    11 years ago we bought our home and first thing i did was plant 11 fruit trees. now my daughter enjoys some of the fruit the trees grow and offer, trees are still young but give what they can. i love your grandparents, even though I do not know them, I recognize their hearts. i just love love love love love how you girls have embraced the land. it gives me the biggest smile and fullest heart watching you forage and gather and enjoy. bless bless bless, thank you for sharing. i can only dream my great grand children one day will be as beautiful as you both are. XOXOXO TY

      For the first bit of this video, I was like where are they, and when I figured it out that it was Australia I was shocked. I of course thought about it for a minute and it was then less shocking, but it made me realize that, like you said, we don't ever get to see this side of Australia. So glad I found this video, and got to experience this side of Australia, and got to experience the amazing food forest and nature based lifestyle this family has created and sustained. This is how life should be lived. I one day hope to be able to get near plants without them dying, so I can live the same type of life. Seriously, I kill cacti and ivy anytime I attempt to try my hand at growing plants. Yeah, I'm gonna starve lol. Again, thank you both for inviting us to your home.

      Alright, MAPIA, not all humans will want to live like this, or be able to, while keeping the earth and humanity in balance.
      Ollie, yes there is many places on this planet where food forests like these can't really be made without draining resources from somewhere else, but I think the point is for people to get closer to nature, and to find a sustainable, more positive way of life.
      Bill... it's not a joke, and I don't think that's exactly what they meant. There's not enough space on this planet for all these people, but I think, with something called Sharing and Human Creativity, we can find a way to do it.

      I would love to live like that but it is completely out of my possibilities since it would be crazy expensive to have so much land and plant that many trees and plants. You have to understand not everyone will love a life like that and that's ok. As long as science keeps advancing to a better future with little to no pollution without any drawbacks then it is ok.

    I was born and raised in the Philippines and seeing your large mango trees brought so many great childhood memories since my cousins, friends, and I used to climb those. After we had a storm the night before, all the kids in the neighborhood would get up before the sunrise so we could pick the riped mangoes that fell from the tree. I wish this is something my two kids could experience. We will be moving back home to Tennessee, USA in 3 years and my plan is to plant a couple of apple and peach trees and all the berries I could grow. Unfortunately, tropical and citrus fruits just won't grow there but I want my kids to experience growing and harvesting our own food. I think it will be a nice memory they'll always remember as part of their childhood.

Your grandparents/family had the vision working positively. and wow... thank u sharing. If everyone picked up there shovels and added one more fruit tree to there neighborhoods...a lot of world problems solved.

    It’s funny to me how all the comments are about how this is so much work and so expensive when nature is basically fully automated except for planting a correctly researched species into fertile soil and giving as little as 4 hours a day to a free therapy of gardening and spending time with animals... if you don’t want that life and prefer a different way just say that. Plenty of smaller scale gardens sustain families with year round food with the exception of foods they like to buy in store

      Can tell you've never lived on a farm of you think 4 hours a day is enough
      Christ, I walked 9 miles by lunchtime and 14 miles/day, burning 9000 calories/day just to maintain 245 pounds
      4 hours my ass
      We didn't have a minute to stop- haying we never got a break and I puked multiple times a year due to exhaustion and heat stroke.
      I've worked construction, AG work, landscaping, dairy farm, logging, multiple horse farms, haying, bouncing- in brutal heat and cold- and grw up on a farm, was picking rocks at 4.
      4 hours-- 👌👌

    • @ashleighclark8847

      I think you need to understand that land like this in an ideal location now costs about $3 million Australian
      If it was in a somewhat isolated and dry location maybe just under $1 million
      To get just a good house in the suburbs around a capital city now costs $1 million, not including a decent backyard
      There is a big bubble and prices are double, lol. Most people can't even find somewhere to rent.
      It's very unfortunate if our dreams aren't able to come true.
      It's everyone's right to be able to connect with and live on the land.
      Very fortunate for people whose family owned a large parcel of land and hand it down to their decendants

    • @ahuman5772
      @ahuman5772 2 года назад +1

      I have a much smaller garden (about 300m2, half is just lawn since I live with my family), which is still very productive (definitely not growing all of our food, but at times we are getting a good percentage of our fruits and vegetables from it, as well as eggs), and I definitely don't put much time into it. Most of the time is just relaxing and looking at my plants. There's no doubt that there is hard work involved - setting up a food forest would probably take more work than setting up a monoculture farm. However after some time it just looks after itself and you just need to guide it along. My girlfriend and I are planning to get a bit more land since I don't feel like there's enough work in my garden, not enough challenge.
      I think there's a big difference between working on a huge monoculture farm growing food for 1000 people, and working in your own food forest.

    Well Done! - I living in the Freo part of Western Australia where lots of immigrants who came over from Europe decades ago planted lots of wonderful fruit trees, this got me into growing my own fruit and veg. Wish we had more land like the both of you ladies, you have a wonderful backyard. - Very refreshing to see two well grounded individuals who seem to have figured out at such a young age, what really matters in this world, for most of us that level of wisdom doesn't come until much later in life, if at all. Well done for getting back to nature and a simple wholesome way of living, your body and soul will be the richer for it. Enjoy the wonderful land your family has passed down to you and keep up the great work. You will be richer there than many who drive around in fancy cars but dont enjoy the job they do for 60% of their woken life. - Wealth can come in many different forms, not just money and what matters most in the end if happiness and health. Best wishes.

      Fully support your point of view. Slowly everyone would realize that consumerism can't provide absolute peace. The developments in the name of modernization is self destructive. Let's go back to our roots.

      @@Dave_en but i HATE how the population (i.e. 'humanity') is put to blame for pollution/global warming/industrialisation/consumerism when less than 1% are even aware of these things It's people in power that are promoting, causing, and profiting off of everything and constantly pushing the blame to 'humanity' by telling us to do dumb shit like stop using plastic bags and straws -_- while they package our GMO fruits in plastic. They then push so many other lies, like overpopulation, etc.

    • @Dave_en
      @Dave_en 3 года назад +1

      @@untitled-8538 the responsibility lies on us. We can refuse to live according to their terms. We have to pressurize the govt to put some disincentive to population growth. Like stopping subsidy, no freebies and other facilities to people with more than two children. Let's stop consumerism by living simple life. Probably we won't have to spend heavily on healthcare by living the Vedic prescribed way like shown in the video. We can create heaven on earth in reality.

      @Kaleidoscopic Kali I doubt if anyone eats everything raw nowadays. Don't think so far. Nature will take its course just like this pandemic. Or many would die of poverty if population is not checked. Ultimately technology can't save us from the wrath of mother nature. We have to go back in the prehistoric life one day and start afresh just like 5000 years ago. This cycle would continue for eternity.

    Cheers from California! This looks amazing. You are so fortunate to have been raised in the midst of such bounty.
    I've been researching how to do a food forest along with other methods of permaculture so that when I am able to buy property in a year or two I will be ready with the knowledge to plant a sustainable edible garden. I hope that someday my own grandchildren can enjoy wandering and eating from the plants I put in.
    In the meantime, the yard of my rental house is packed to the gills with dozens upon dozens of potted fruit trees, shrubs, brambles, herbs, and vines and several raised beds of edible annuals. It will take many years to become as established as your little slice of eden, but when I do move, I'll be able to start literally "putting down roots" on day one!

In another of your videos, I recognized a Neem tree. Your property has a great variety of fruit trees. Your Grandparents were true visionaries and could see what their vision would bring to their family for generations into the future.
