I am still truly in awe at how much Lenny has improved on this dog food!
@sundaysfordogs
Well, we are in need of more long lumber (16') for our deck project, and the only way to get that is by cutting a tree down on our property. We have a couple of dead-standing Douglas Fir trees to choose from, and one is more dangerous to fell than the other. So I started with the easier one, but should this be a 2 person job?
I have a little bit of experience felling trees, but not a ton, and not for large dead-standing trees like this is a thick forest, with a lean in the tree.
I really do need more practice! (and just need to trust myself and hold onto my little bit of confidence with it 😊).
I also have an update on my workshop!
Thanks for watching and I will see you in the next video!

I wish you would get a real pair of Logger Boots for Felling trees and Milling, just saying, your in a region where some of the best logger boots in the world are produced.
Good Job, funny joke about "many-paws" (describes my Wife perfectly).
We are gonna give the Sundays K9 Food a try (for our furry kids).
Be Safe out there, so glad to hear Steve is improving. 👍
Glad to hear about Koda finding a forever home, also good idea about the addition off the back of the house.
26:55 Pure Concentrated Happiness/Joy ❤
@@hkguitar1984I suggested Dayton Lineman boots but Michelle did not go for it. I know they are a bit over kill but bloody hell they would look amazing on her😁.
@@ukpaullouis2708 They would indeed look fantastic on her, the Dayton Lineman take it to a whole new level. 👍
Still though, its difficult to argue against the convenience of slip-on boots.
@@ukpaullouis2708 That's not importante.
Glad Steve has turned the corner and is on the mend
i had back surgery and need a 2nd the wort was the day after, i then barely got in my neighbors car but few days later it started feeling better abd worked for 15 yrs when another 2 places failed
Clyde in the background during playtime:
"I've been replaced... I've been replaced by THAT thing?!? Oh, come on!"
😂
Also later: Michygoss: "I want to save the better part of these"
You don't need to tell us, we know you do by now 😆
I think every time you consider saving something for later, Steve gets one of those Jedi disturbance-in-the-force shivers.
I'm very glad Steve is feeling better. After 44 years of being a RN I have a great understanding of back pain.
Great video. Glad Steve is on the healing side of healing. Best wishes to both of you.
Leaning trees and Barber chair events are no joke thats for sure! Be safe
I was a wildland firefighter for a decade. I've felled hundreds of trees. There was very little wrong with your wedge and backcut. Bruce just complicated the process. He didn't "clean up" the hinge, he messed it up. The only mistake you made was forgetting that your bar wasn't long enough to do the back cut from one side. No biggie.
Dang near broke my jaw smiling when you cut a proper face cut on that stick, hey it went where you wanted didn't hang up & no body got hurt, when you commit to an escape route you stick with it no matter what! Congrats on the shop expansion that is so cool. Good news about Steve's healing progress can almost feel his relief as it gets better, be safe & best to all!
This may sound strange considering the work you did to get the tree down, but I found this to be a very relaxing video to watch on a Sunday morning. Thanks Michy
It wasn't oh, well. Some analysis of the event.
You do the best ad reads. You're the only channel where I don't skip over them !
@@ted2704 awe thank you!
@@michygoss7148 I guess I'll have to watch closer.
You crack me up with your humor. Great job with the tree. Glad Steve is on the road to recovery. Thanks Michy!
I love the episodes where the dogs play a supporting role. Koda is such a cute young guy!
... You did great with the tree cutting ... All those dogs are living their best life with you and Steve ... Good to hear he's healing ... Stay Safe ..
I enjoy the videos you make for us. Looking forward to the extension of your existing home to house your workshop.
Thank you so much for your hard work and humor.
Great idea for the workshop. Thank you for the enjoyable videos. And I hope you make yourself happy making the videos. They are art, and the artist says when they're work is done.
Thank you for sharing the goings-on in your life. You are such a lovely person!
Great news about Steve! And great idea about your workshop!
Beauty and a sense of humor 2 great traits to have ❤
Totally agree. Michy's eyes are hypnotic once I see them I can't stop looking at them
Ya.
your many paws joke is a good one!
Michelle, I love watching and listening to you
You are an amazing, resourceful, caring woman. God blessed Steve to have you in his life. Amazing, thank you for your videos
Hi Michelle. You will learn more and more ways to use the bobcat, chains and straps to make your projects less stressful on your body. You have a great head on your sholder. I know you will continue to figure more ways to work smater than harder. Good job being your first huge tree dropping. Always love watching you deal with your projects. Your so easy on my eyes and give you credit for fantastic videos. Your my favorite u tuber. Praying for Steves quick recovery. Till the next video...stay safe and happy. ❤
Love your videos, scenery, the dogs, your soh. But I just can't help smiling every time I see Clyde. What a great dog.
Happy for your intended new workshop.
I think you should just post videos whenever you can and not worry too much about it❤ dogs are the heartbeat of us they bring so much pleasure into our lives we would be lonely without dogs so thank you for the video and showing us your family❤ you take care I hope Steve is going to get better real soon❤ and we will see you on the next one thank you❤
Michelle, I missed your absence last Sunday. You mean a lot to me with your wit and charm. I so wondered we’re you were! So glad to find a new video today.
I have never felled a tree yet. I hope I never have to. I am proud you got brave enough to get your own trees for your mill. That takes courage. Thank you for making such great and enjoyable videos. I live in Melbourne, Florida and we are very far from each other physically, but the miles mean nothing when we have contact through great technology such as your videos. Thanks so much.
Que Steve este bien pronto!!! ❤
What do you call a man with a spade in his head?

Praise the Lord for helping Steve over the hump. I’ve had back, neck and knee replacement surgeries, so I understand what he’s going through. May the Lord bless and keep you both.
"There is no beauty where there is not some strangeness in the mix" Or something like that. What a treat you are.
Great news with Steve and Kota. They are blessed to have you in their lives. Great job with the tree also, I'm glad you asked for help. I have been guilty of downing way too many trees alone myself. I was 40 years younger and full of confidence. I was wrong too.
One suggestion I would give. Purchasing a proper set of logging chains could also save your life. You would only need a couple, but they are intended for the exact use you have. They are designed for binding on the log where eye hooks tend to slip. I nearly lost my life back then when a hook slipped under stain, missing my head by inches. We all hope you have a great week. Peace be with you and your family.
Bwahaha!!! You're just a guy in a great bod! 😂Clyde looked almost jealous when you tickled that saw...
Good to hear Steve is recovering, good to see you back outside. Thank you for sharing. Paul
Thankyou for finding Koda a new home, he deserved it
And you did a good job on that tree, life is a big learning curve
I like your workshop idea. Congrats to Steve on his recovery.
My Dogs & Cats are grateful the fireworks are over. Been a rough few days for them. Thunderstorms also keep them up & terrify them.
The add on workshop is a brilliant idea! 👏✔✔👍❤
Hi Michelle - It is always good to take a break when the need arises. Have a great productive week ahead.
I am more of a cat person than a dog person, but your extended canine coverage was very nice! Especially at the end!
Great video! Really enjoy your calming narrative and thoughtful, logical explanation along with showing the outcome. You pull no “you tube” punches and include bits of humor all while helping people learn from your adventures. Very genuine and super fun to watch!
Thank you Michelle for being so transparent and very cool!! I look forward to you milling "Doug" down to lumber, and an update on Steve, and the dogs, and the deck, and the cliff cabin oh my!! A little bit busy and so understood!! Thank you!
Sundays could not have a better spokesperson. That endorsement was amazing.
Oh my ! I think Clyde was a little jealous they way you were tickling that new saw .....
I LOVE the sound of thunder reverberating off the mountains!
Best wishes to Steve in his recovery. 👍👍👍👍👍 And look at you go, girl, with that tree! Glad Bruce was there to spot, even though things changed from your orighnal approach. 👏 Safety 3rd!😅 I hung my hammock in the cedars by the big K lake for a week recently. 👍😎🇨🇦👌🌸 Workshop plans sound awesome!!
Love your soul, Michelle.
Great decision on the shop. I find that space constraints makes for better efficiency.
I love how you problem solve. Thank you for sharing your life with us. Your ads are the best on RUclips!
I've just watched 5 hours of your content and i must say you are absolutely amazingly talented.
Thanks for sharing
Michelle for leaners should you do a bore cut to prevent barber chair? Maybe for the next Dougie. Sounds weird Dougie. Have fun 😊
It's so good to hear Steve is doing better! I know how intense back pain can be!
I have a 261C. It's a terrific saw. You're going to love it. I also have a Husky 435 which isn't even really a chainsaw compared to the Stihl 261C. The power to weight ratio of the 261 is fantastic. I have mind fitted with a 20" light bar. As a result of being a DIY Guy for decades (I'm 82) I have come to realize a fundamental truth: No matter how big you build it, the shop will be too small.
I really love the idea of the shop addition and remember one thing, you can’t go back later so be certain of your plans. Glad Steve is doing better 🙏 take care always 😊
Great to hear Steve is doing better😊 I think you didn't awesome job felling the tree 😊 Thanks for another wonderful video mitchy ❤ You're a godsend to all those puppies 😊
Always be true to you, your family and those you love.
Man I am glad Steve is doing better . You are having just to much fun . I love to do that stuff
NO THANK YOU MICHELLE , REALLY REALLY LOVE WATCHING YOU AND WHAT YOU DO , I LOVE EVERYTHING THING YOU DO , ALL THE VERY BEST TO YOU AND STEVE AND ALL YOUR BEAUTIFUL DOGS .
Anytime I get a tree down and nobody is hurt and no property damage....its a win. I absolutely understand what you're talking about with help.
Thank you for your amazing content. Love your work.
Thank You for making videos for US!
Another tip for you is. I have a large hook on one end of my drag chain and a regular hook on the other end, so when you rap around a tree with big hook to the chain. It acts like a choker and tightens up on the tree.
Important tip for chain-dragging.
When you latch your hook back onto the chain, after looping around whatever, latch onto the under side of the chain if possible. This gives greater surety that the latch won't slip apart.
Yeah, you got it right the second time round with the second log.
Thanks for posting your tree job. The segment at the end with the foster pup got me. 1 1/2 yrs has passed since ours passed away. Cant bring ourself to foster yet so it was nice to get puppy fix on your channel
Congratulations on finally picking out a spot for your first workshop on this property! Like I said earlier, close by is better so you can take care of so many other things. I think it’s a great idea and no big deal on dropping that tree! Great job.! 👍👍👍🇨🇱🇺🇸
I bought a nose cone that goes around the end of the log when dragging it thru the woods. Cone has a slot in the nose to feed the chain or strap thru. Works great keeps the mud off the log end😊
Hey Michelle, I got to tell you the peanut butter on the dog leg is out of this world. What a great idea. My border collie is very unhappy when it comes to thunder and lightning, and even though she gets gummy’s, she still is not liking the thunder. It would be easier if it was creamy not chunky peanut butter. And she also have her own dedicated jar since I don’t want to have dog hair in my peanut butter. Really enjoy watching the life of Michelle and Steve and all the dogs.
Glenn
M, I really admire your stamina, and devotion to your pups! Nice to know about "Sundays" dog foods. We don't have a pup, but would like one someday.
You're so cool, and so damned funny! Yano, most of us would find the time to watch daily videos from you, but none of us are upset because you miss a video here and there. YOU come first, then Steve, then the pets, then us. Everyone loves you and what you do, and we do understand.
No hate on Bruce, but you were making a perfect back cut, so I agree with you that you really didn't need his help. It's good to have someone with you, but doing your own work is best.
You rock, MG! 😁
Oh, you've got your own Hobbit room (first minute)! Great video as always. It's always a joy to watch your creations and share a bit of your goings on. Amazing work taking down that giant tree. YOU did great.
Awesome content today good on you falling the tree from Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺
great tio hear that Steve is on the mend. Love to see the" Pack" . Looks like there is a couple other trees that need to be removed. More wood for the sawmill. BE safe
The 261 is the best l. So light and manuverable. I have a light 18" bar on it and it's like a scalpel. I can cut, limb and buck a tree with plenty of power to spare.
I have never commented on anyones video before but I just wanted to say thank you. Your content always makes me smile and I enjoy watching what you are up to next. Happy Steve is doing better (back surgery sucks) been there done that. I look forward to watching your videos because you do it for us. Appreciate that. Thank you!!
Heading up the AlCan soon. I’m looking forward to seeing Canada. Looks like a great time.
What ever you do on your properties makes great entertaining content, as for the Stihl👍👍. Dead standing trees are unpredictable and dangerous, always look up to check for anything coming down. Thanks for sharing your lifestyle with us.
If only your pups / dogs could talk . But they do show through their actions , how content , happy , at peace they are , with you in their lives . Oh , and this includes Steve , who is on his mental holiday 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 . MANYPAWS 😂😂🤣🤣🤣😁😁. Look forward to your next episode .
Good for you, I’ll keep watching. I love dogs
Superb video. Educational and entertaining. Good job. Thanks for your advocacy for your animals.
Hi , wanted to say this , just a few days ago a young man was doing clean up after some storm damage to some trees . He was helping with loading branches into a loader when something went wrong and took his life . He was 17 yrs old ,, a fireman where he was from . It was on out local news in pa USA yesterday . He was not cutting Down trees . Just placing big limbs into the loader they were using . Cutting down leaning trees that are very tall is a dangerous job even for a veteran logger . Ya just don’t know what can go wrong . Always seek out experienced cutter when doing so .
YES BY ALL MEANS THAT'S A GREAT IDEA, YOU REALLY DO NEED A WORK SHOP FOR YOUR PROJECTS . YOU WILL HAVE A LOT OF FUN AND WILL BE MUCH EASIER FOR YOU TO GET THINGS DONE . I LIKE THE WAY YOU THINK GIRL.
looking forward to the workshop build.
4:40 there's a third way, well, third and fourth; fall it perpendicular to the lean. You won't have to push it very much, just a couple wedges.
I can’t wait to see the deck and the new work shop
Yay Michy! - A new Stihl chainsaw, I was all excited and I don't even have one as I live in a rental house in the city... but would surely do if I was "in the styx"! Good stuff felling those old trees. Nicely done getting them up to the mill with the Bobcat. So pleased for Steve's slow, but steady recovery. I love the idea of you guys extending the house to fit a workshop. Very sensible for power and facilities. Being slightly smaller will give you lots of scope to be super efficient with designing what machinery and where to have it put, so it becomes a super efficient workspace. Bring it on! I love what you do... Cheers from NZL, David ❤
You are not afraid of much not even admitting you made a mistake. Good job after ALL that you are going for a run, Strong also. thank you stay safe
The shop is a great idea! Just make sure the main door is big enough!
Suggestion for the off-cut Hemlock slabs; railings for the cabin-in-the-cliff porch/deck.
Many of the commenters NAG you about installing railing and you have a wealth of material. Win/Win.
Cheers from a former Castlegar guy, now in the Willamette Valley, Oregon.
Awesomeness... HELL FRIGGEN Yeh.. You are Amazing... The Best to Steve's recovery an getting better.... 👍👊💥✌️☮️
Good to know, business as usual, Steve's recovery and be Safe.
Great job finding Coda a forever home. He looks like a love bug! I'm going to try Sundays dog food. My golden has pancreatitis so it might help her to stay healthy.
Enjoying your videos so much! All the best to you, Steve and the dogs from Finland :)
Moi from England 👍
Another great video from the canadian wildness, thanks for sharing your adventures.
it's standard practise to make your cut 2 inches above the wedge... it helps prevent the but from kicking back 180 from the direction of the fall.
Hey Kiddo... you crack me up.......another great video of you just being the wonderful you..best to Steve
That was a good size tree. 🌲 nice new saw.
Thank you for pointing out your mistakes on the deadfall. I'm planning to do my first big cut next year and this video confirmed a great deal of what I was only thinking about. Stay safe and thanks for sharing.
Great video , so glad Steve is on the mend .
HI! You have earned my respect for your accomplishments many times! Wish you all the best, and to Steve, a quick return to health and strength! And pats to all the doggies!
Yet again an amazing video. Hope Steve is doing well and on the mend. Stay safe.
Another delightful video Michelle, it's obvious that you have a heart of gold. You already mentioned not looking up when falling - as you ring the tree, any high time faller will stress - look up, again and again. Someday, it may save your life.
