- An off-duty police officer pulled his gun on a man buying candy at a convenience store in Southern California. The officer apparently thought a crime was happening, but he was wrong. The man and his family don't want the mistake to be swept under the rug. CBS Los Angeles' Jeff Nguyen reports from Buena Park, California.

If I were to pull a gun on someone when I am not in danger, it would be called felony aggravated assault.

The good cops arrested and charged the bad cop for aggrivated assault.

HOW WAS HE SUPPOSED TO PUT THE MENTOS BACK WITHOUT PULLING THEM OUT OF THE POCKET?
@@francaz581 That's what DarkZerol highlighted, it was a misunderstanding between both parties. The cop thought the man was pulling out something while he was ruffling through his pocket because he thought the man was pulling out a weapon, notice how the cop only pulled out his gun while the man was about to pull something out of his pocket. You go look up various news article talking about this before judging by this video alone.
An off duty cop carrying a gun in his pocket and willing to hold a man at gunpoint for suspecting him of shop lifting is unacceptable and he should lose his badge.
Yeah, aren't there safer ways to carry a weapon, even concealed, other than your pocket??
How about a holster 🤔🤔
It's a misdemeanour as well which makes it all the worse. Usually misdemeanour thefts result in a fine.
Did anyone else notice how he fumbled around with the gun while he was pulling it. Looked like he damn near dropped it.
Justin Stephens keystone cop style 😆😆
Pulling a weapon over a 2 dollar roll of candy is not a good indication that this officer has a firm grip on reality,
The cocky, inferior, incompetent, power tripping cop pulls out a gun over a $2 piece of candy?! He shouldn't even be a Mall Cop.
This person needs to be removed if he can just easily pull a gun on someone for a 2-3 dollar pack of mentos imagine wat else he will do in the line if duty smh pigs are out of control they are the ones committing crimes all over the world in broad daylight
Even if he had shoplifted, you don't pull a gun on someone over a couple of dollars worth of candy.
Especially when you're not on dury
1$
Try and rob a candy from me and see what happens!
mentos? LESS THAN A DOLLAR
A couple dollars? Mentos is prolly around 50-75 cents
Cop needs to find out what’s going on before he accuses someone.
The cop needs to be fired. He pulled a gun on a man because he thought he stole some candy. This is absolutely ridiculous.
Damn imagine losing your life over a pack of mentos smfh
That u paid for
Lmfaoo
Travon Martin did over a pack of skittles
That you paid for
メん乇ᄃイの尺 I mean, an entire family almost lost their lives over a barbie doll so....
Thank god he pulled the gun, he prevented the store from going bankrupt from the potential loss of a 99c item.
LOL!
Truest sarcasm. Sparta was technically the birthplace of shoplifters. It was necessary if you were twelve, in the military, and wanted to live to see thirteen... Good job, Kratos. You suicidal thief.
Unless it was on sale for 50 cents
whats even worse is that it wouldn't even be a loss....he paid for it
Ba ha ha ha.....!!!
The citizen nailed it when he described the cop's attitude and arrogance, not the sheer act of pulling and cocking the gun. Its the feeling of an absolute power over the citizens that makes cops so unhinged and dangerous. Its knowing they are protected by an illegal, questionable doctrine like qualified immunity. Its the despise they feel toward the members of the public, the total impunity, lack of education, lack of empathy, killer mentality taught in police academies. Make no mistake, police are NOT honorable people, nor are they trained to "serve and protect". Police agenda is completely different!
Had I been the worker, I would have told the cop to leave and never come back.
Exactly! He humiliated the clerk as much or more than the customer. By taking control and usurping his authority to run his store...
"you stole that now take your cash back and leave"😂 WHAT???
Make sure that cop never makes detective
_We investigated ourselves and found nothing wrong...._
I would just say, "If the mentos means that much to you have it piggy. I'll BUY another." Or just stared him down as he made his purchase and said "Just making sure you aren't shop lifting." Dumb cop could have justifiably gotten himself shot pulling a gun out of uniform with no badge.
@@arynnritter4293 I wonder if the shopkeeper thought he was about to get robbed.
@@jeffc5974 I know he did. At least for a split second. Would have been great if he called the police. "I have a customer in here waving a gun around and saying he's an officer of the law. Please hurry he seems unhinged." Luckily this store had camera because obviously no body cam.
Unfortunately we all know he will be promoted to Detective
That cop has issues that training won’t solve. He needs emotional counseling, while not working as a cop.
He needs to pick a different career
Hopefully he works in Chicago or Detroit police department.
Yeah, that's not a cure for being a sociopath. He does deserve to lose his job and prison time
No, he just needs to be locked down in prison, that way he will be fine
@@balajiedlyngdoh8366 no
Even if he stole candy, pull a loaded gun?
That cop needs to be charged with assult
Months later, police: "We have investigated ourselves in this matter and find no wrongdoing. "
Timbrock1000 lol
"Officer Candy believed that he was witnessing a crime and acted within the scope of his authority."
Timbrock1000 u want to join a gang that's above the law & can get away with anything & have your other lying gang members agree with you no matter what, than don't join the bloods or the crips, join the COPS
Timbrock1000 😊😊Basically
Timbrock1000
Which other police involved episode did you copy that comment off of?
So sorry that this happened to you. I hope the cop is disciplined.
notice he didnt pull his badge out, he pulled his gun out.... what does that tell you?
Bob Eagle the man could’ve had come with those mentos, bomb building is a terrorist offense
ya sounds like something dirty cops and prosecutors would say as an excuse to break the law. They would actually convince themselves that it was reasonable.
if he pulled his badge instead there would be no danger. He was more at risk of getting a taste of his own medicine by pulling the gun. The shopper didnt know he was a cop and may well have pulled his own gun and shot him. Quite frankly he would have deserved it.
that tell you to pull out your gun and shoot him because you think he's trying to rob the place
Exactly Pee Pee
We need to protest for strick punishment for cops like this
The clerk was scared. He probably though he was getting robbed. Imagine his impression of police in this country.
Mans pulled out a gun before even knowing the situation, he made assumptions and put peoples lives in danger unnecessarily. Perfect example of why people don’t like modern policing.
That is exactly why I think the “cop” should be in prison for doing that. That is psychotic behavior & is a danger to the public
See how long it took him to pull his firearm? Tell me his name isn't keystone!
Illegally brandishing a gun, right?
In defense even though I do not care for the police officers actions, the police officer did what he did from Natural Instincts only because of how Society has been treating law enforcement.
@@hurtfultruth3903 most officers wouldn’t “instinctually” pull a gun out on someone buying a sleeve of mentos.
What a hero. Seventy nine cent candy stolen from a convenience store? Not on his watch!
T H You are Fake News. The clerk Cleary stated it was $1.19.
T H You're missing the point. He pulled a gun on the man.
Earth To Charlie that's a perfect name for you. You need to take Sarcasm 101. Lol.
Earth To Charlie you're missing the point it was a damn joke.
T H I'd steal your heart in a heartbeat
The actions of this cop reflects his entire police department if he isn't fired for pulling out his gun over some damn candy that was purchased and even if the candy was stolen; drawing a weapon over something minor such as the theft of a pack of candy is disturbing, reckless and equivalent to outlaw thuggish behavior.
a cop who has NO business being a cop
That cop is a damn menace to everyone he crosses paths with and should absolutely not have a badge. That customer is WAY too kind. Training will never fix that kind of a power trip.
TOO kind
Exactly - he has been trained when to pull his firearm, in a classroom role play he would say that is not the time to draw his weapon, he didn't even intend to arrest for shoplifting - cop just wanted to publicly stroke his gun on a power trip.
I wonder how long he has been carrying, looking for a reason to pull that gun on somebody
Inadvertently admitting bad cops are isolated incidents which is true. Dude definitely should be fired
@@theflyingegg3557 Most wouldn't describe a _person_ as an _incident._ If the majority of law enforcement would uphold the blue shield, showing favoritism to another officer or his family/friends based on their connection to the police department, or lie on a report to cover up the inappropriate behavior of themselves or another officer, then most officers are corrupt, not "isolated incidents."
Cop: Did he pay?
Clerk: Yes he did.
Cop: ARE YOU SURE?
Wtf is wrong with people.
Cop just shop.himself.in the foot.lol 😂😂😂😂😂😂 asking that question
That cop couldn't handle he was wrong.
Cop: my apologies (as he motions to make sure the guy had the item)
Marco Quinones
No, wtf is wrong with you? Shouldn't be "wtf is wrong with this cop"? You putting on "people" wouldn't who weren't there.
