I am from Mooresville, Indiana, the very small town John Dillinger and his family lived in for a while. We have family friends who own the house they lived in. My family and I were at a local restaurant in town, and my 4 year old son was wearing a Fedora hat and a vest...A man came up to us and handed us a photo of Dillinger...Dillinger was his great great uncle, and seeing my son in his "dapper" clothing, as he said, reminded him of Dillinger.
Somewhat interesting to note that Lizzie's headstone shows 1880 as her birth year, whereas Wikipedia shows 1878. Also, if John's mother passed in 1907, and his father remarried in 1912, he waited 5 years to make an honest man of himself with Miss Lizzie, and as a reward, he is now buried with both wives as bookends.
My parents used to talk a lot about John Dillinger. They used to talk about going to the Biograph theater where he was shot. My dad was there ten years after the event, so he probably got to see it nearly the way it was in 1934. My mom was born and raised in Chicago, so she probably went to the Biograph often and as early as 1934. My aunt talked about getting confined by Chicago gangsters back then. She escaped through a window. I recorded her story on video. My mom also had such a story, but it wasn't quite as dramatic.
Its a shame they have to keep replacing his headstone. If you want a momento, take a picture. Don't desecrate someone's headstone. That just makes me sad.
Well I am a Christian so I believe we are judged when we die by the only judge that really matters. I also believe that he is paying for his sins. I still find it disgusting to desecrate a tomb stone. Whether you liked the person or not, they are dead. Fighting hate with hate has never fixed anything.

According to prison records Lizzie worked harder to gain John's early release and parole, wrote more letters to John and public officials and visited him more than any other relative. John loved her and thought of her as his only mother because his birth mother Mollie died when John was only three years old. According to publications, John Sr. said he raised John along with a nanny until he remarried. John Sr. married Elizabeth fields from Mooresville, Indiana. On some occassions John would stay with his older sister Audrey who had a large family. Audrey did love John dearly but did not have the time to actually raise John as has been often misreported.

For year's Dillingers father's grave was the one that got chipped on first because people assumed that the father died first age wise. Had they just paid attention to the BORN date on the stone they would've figured it out. That cemetery named Crown Hill also has former President Benjamin Harrison it as well as Civil War vet's along with many policeman. Poet James Whitcomb Riley is there too. It's now in the Ghetto so many people visiting deceased loved one's have been robbed & raped there too. Fact. I was an Indpls Policeman there for 2 year's. Indpls was also Elvis Presleys last concert at Market Square Arena now torn down. I'm never going back there again. Retired in Florida now.

The airport has a different version than what is used at the NWS stations. That is TDWR radar, it's shorter range than your normal Doppler radar but it has extremely high picture quality unlike the NWS radar.

Those gas pumps are compressed natural gas pumps. There are a few fleets of vehicles around that use natural gas. Clean burning and somewhat cheaper.

I remember back in 94, my family and I were passing through Indianapolis on our way to visit family in Northern Indiana, and we stopped to gas up at a dinky-dink corner gas station outside the big City. Since the guy working there pumped our gas, my father took that opportunity to head towards the bathroom before hitting the road again. He came back about 15 minutes later, with a little story. He claimed that when he was done with his business, he stepped out of the bathroom which was located near the outside rear of the gas station, and an elderly man was slowly walking through the back towards the freeway entrance. He was wearing all black, with an old, worn out black baron hat, and a leather suitcase. He introduced himself to my father simply as 'John' and went on his way. He had to of been every bit of 90+ years old. Crazy either way.

the round looking thing on the tower is dopier radar used to track local weather conditions. ever look at your phone or computer to get the current weather? chances are the info comes from a dopier radar station around your area......lizzie (Elizabeth) Dillinger was johns stepmother.
The airport has a different version than what is used at the NWS stations. That is TDWR radar, it's shorter range than your normal Doppler radar but it has extremely high picture quality unlike the NWS radar.

I ask John's nephew why he was listed as a junior and for once he did not have an answer for it. As for the concrete poured on his grave to stop grave robbers that is true it was guarded until the concrete was poured
Mike as Francis son and very much alive he is only 63 I saw him Sunday he is very much alive I ask him about John surviving and not being in Chicago that night and he said if he did he never contacted the family John made a apperance at the family farm and had been shot in the thigh Mike's Mom then about 11 sat on his knee and it opened up and began to bleed no one knew about this publictly when John died Mike's father looked for that scar on his thigh and it was there
