was wondering how far off the special and heavy weapons upgrades are for the MKIII and MKIV plastics and is it worth trying to 'make good' or just pick up the kits from Forge World.
I prefer the old scale, they are actually not off scale imo, with the cadians kit pushing a 6'4"man where as a space marine are like 7" it checks out for me
Really? I think there the same height? I think primaris actually make it look the correct scale. I mean they Tower over average humans in the novels an in mini form there eye to eye
The old scale was absolutely horrible imho. I just wish they had the balls to produce 'primaris' marines as an upgrade to the old kits/"it's been 20 years and we can make better kits now" and ditch the ridiculous lore around them.
This video seemed to be aimed at people who were already in a tabletop gaming hobby. Would you say it's still relevant for people looking to get into a tabletop game for the first time, as would be the case for me? I've always been fascinated with the HH tabletop game but never bought in, what do you think?
Probably gonna start with all the vehicles first. Two Rhinos, two Sicarans, and a Kratos. I want to hold out at least 6 months on building infantry to see if they start rolling out new legion upgrade sets for them.
Hey man, great vid and I love that you're watching out for the new players. However, as an old time viewer I have to say your old intro video was much, much better. I get kinda nostalgic now when I hear that eerie theme, whereas your new one is kinda... missing? Idk. Love your work man, just my own opinion
Im taking Option B mate.....buy the source books and 3D print the army I want. Done paying GWs ridiculous prices when I can print off a 30K era Deimos Rhino with a fully detailed interior for $5. I can also resize the Catty Termys on a printer so the normal marines arent the same sodding size as the Termys. I never play in GW stores nor at tourneys so the no print rule doesnt work on me.
As a total newbie to Horus Heresy, I appreciate you doing these intros! I'll be taking your advice and making the starter set Mk VI Marines into my support squads. As I had a box each of Mk III and Mk IV marines already, I've started working on those already as standard Legion Tactical Marines. Is there any reason I can't mix the two boxes into one squad of twenty? Is it plausible against the background of the story? Thanks again and thanks for any help!
No reason at all….by the lore, MkIII and VI were still pretty common though out the heresy…..MkIII was popular with breached squads as its supposed to be the heaviest Mk of the power armor (although I don’t know how it translates into game terms as I currently don’t own any MkIII sets, on the look out for them)
With all due respect, I think I'll give the starter box a pass; I'm (currently - this could change) planning on early/mid-Heresy Emperor's Children, and I think I'd be better off just getting the tactical squads and Terminators separately, since nothing else in there really fits with both the Legion aesthetic and the time period I'm going with. What would be a good centrepiece unit for my army instead of the Spartan?
The contemptor dreadnaught would fit in your theme wouldn’t it? I want to make a dark angels army only because of lion el johnson…I don’t even like dark angels but he’s my favorite primarch so what about making fulgrim your centerpiece?
@@mikel7145 Also, I do agree about the Contemptor, but I'll get it separately. I've also got a 40K venerable dreadnought that (I hope) I can use with the Legacies PDF. He really wasn't kidding when he said "here's a frame" and literally showed the picture for a frame. Boi I can't pause that fast on my phone lol Also, I think the point on the spartan is fair but I am excited to be getting one. I think this box is such a good start and I'm getting rid of all the mk6 because I'm a MK3/MK4 kinda guy. I started HH in December and I'm collecting World Eaters. I'm excited to build a list for armored assaults with predators, rhinos, and a spartan filled with Angron and Butchers or marines with chainaxes! It'll be awesome. I have my custom HQ, first conversion I've ever done. And I plan on creating a few squads of triarii for some flavor.
Not going to buy anything they produce at this point. It is either recast or 3d print all my stuff and play with my friends during the summer. The game has gone way too expensive down the road. It is ridiculous. I can buy a new phone with that kind of money on a box of plastic.
Exactly. For the price of a Horus Heresy army I could take a trip to Europe. Paying that much money for plastic soldiers should never be a priority in anyones life.
@@McBurnside6380 I can also go to get good meals with the girl I love and have a good bonding experience with people. I can't believe people would pay for this.
Looking to get into Horus Heresy with the new box set as Emperor's Children. Are assault marines a good next buy from the set or are there any other specifics I should lean into?
Here's what I wanna know. Can I build a 1000pt Iron Warriors force that includes the Primarch (I love him)? Maybe some Siege Tyrants? This would very much be a force for throwing dice and seeing how much I like the game, not a heavy commitment. I would have to forgo the beakies because they don't suit the IVth legion. I would likely wait till MKII armor comes out in plastic.
@@helikontex2467 I'm gonna wait for the Proteus and the MkII kits. I love those designs and I'm gonna start from there. I've heard you can do that kind of thing with this game, just play what you feel and have a good time. I hope so, anyway!
I'll throw my opinion in here. I think the Calivers were in a weird spot. S5, heavy 2 just isn't all that hot when you compare it to some of the other options. The culverin was S6, heavy 4 AND an additional 15 inches of range. Thats worth giving up your movement for, plus you'll be able to shoot at most things on the board. Sounds like Culverins are getting pushed to Heavy 3 in HH 2.0 so I may end up taking them again. But the jump from Calivers to Culverins is pretty damned massive
So I’m traveling from NZ to the UK in a weeks time and will be me going to Warhammer World. I’m getting back in GW after a good 8 year break (old player up to 6th edition Warhammer and Rogue Trader/3rd 40K). What Forge World products do you think for the above legions are worth considering to grab while I’m in the UK? Many thanks in advance Nick P.S I quite like the idea of loyal Luna Wolves, Emperors Children, Raven Guard
I think some anti tank that isn't the spartan would work well so potentially the sicaran or kratos tank, the heavy weapons upgrades would be good aswell
So I will not listen to you, for a simple reason. I want 10 Flamer dudes, 10 Melta dudes, 5 heavy Flamer dudes and 5 Multimelter dudes. As a keen onlooker can tell, I am a Salamanders Fanboy. And those are 30 Marines... So I will have 40 Marines in the end, which should be fine. My question now is... Should I convert the remaining 10 into special/heavy weapons teams with other guns than Flamer and Melter, and if yes, which ones, or should I add them to the 20 Bolter Marines I'm gonna get, to go up to 30?
Well, it depends, if you use all your special weapons for the basic starter box, then congratulations on your list which is non-functional. If you want to use all of those units, you're going to want at least 2 tactical squads to go with your 3-4 special/heavy squads, and you'll need some other assets to get your stuff into position.
@@TheOuterCircle of course, that part I figured out myself. To clarify, my question was if I should rather add 30 Bolter Marines 10 Flamer, 10 Melter, 5 h. I don't see a significant difference between the mk VI arms on the special weapon box and mk IV arms anyway. The only difference is the armor around the wrist. I think you could just use them as is for mk IV. The heavy weapon arms do look a little bit more different for some reason though. Putting them on mk III is where you'd need the knife.
But its the Kratos a good swap for the Spartan. I dont like the Spartan, its just a landraider and like you said has few uses. I feel like swapping it out for another center pice model would be smart.
I'll be honest with anyone getting into world eaters, even with a basic 3d printer it is no small feat to get 30-40 chainaxes and convert all those tacticals 😅
Kind of confused about the Spartan/Rhino topic. You said filling up a Spartan and shoving killy units down the enemy's throat isn't in the heart and soul of the game and the game is mainly objective based anyway. But then in the rhino example you described...putting killy units in the rhinos and shoving them down the enemy's throat. Lol.
Gotta say if the box was MKII marines instead of MK VI it would be the best box ever released. I dropped some money on the box, the kratos, the special weapons, heavy weapons (missile/heavy bolters), and the liber hereticus. I am planning on a siege of terra era night lords.
I notice you don't give ballpark prices or an overall guesstimated price for all of this. In the UK that starter set is £180 on its tod. The extra soldiers are £30 per box. Plastic Dreadnoughts are £35. The books are @ £35 apiece. The Spartans are, when released in plastic, likely to be @ £40+ a pop You're advising people to cough up to £500+ . . . ? Are you *working* for GW or what?
No way on earth will the Spartan be £40. Land Raiders are £65 from GW currently and the Spartan is larger, i would expect £75+. 10 marines is currently £32.50 so the new boxes of 20 will be more, your £30 estimate is very low. The £180 for the starter box hasn't been confirmed but it will be at least that, although that is GW price. From a 3rd party you will get a 20% discount. Buying a full army will cost a fair bit if money but the same is true for 40k or AoS. Honestly most hobbies cost a lot of cash.
You should make a video about what happens if HH 2.0 sucks. I keep looking at the leaked rules and it seems like the game has been gutted to me. The psychic phase is just gone and the legions have all lost a ton of special rules.
I'm hesitant to atart a HH army as GW is pretty scummy with its pricing, all this will depend on pricing and i hope it will be cheaper than what we've been custom too, but it won't. Honestly until prices come out I'd take anything what WH40k channels as the finest grain of salt after the NDA leaks.
Step One to Horus Hersey: buy 3d printer and resin Step two: Print exact replicas of any GW models you like, or any alternative models you like. Step three: laugh and point at anyone that accepts their ass getting reemed by GW prices.

I don't play HH, and at the moment I'm not all that interested in getting into it. I have a blood angels army for 40k, and I am considering picking the HH starter box. This is the reasoning from my perspective:
These older armor variants would be nice to add to the army as veteran squads.
I just don’t see White Scars or Imperial Fist in MKVI either
which dark angel colours? 30k or 40k, and dude there's 6 wings
Actually didn't even think of the lack of the trim, that's a really good take. 🤔

Thank you for this ONE!
Macca, where do you rate Heavy Bolter / Missile Launcher squads in the ranking? Worth taking generally or legion specific or neither?
Actually in 2.0 both are much stronger, especially the heavy bolters due to the sheer firepower. If you want lots of dakka, they are a good bet, but if you go for Sicarans you'll have that kind of firepower anyway.
Isn't that like almost 2000$ post tax? Just to start?
I love the new box and will buy 2-3 of them
I want to play NL and i feel that the starter box is a red herring. I feel like if I buy it I should play SoH or Alpha Legion.
Loving this new Outer Circle 2.0 intro and HH series!

weapon boxes for me first,(for my devastator company,s)
then later in the year the big box, as i kinda like that kit and what comes with it and its an awesome way to finish building up my chapter by that time.
from collector point of view of course..
It was always there.
The ships look pretty much the same as they did in 30k
Gothic architecture is almost the same. Religious iconography such as skulls, candles, purity seals, etc etc became more prominent afterwards.
What happened to the miniac release leaks video? Didn't get to watch it before it was made private :(
What to buy and equip my Iron Hands legion with?
Looking To Spend All That I've saved since I 1st heard of the new Horus Heresy boxset
Literally this army is what you'd use, they favour mechanised units, but you can also get graviton guns, which are way better than melta guns.

Magnatise 👍😁
Also Macca forgetting most important thing
Apocatheries
You will need 6 to 8 depending on your toop setup
So use 10 new Marines if you upscale and kit base arms heads backpacks with existing and use two or rest of 10 man spare for command squad?
Oh I didn't forget, I mention them at the end because I find them overplayed, an army full of apothecaries isn't exactly the mark of true generalship, it's just a flat-buff for 35 points.
We get any word on Demons yet?
Scouts, too. Need to add in 2 squads of scouts in there.
Another great video.
Do we actually know if the weapons won't work for other mks. I keep being told it's essentially the same thing fw sells now
The Mk 3 and 4 marines have old-school open left hands connected the the arm to hold the gun, while the new upgrades have left hands sculpted onto the guns. you'll have to clip off and shave away the open left hand to connect them at the wrist.
Dreadnaught army, just because! They’re also iron hands too
I think the most important thing to do right now for heresy is not to buy from forge world.
I have just been looking at the FW website and just realised that all of the legion transfers are gone with no explanation, that I know of.
Most Heresy games are actually 3k, rather than 40k's 1750/2000 lists. I'm not even sure that fits into 3k, though. 😂
When does it make sense to go for 20 marines per squad and when does it make sense to go for 10 marine squads?
Apothecaries for survivability, legions that get bonuses that work well for tactical squads, or forces that you really want to sit on objectives.
@@TheOuterCircle Thank you for the answer. In which directions do Night Lords go?
Its just frustrating that only like half the legions have a specific Terminator praetor. Like I am stuck between Salamanders and Thousand Sons and neither have one.
They'll come eventually.
Do we know if Armoured Breakthrough ROW is still going to exist? I really want to do a IVth Legion one
I just want to the kits for my deathwatch. I would like to maybe start alpha legion. What is everyone's view on them?
I already bought a recast of the legion contemptor so im pretty much locked in
that said the mk vi bodies would look just fine with iron helm swaps, so maybe its not all bad if youve got loads of helmets laying about
yeah, im the same.
I have another video coming aimed at that, in fact if I get the editing done, it may come out within the next day.
Hi Macca , you called the characters in the starter set a hot mess or what ever . How come ? New to HH and just wondered whats up with them ?
I have a whole lot of negative things to say, but it boils down to they're hideous.
@@TheOuterCircle lol fair enough
Probably gonna start with all the vehicles first. Two Rhinos, two Sicarans, and a Kratos.

This was a solid choice, as I'm doing SOH now and all those EC upgrades look so much cooler 😭
I only count 2 tac squads in the starter box
are mk4 & 5 the same size as these new mk6??
I want a Kratos, but just for display. Doesn't fit my fast attack strategy.
No reason at all….by the lore, MkIII and VI were still pretty common though out the heresy…..MkIII was popular with breached squads as its supposed to be the heaviest Mk of the power armor (although I don’t know how it translates into game terms as I currently don’t own any MkIII sets, on the look out for them)
What if I want to play White Scars?
@@mikel7145 That's a good idea! I'll think about it more once I've built up a good core of my army.
Boi I can't pause that fast on my phone lol
Also, I think the point on the spartan is fair but I am excited to be getting one.
Since I nearly spent that on my used phone, I really want to know where you are getting phones that cheap

No you can't use a primary in 1000 pts game, breaks the percentage minimums
I'm curious about why you call out the heavy weapon version of the Volkites as good, but neither of the special weapon versions?

Many thanks in advance

P.S I quite like the idea of loyal Luna Wolves, Emperors Children, Raven Guard
I think some anti tank that isn't the spartan would work well so potentially the sicaran or kratos tank, the heavy weapons upgrades would be good aswell
I assume there are no rules yet for black shields ?
To clarify, my question was if I should rather add
30 Bolter Marines
10 Flamer, 10 Melter, 5 h. Flame, 5 Multimelter
OR
20 Bolter
10 flame, 10 melt, 5 h. Flame, 5 m. Melt, 10 other heavy/special weapons
And if I go with the second list, what special/heavy weapons should I add?
That I would need lots of other support like vehicles, Dreads and HQs in addition to that, I already know.
Edit: After reading my first comment again, I realised how poorly I worded it, so I hope this post is a little clearer :D
Not gonna lie, I was halfway expecting him to say: "just get a 3D-printer" and end the video right there.

Putting them on mk III is where you'd need the knife.
But its the Kratos a good swap for the Spartan. I dont like the Spartan, its just a landraider and like you said has few uses. I feel like swapping it out for another center pice model would be smart.

That Spartan is useless in a starter set. Price of that, you can get some tanks and APCs with.
what points level are you aiming this video at? surely beginners should aim for about 1k points rather than 2k?
I was told a tactical squad 20 in Horus Heresy
Rhinos are the best!
Surely the box set will be next to useless compared to whatever they will sell next.
Lol.
There's a difference between 800 points of terminators in a 300 point tank compared to 200 points of plasma guns in a 35 point tank.
Always remember the tactical boxes come with some heavy and special weapons
*What Is Best For Your Money?* ...a new hobby XD

There is no buy. Only print.
I notice you don't give ballpark prices or an overall guesstimated price for all of this.
In the UK that starter set is £180 on its tod.
The extra soldiers are £30 per box.
Plastic Dreadnoughts are £35.
The books are @ £35 apiece.
The Spartans are, when released in plastic, likely to be @ £40+ a pop
You're advising people to cough up to £500+ . . .
