  • When defense attorney Jesse Bright was pulled over in North Carolina while moonlighting as an #Uber driver, he began filming the encounter. Allegedly, he had been pulled over for picking up a passenger from a known 'drug house,' but that didn't stop Bright from continuing to film, despite the police officers incorrectly telling him that it was illegal to do so.

      2) as an officer, they should know the law. and they shouldn't abuse it, they aren't worthy of the job if they do.

    On a different note, my uncle who was a sheriff in Florida for 25 years told me that if a cop EVER takes you in for questioning, never, ever talk to them without an attorney present. This is because they are legally allowed to lie to you, and threaten you with arrest, even if they have zero reason/ability to do so.

      to add to this, NEVER talk to cops, even as a witness to a crime, without an attorney present. even people who have gone in voluntarily to help police investigations have ultimately been charged with the crime itself because the police decided to be lazy and corrupt. do NOT trust the police.

    All five police officers should have been fired that evening, while I’m a person who would normally stand up for police officers doing their jobs correctly I’m getting tired of them thinking they are judges and police officers they are not.       I have all my stuff (insurance cards, registration, and title) in an envelope in my glove box, so if I'm ever stopped I just hand them the whole envelope.
      And I always keep a screenshot on my phone of my insurance cards just in case 😁

      It's essentially legalized robbery. It's a law where the police can determine (based on nothing but their whim) that some of your belongings have been involved in criminal activity. You aren't charged with anything, but your things are. and the money they get from Civil Forfeiture can be spent on ridiculous things like a Zamboni or a margarita machine... They just ask if you have money on you, takes that money and uses it to purchase toys. Based on nothing but their whim. They even stole a house, the son of the house was charged with possession and selling of drugs, but instead of charging the parents for being accomplishes, they charged the house and evicted the family. remember only the son was charged, no charges were levied against the parents, meaning they are innocent, but they were evicted regardless.

      @@mackten7220 He's being sarcastic by drawing comparisons between what the opposite side would say. Police are always lying about their situation to suit their needs and he was showing just how easy it is to twist or bend a narrative.
      At least, I believe that's the easiest way to interpret it without having to get into the real politics.

      There is a video of a New York terrorism detective verbally abusing an Uber driver and admitting that he would issue him a false court summons just to abuse him and the law, there was no legal punishment for the officer as its legal for officers to abuse driver if they are tired or under stress.

      The reason he mentioned he's a lawyer was to tell the ignorant cops that he's aware of the law and they can't fool him, e.g if someone isn't aware of the law, they would've done what the police told them.
