  • Hedge Trimmer Blades Won’t Rotate ( Can Mend it Man Fix it ) 🤔🔧🪛
    Hi welcome to another Mend It Man video, in this video I take a look and see if I can repair a Tanaka hedge trimmer that runs but the blades don’t rotate. So firstly I delve into the gearbox to see if it can be saved, if it can it’s not worth spend a lot on so I have to see whether I can repair on a budget. I rate Tanaka machines they are a good tool, please watch and see if Mend it Man can fix this hedge trimmer, Hope you enjoy the video. Thanks for watching 🙂👍

    Please Subscribe to my channel - I have lots of machines which means going forward I will never be short of content, lots of my videos are small engine related but I do have bigger vehicles to which I also like to work on and improve.
    JUST TO NAME SOME-
    2x Land Rover Defenders, Subaru Impreza WRX Turbo Wagon, VW T4 Transporter, Ford Transit Campervan.
    5x Puch Maxi Mopeds, a Lambretta Scooter, a Yamaha MX100 motorcycle.
    Also lots and lots of garden power equipment. All this will give me years and years of content, so with all that it makes my channel well worth Subscribing to 😀
    A bit about me I grew up around engine’s as my dad was always a car mechanic and that’s how I learnt about them and liked working on engine’s. As the years have gone on my passion for working on engines has grown even more, unfortunately for me my dad slowed down working on cars when I was around 20 in the 90s, So the career I always thought I would have didn’t materialise and I become a gardener, but what do gardeners use? Power tools so that’s when I learnt all about power tools small engine, 80% of my work tools Mowers, Strimmers, Hedge Trimmers, Blowers were bought secondhand and most of them broken and I fixed them up. Most have been high end tools, Honda, Stihl, Kubota, Kawasaki, Husqvarna etc etc the list goes on I’ve worked on loads and usually managed to fix tools that were destined for the scrap heap. I have learnt so much and I pass a massive amount of that on in my videos, so watching my video could save you a small fortune in repair bills, so another great reason to subscribe to my channel.
    Going forward I have plans to faze out my day job and work with the engine stuff much, much more that’s my dream, I also like restoring machines as well. So I’m always adding more and more tools to help me along the way. So the more support I have on RUclips means that my dream may come sooner than I think it will 🤞 I’ll do my bit with the video if you can do your bit to help it could be a great journey forward, thank you for watching my channel I massively appreciate it 🙂👍

    I would have had to change that bearing Luke. Only about £5.00

      I agree in an ideal world I would have, but there are 2 bearings on this top and bottom, bottom one was cheaper about £5 top was nearer £10, as it’s probably a £65 hedge trimmer unfortunately I couldn’t stretch to that. But I think it’s quiet enough 🙂👍

      Before I started I thought that part would be the problem, it must be so much soft metal than the other cog as that one had very little wear on it, cheap secondhand part did the trick and saved the tool 🙂👍

    Hi Luke, nice little easy fix👍
    I've been buying Castrol high temperature wheel bearing grease in tubes as a replacement to Stihls rip off. Had good luck with it for a few yrs now.

      That’s why I bought this grease, the Stihl stuff is just to expensive, seemed good stuff 🙂👍

      @menditman2004  2 года назад +1

      I’ve always liked Tanaka on the website I looked at they could still be bought new, but perhaps that’s outdated I’m not sure but it would be a shame if they have stopped 🙂👍

    That’s done the trick with a Birmingham screwdriver Luke and a bit of shopping, good job. Keeping these repairs economic must go against your love for these machines especially that bearing being so rumbly. But it’s definitely got to be give and take I suppose

    • @menditman2004
      @menditman2004  2 года назад +1

      Yes I would have loved to have put new bearings in it, but with postage they were going to cost around £20 add that to the part I had to buy, that’s £30 plus another £7 odd for service parts. I think I’d be lucky to get £65 for the machine so I just couldn’t justify that expense on this machine. If it had been my own work machine it would definitely have had new bearings in it, but tbh it’s not that noisy it’s much quieter than I thought it would be. It lives again and if kept greased up I can’t see any reason it won’t last a few years 🙂👍
