Tony, thank you for so many wonderful nights all around Ireland, last seen ye in tullamore, 2 yrs ago, was just as electric as first time hearing ye, Christy was beside my aunt in Beaumont last year, he had them all laughing
Legends tony, best band to come out of ireland, the peoples band, ballymun man here neighbours 😄, R. I. P christy you're songs and music will live on forever ❤️
As an Irish man living in Taiwan, I can't thank you enough for doing this. We lost Christy. He was Finglas, he was Dublin, he was ours. We don't have many people like that now.
He will be sadly missed. You have Hot House Flowers and the Water boys. The Queen of all music Enya. ❤. However we will miss Christy. I'm from Manchester living in the USA
I seen Tony play with them a few times, I got to know him when he worked in Trimdown, Abbey St, he went off to Australia, how is he getting on, tell him I said hi !
RIP Christy, Ireland 🇮🇪 Dublin all broken-hearted at your passing. 10 year battle with cancer. You are only a month gone and the whole country is still shocked. You had a troubled life and still a generous beautiful human being till the end
Aslan are widely recognised as the biggest Irish band to have not made it on the world stage. Their countless gigs at home here were always packed & Christy & the lads always gave the fans 100% in every way. Fantastic band ❤ RIP Christy 🙏
I have been listening to this song since the late 1980's. It captures what life was like in Ireland at this time. It was amazing to see your reaction listening to this song for the first time.Great review. RIP Christy Dignan and UP The DUBS.
This band are from my beloved Dublin, they were the most under rated band ever.Christy was the lead singer and passed away recently, thank you for sharing this. They need to get back on the road and keep going for the love and memory of Christy ❤
As an Irish man, Christy represented so much for us. He was a man of the people and someone everyone on our island truly respected. Life gave him a hard dig but he was resilient and released music that will be played and celebrated for generations. Rest in Peace Christy and thank you for showing appreciation on this channel and in these comments.
Pink Floyd singer, said that their version of " wish you were here" was the best he heard, i agree. I prefer Aslan's version of the rolling stones " Angie '. !! 💚
Love this - and crazy world. The Blades - some people smile, worth a go / grown up song about relationships Fat lady sings / arc light also amazing. Marxman/Smead O’Connor / ship ahoy will surprise you.
Aslan were bigger than U2 at one stage in Ireland. Christy is the songwriter and performer Bono wishes he was. Christy was a legend. Great song selection to introduce you to the legendary Aslan 👍😎👌
Thank you for reviewing this! Amazing review, you really caught the significance of this song. Also, as per your question; Christy had a verrrry strong Dublin accent. So yes, Irish!
I was at that gig , brilliant but the lead made a album when he was thrown out for addiction. He made 1 album with conor goff , martin. And hartbeat are 2 of the best from a epic album
To see you even listening to this has just made every Irish persons day! Thank you so much for this. Christy was and always will be one of irelands greatest. May his soul rest in peace. Definitely lives in our hearts over here in Eire.
I was standing right beside the “half way line” guy that night ❤ and proud to have been now that we have lost Christy 😢 lives beside Billy (playing acoustic guitar and doing B/V’s during bridge) for many years in Bettystown - amazing Dublin institution and although they didn’t win worldwide acclaim for a few unfortunate reasons….. they fucking EASILY could have ❤
My friends Asian where are to be the world's biggest band unfortunately the lead singer Christy who just past away last week came upon hard times we'll say and haulted there success, please look into there made in Dublin album it's a piece of Irish history thanks my friend, r.i.p Christy( Dublins favourite son )
Crazy World great song from the same concert really well done. Christy was a troubled man a great empathy, for others may be at the detriment to himself
As a person coming into this blind you absolutely nailed it in your analysis. This is a massive cultural thing for Ireland/Dublin. You were so spot on as someone who had no idea coming into it. Christy and aslan are national treasures and thank you for recognising that.
As far as i know, they are an Irish group they became famous??? In Ireland that lead singer died this year RIP from Cancer he had a addiction to???? Drugs i know no more im an old lady not up on Aslan but seen on u tube big funeral🇮🇪☘️
I’ve seen these guys three times. And every time they put on a gig that could easily be replicated in a stadium, I don’t fully understand the reasons, but there are reasons why they had trouble breaking internationally. But they hard-core fans in Ireland and the amount of gigs they have done over 30 years means basically every member of the audience knows the singalongs and in what way they are expected to interact in the bridge. It’s a magical experience. The Antman shows I’ve ever been to in my life where the crowd is actively singing different background vocals to the lead because they know it so well. Usually the crowd follows the lead singer rigidly, that’s not the case with these guys. I saw them with their new singer a little over a month ago and it was just as good. Not the same as with the last singer, he was one of a kind, but they deserve all the luck
For the Irish average working class people this is without a doubt the best song and best band ever to come out of Ireland. The people get knocked down pushed down but still keep getting up. Then go an conquer the world! Well done Aslan and we’ll done Christy
Underated lyricist. These are the hands of a tired man This is the old man's shroud These are the eyes of the blood crazed tiger Staring at the maddening crowd This is the face of a teenage mother This is the child she bears This is the soul of her broken lover Searching for the smiles they shared These are the feet of the punished pilgrim And in his book of punished love You see his eyes, you see no surprise Waiting for a lie that's true Everybody hits you with this feeling Nobody seems to understand Yeah you stop, you look You're searching for the meaning (Wasting your life away) These are the dreams of a sleeping father And in his long lost days He sees a child He sees his eyes Waiting for the price he's paid These are the tears of a fallen idol And in his smile of shattered love You see his eyes You see no surprise You just see lights then realise Everybody hits you with this feeling Nobody seems to understand Yeah you stop, you look You're searching for the meaning (Wasting your life away) Oh here with you There's no one here like you And no one moves like you Nobody touches like you Everybody hits you with this feeling Nobody seems to understand Yeah you stop, you look You're searching for the meaning Everybody hits you with this feeling Nobody seems to understand Yeah you stop, you look You're searching for the meaning Everybody hits you And everybody knocks you down You stop you look you're searching, you stop you look you're searching Everybody hits you And everybody knocks you down Everybody hits you And everybody knocks you down
Aslan have an amazing catalogue. If you're unaware if them as you seem to be then the next go to song just has to be Crazy World, and also go for the live at Vicar Street version too. Hurt Sometimes, Down on Me, and my personal favourite Please Don't Go are all must listens.
You are gone from our lives Christy ! But your music will live on forever in our hearts !! Sleep well Mate all your pain is gone now ? You will be forever in our hearts?
They were a very working class Dublin band. Tipped to go global around the same time as U2. Incidentally formed in north Dublin U2 were private school middle class kids. But addiction halted Aslans course. They are huge in Ireland. The lead singer Christy Dignam passed a few weeks ago. The script another Working class Dublin band credit Aslan as one of their influences. Crazy world is another anthem song to us Dubs
Haha...im glad Aslan brought you back to the the days you were growing up ...hip hop..frank Sinatra....just goes to show the strength of this song..nice one 😊
Not one for this kind of react video, but this popped up on reccomendeds and well I'm a simple Gael: I see Aslan/Chirsty I give it a click...... We lost yer man just recently, long battle with cancer. I think theres at least 2 generations of us Irish for whom these guys soundtracked a good portion of our lives. He was a Finglas man, a Dublin man, but he was no jackeen, loved by jackeens (city/dublin people) and culchies (countryside/not dublin people). Vastly underrated, especially internationally! It's a bit cliche but you should definitely check out Aslans song Crazy World its a great tune!

Underated lyricist.
These are the hands of a tired man
This is the old man's shroud
These are the eyes of the blood crazed tiger
Staring at the maddening crowd
This is the face of a teenage mother
This is the child she bears
This is the soul of her broken lover
Searching for the smiles they shared
These are the feet of the punished pilgrim
And in his book of punished love
You see his eyes, you see no surprise
Waiting for a lie that's true
Everybody hits you with this feeling
Nobody seems to understand
Yeah you stop, you look
You're searching for the meaning
(Wasting your life away)
These are the dreams of a sleeping father
And in his long lost days
He sees a child
He sees his eyes
Waiting for the price he's paid
These are the tears of a fallen idol
And in his smile of shattered love
You see his eyes
You see no surprise
You just see lights then realise
Everybody hits you with this feeling
Nobody seems to understand
Yeah you stop, you look
You're searching for the meaning
(Wasting your life away)
Oh here with you
There's no one here like you
And no one moves like you
Nobody touches like you
Everybody hits you with this feeling
Nobody seems to understand
Yeah you stop, you look
You're searching for the meaning
Everybody hits you with this feeling
Nobody seems to understand
Yeah you stop, you look
You're searching for the meaning
Everybody hits you
And everybody knocks you down
You stop you look you're searching, you stop you look you're searching
Everybody hits you
And everybody knocks you down
Everybody hits you
And everybody knocks you down
Christy. We miss you and your beautiful troubled loving soul that will live on in your great songs!☘️rest well man😢
RIP Christy. Legend 💚🤍🧡🇮🇪🙏🏻🕯
A great song, rip christy, thank you from an irish woman
Christy would have loved your take on the song ...))
So good to see you react to this. Your reactions are fantastic. This song is very special in Ireland. 🍀
Drug addiction is the main reason Aslan did not go global.
This Is & Crazy World are both masterpieces.
Even in this performance he's strung out on heroin seemingly
Check out the version of him singing it with a guy in piano. Search Christy dignam nighthawks this is
And the actual original record is top class
Aslan have an amazing catalogue. If you're unaware if them as you seem to be then the next go to song just has to be Crazy World, and also go for the live at Vicar Street version too. Hurt Sometimes, Down on Me, and my personal favourite Please Don't Go are all must listens.
Wow, nobody reacts to Aslan. 👏

I agree with with your reaction MrBoyd 🙏
I just discovered him...too late. Thank you!

Can’t believe how young Christy looks here. They could have been a much bigger band
Dublin Ireland is devasted like the rest of Ireland.
On the passing of Christy
May he rest in peace.
