Either way, fun support build that can facetank bosses if needed too. Give it a try and have fun!
"You can remove 17 conditions in 15 seconds." So that's why every time I use Blood is power and want to transfer my condition to the boss it goes away immediately instead... Also, I love the "Rat" on the screen at 4:17, really plays into the Asura fantasy!
FYI: the outgoing healing% doesn't affect barrier. Monk still probably the best rune to pick (until relic system?!?!?!?), maybe rune of rebirth. If the food is expensive, you can grow stuff in you home that you can use to make 2 hour primers for like 10 silver each. It only needs a garden plot (chef 500/gemstore) and dedicated gardener achivement.
I don´t know if Scourge performed better or worse before, but I now played this build and it´s a lot of Fun. I do the damage of a wet pool noodle but I have the feeling of being great support for my group. The lack of meaningful bursthealing is a bit sad, but in the long run it doesn´t seem to matter. Thank you Noxxi for this build. Made me fall in Love with Necro again
I have something similar, but instead I focus on dealing some damage while pumping thicc barriers onto my friends, while also running Blood Magic to bring people back from the dead doing my best necromancer roleplay. I run full Seraph which crit caps me when the enemy has at least three conditions, making Curses more useful by giving more condition damage and proccing Barbed Precision more often. Another option is Plaguedoctor's which gives you Vitality which increases your total life force pool. Curses has the basic Plague Sending, Master of Corruption and Lingering Curse. I run scepter/torch but I do not run staff since I'm not the main healer, I'll let the main healer give his Regeneration that is superior anyways. Instead I have an off-hand warhorn for CC. Then Blood Magic, but with Vampiric Presence just for the damage as I'm not really looking to heal, just pump barrier. I'm not sure if the extra healing from Life from Death applies to barrier. In Scourge I run Fell Beacon instead just for the damage. I run Nightmare runes for the condi duration, as well as Sigil of Malice and of course Bursting. One option is to run Sigil of Torment over Malice, but not sure if that does more DPS. With Meaty Asparagus Skewer thrown in there, the overall condi duration is 52.53%, bringing Bleeding to 72.53% and Torment to 67.53%. For utility slots I run Sand Flare for barrier, Blood is Power for damage, and Signet of Undeath for life force and long range revive if needed. Plaguelands as elite. Third slot is free. The main issue with this is that I really only have one free utility slot since I always want Blood is Power, and Signet of Undeath because the life force generation is lacking. So if I really don't need the aegis I can run Desiccate to give permanent Fury as well as some decent Might. I tried this in Boneskinner and was doing 10k dps, which is low but I kept everyone healthy and pulled and revived downstates, while still doing three times more damage than standard off-healer Scourge. Since someone is inevitably going to think this: No, this is not meant as a "do this instead", I'm just sharing a build I came up with that isn't just fully min-maxed for damage. Also sorry for the wall of text it's fun to theorycraft builds.

Thank you for explaining how things used to be versus today. I used to love the plague doctor scourge for meta events and have been looking for a replacement. It seems like there's nothing that quite replaces it one to one, but maybe going full support is the way.
I was working on some achievements and bought the cheap elonian armor you can buy at the TP that comes with rune of rebirth on my tempest and tried going for a healer build in PvE. It's super fun to be in random events doing map stuff and keeping a bunch of people alive, and rune of rebirth takes a lot of pressure out of the big attacks from world bosses in those fights that you cannot see a thing, giving you more shoulder room to run around. I have been playing it at the queen's pavillion boss blitz and it is fun. I put the heavy set on my warrior to go to WvW from time to time. I can help with those pesky conditions, but I could learn to use the skills better.
after the Daring Dragon change to give alac, i've been playing Weaboon again and having a blast. while the tactical reload changes still hurt, lush forest keeps the build working and you still get to provide boons for a frankly ludicrous period of time. this game has so much depth, we shouldn't just limit ourselves to the top of the meta. fun is a viable statistic
I've been using this build in both fractals and strikes and it basically makes the group invincible with all the barrier. Like you said movement really is the weakness of this build but i think I'm still getting used to having proper shade placement so maybe that will get better with time.
Honestly, I don't think it really works as a tank build because your boon share radius is so low, you have to be right on the stack. You don't want your tank in the middle of the stack. It does, however, do quite well as a non-tank support.

I think sigil of water is a good pick beside transference and concentration. Scourge didn't really have reliable source of healing and the sigil would help although not so much. And I think using plaguedoctor might be better since it offers 2% more boon duration compared to harrier plus it has vitality for your life force and condi dmg.

There's 2 methods of successful play.... Sweaty meta min max.... And fuck it, it works, have fun. Always love to see builds in the 2nd category. Overthrow the meta!
You will need to run magi or harrier gear in raids/fracs (maybe even strikes) unless your group is ok with u tanking. Trying to kill anything in open world will take a long time (even compared to other supports) as it has minimum dps. Also, as noxxi said, it doesn't have the burst heal that druid or tempest do so you're really relying on barrier to mitigate damage. The problem with that is that barrier is capped at 50% of the targets' hp.
I'M LOVING heal scourge so much! I'm teaching my gf fractals since she is a fresh 80 ranger. I always create a pug with her and slap "nrebie friendly" cause i can carry really hard ppl through all the T1 fracs, except Silent Surf which is not a newb friendly one... Even experienced groups have trouble (i think it needs tu be tuned down a bit).
Ah T1 silent surf is ez pz, just stack on each other for everything tbh, if everyone has one stunbreak just keep it for the eye mechanic, you can literally just permanently stand in one spot. When he does the spin just slap down a shade on you all, and spam F3 and F5 with serpent syphon in the middle and if you need just smack that transfusion to heal. In T1 he doesn't even go through my barriers. Tbf it's probably the only t1 fractal where you kinda need a healer, the rest of them can be just full dps and ram them through xD ofc it's different with newbies, but generally for t1 t2 I swap to dps. Normal mode Silent Surf is extremely chill now to me, there is nothing that can kill you or insta-kill. Actually just yesterday we did fracs and since it was T3 rec we still tried to stack in one for the spin attacks and the barrier spam still works there too, was surprised it was possible since he does mora damage in T3 compared to T1 only mechanic that can kill even in T1 is if the people stand in the spinning axes, but nothing else, cuz those fast stack bleed and torment. I've been running frac CMs almost daily since I put together the build and love healing with it. Will do an updated version soon on it too, since I had more experience with it now.

The Good Old Well of Blood and F4 still works a bit when the party wipes on Harvest Temple Orb hitting the wall wave, rezzed myself and four other people, then rest of group.
I used to precast the old transfusion and well of blood on myself a few pixels before that as well in the past when I did HT with pugs and it get out of control and touched the edges. Those days it took me 2 seconds to get myself and everyone up lmao. But honestly, apart from the res spam, not much I was able to do.
I think scourge was always fun and not meta. The main issue is anet trying to force us to spam barrier to generate alac instead of thinking about the correct time to use barrier. Also, nerfing shade uptime is annoying AF because we have to think about keeping an least one shade up off CD instead of thinking about good positioning of our 3 shades.
With this build, just placing a shade and using Sandstorm Shroud every 12 seconds will apply perma alacrity and protection, which leaves your other barrier sources free to use when needed (including placing a new shade).
People who would bully because of this build genuinely lack brain cells to understand the build fully. I have been in strikes where I single-handedly kept barrier up on 9 people and due to that most people are kept full health while my outgoing healing leaks over to those who are injured whether they are not in my sub group. The people who may bully you for this are basically people who cannot use their brain until they go to snowcrows or similar site and see the build there being called meta. It's the general horseshit ideals in the entire community.
I've been doing something similar since the patch dropped (using Dagger though) but because the healing/barrier seemed to be overkill, I said screw it and went full Celestial instead. Not only am I giving a ton of healing, barriers, and alacrity but I'm also outdamaging the average player you encounter at 2 AM on the LFG tool looking for a Fast 5 clear.

Nyeh, unfortunately a lot of things got out of date that I previously worked on about it so eventually after really not feeling like it I scrapped it. More than half of the project I previously made a bit before EoD got pretty much butchered due to changes and then later balance changes, so it was a better idea to scrap it in the end.
Staff #2 pops regen on allies in its aoe when its triggered by any enemy. #5 is an aoe fear for cc. I just spam the marks and that it when shades are on cd
My current build has Magi's.. which is great, but no concentration. Because now, alac is a thing. What about Plague Doctor's or Minstrel's? Damn. Going to need to spend some gold now to swap. I use Mercy runes, too. If I don't use Staff, I should swap the first trait in Soul Reaping to something else? Or should I just spank myself and use staff like I'm told?
I really want to try this build cause this looks like so much fun, but I have decision paralysis on how I want to build it cause i dont have leggy armor. Do I got harriers so i can try any content without worrying about toughness tanking, or do i just go the givers and swap out to another healer in those cases (i'm new to raiding so i don't know how to tank most bosses)
Well the tanking can be solved if someone else who can tank can get more toughness than you. Actually good example I had literally last night I was raiding with Mukluk on his stream and I was in full givers + minstrel weapons so I had to ask him to go actually full givers for bosses because I didn't know the movement strats for the bosses. I raided like a year ago and never tanked, mostly just played DPS. Just this alone means I will always have less toughness than a full givers set person who can tank then. Harrier is safe to go with too as long you can avoid damage better and not just facetank it. Giver's won't magically save you either from death, but yes it does make you take like 55% less damage with the minstrel weapons combined. But it also won't save you from one-shot mechanics. Harrier is there to be safe IF you know what you are doing in terms of mechanics of the boss. To add to that I actually tanked a few easy bosses in W5 that are very easy to tank strat-wise. Harrier is fine, you will see and understand boss mechanics on the go anyway in a few attempts. W1 to W4 bosses are quite easy to understand/learn.
All of my builds are absolutely focused on FUN and I'm happy with that, apart from the fact that I almost never play any fractals, raids or strikes because I'm afraid my FUN builds don't fit there. x)
This fits in fractals just fine. You dont need tanking there. This will only be an issue in certain strikes and raids but if youre taking the tankhealer role anyway then all the better.

As of July 18th patch i have retired my scourge. I would rather learn alac on a new class (i already had heal/alac tempest which is just better than hscg anyway) than let anet think that what they did to scourge was acceptable. Nobody asks for barrier in any content- if barrier was worth it, it would be all over Snowcrows, Discretise and Metabattle. If anet removed the barrier cap or made it last longer though...
Barrier is actually a very strong mechanic, which is why they initially tried to nerf barrier on scourge in the june 27 patch. You can stack 6 dps scourge together even now and the entire group won't take a single damage due to barrier spam. Scourge is doing better than ever right now. Strong support and even stronger dps than it was pushing their old benchmark from 35-36k to 41. Of course nobody asks for barrier since it is given by scourge anyway. If anet removed barrier cap the entire game would be broken because of scourge, it already is.

I disagree that dps scourges spam barrier however- you won't see that on any meta build and no lfg asks for scourge or barrier (at least not as long as hfb can throw out aegis so easily). Also, scourge only exists on SC as a legacy build; not sure how its' dps has jumped 6k unless you're only looking at burst phases in fractals.
@@reson8 Noxxi is correct. Scourge DPS got buffed to 41K DPS in the recent july patch. And stacking Scourge is effective as well. The more Scourges you stack, the more group barrier you will have. Snowcrows has it under "legacy" because Snowcrows hasn't updated their builds for the july update yet. In the june update Scourge got nerfed quite hard and deserved the "legacy" tag. The reason you don't see barrier valued highly in high level play like Snowcrows is because needing healing or barrier is a skill issue. Most damage is avoidable if you play perfectly. Hardstuck however is more realistic about things and does value barrier more, though they haven't caught up as of now to the july patch either.
don't let the try hards know you play for fun, that might be triggering to them xD i've been wanting to try heal scourge for quite a while now, but I got bummed out with the last patch nerfs, but I think I'll give your build a try (just need people to do content with, cause I think it makes much sense to use it in open world or wvw)

Allso good option to make plaguedoctor/marshal stats with scepter/torch & staff - you will never run out of life force (even if you will just spam shades like a maniac), have great sustain and almost the same boon uptime (only protection will struggle 1 sec uptime before you can renew it) And such build will offer more condition dps income into total group dps, without loosing much healing/support. Runes of the monk and both weapon sets equipped transference/concentration sigils.
It doesn't offer healing power, and has less concentration. Unless you are some weird dps scourge with alac it won't work and won't bring out that much damage either. You either go full supp like this or just go normal condi scourge for max dps. If you try to mix it you end up becoming a shit support and a shit and useless dps just for a very few thousand extra dps nobody cares about.
@@NoxxiTheNoxxian in big groups I would agree with you however 5 man content is a different ball game and hundred dps is sometimes the difference between clear and wipe. I am not a fan of healing power cuz Anet refuses to fix the scaling of skills so even heavy investments don't give you as much as % healing bonuses from runes/sigils/traits. Also as you mentioned toughness is a stat it should be avoided in pve so that's my reasoning behind ritualist

Believe me, the build been chewed out by people who believe whatever SnowCrows puts out as build is THE and ONLY build people can play and viable they way THEY put the build as is. Without understand that SC builds are for basically speed-runs and static groups who perform well together. Most of the community is like this unfortunately, so I'm giving a huge emphasis on this being "my" build the way I do it and play it. Albeit I have literally cleared 100 CM Kanaxai with this build piss easy chill mode on stream two days ago, without any issue, apart from me lagging like hell... (quick edit to add, been clearing 100 CM easy mode since, daily too on first tries.) Some people think whatever SC puts out is set in stone and is the ONLY build one can pick otherwise it's dogshit. That's the reality we are in.

I'M LOVING heal scourge so much! I'm teaching my gf fractals since she is a fresh 80 ranger. I always create a pug with her and slap "nrebie friendly" cause i can carry really hard ppl through all the T1 fracs, except Silent Surf which is not a newb friendly one... Even experienced groups have trouble (i think it needs tu be tuned down a bit).
Ah T1 silent surf is ez pz, just stack on each other for everything tbh, if everyone has one stunbreak just keep it for the eye mechanic, you can literally just permanently stand in one spot. When he does the spin just slap down a shade on you all, and spam F3 and F5 with serpent syphon in the middle and if you need just smack that transfusion to heal. In T1 he doesn't even go through my barriers. Tbf it's probably the only t1 fractal where you kinda need a healer, the rest of them can be just full dps and ram them through xD ofc it's different with newbies, but generally for t1 t2 I swap to dps. Normal mode Silent Surf is extremely chill now to me, there is nothing that can kill you or insta-kill. Actually just yesterday we did fracs and since it was T3 rec we still tried to stack in one for the spin attacks and the barrier spam still works there too, was surprised it was possible since he does mora damage in T3 compared to T1 only mechanic that can kill even in T1 is if the people stand in the spinning axes, but nothing else, cuz those fast stack bleed and torment. I've been running frac CMs almost daily since I put together the build and love healing with it. Will do an updated version soon on it too, since I had more experience with it now.

But i still believe this is not fair, what if you don't heave scourge and pugs aren't coordinated... But i'll look forward for the next vid :)

The Good Old Well of Blood and F4 still works a bit when the party wipes on Harvest Temple Orb hitting the wall wave, rezzed myself and four other people, then rest of group.
I used to precast the old transfusion and well of blood on myself a few pixels before that as well in the past when I did HT with pugs and it get out of control and touched the edges. Those days it took me 2 seconds to get myself and everyone up lmao. But honestly, apart from the res spam, not much I was able to do.
I think scourge was always fun and not meta. The main issue is anet trying to force us to spam barrier to generate alac instead of thinking about the correct time to use barrier. Also, nerfing shade uptime is annoying AF because we have to think about keeping an least one shade up off CD instead of thinking about good positioning of our 3 shades.
With this build, just placing a shade and using Sandstorm Shroud every 12 seconds will apply perma alacrity and protection, which leaves your other barrier sources free to use when needed (including placing a new shade).

People who would bully because of this build genuinely lack brain cells to understand the build fully. I have been in strikes where I single-handedly kept barrier up on 9 people and due to that most people are kept full health while my outgoing healing leaks over to those who are injured whether they are not in my sub group. The people who may bully you for this are basically people who cannot use their brain until they go to snowcrows or similar site and see the build there being called meta. It's the general horseshit ideals in the entire community.

I've been doing something similar since the patch dropped (using Dagger though) but because the healing/barrier seemed to be overkill, I said screw it and went full Celestial instead. Not only am I giving a ton of healing, barriers, and alacrity but I'm also outdamaging the average player you encounter at 2 AM on the LFG tool looking for a Fast 5 clear.

Nyeh, unfortunately a lot of things got out of date that I previously worked on about it so eventually after really not feeling like it I scrapped it. More than half of the project I previously made a bit before EoD got pretty much butchered due to changes and then later balance changes, so it was a better idea to scrap it in the end.
Sorry is there more detailed explanation about staff skills? Maybe rotation or when to use them I’m new to scourge but this guide looks fun
Staff #2 pops regen on allies in its aoe when its triggered by any enemy. #5 is an aoe fear for cc. I just spam the marks and that it when shades are on cd

My current build has Magi's.. which is great, but no concentration. Because now, alac is a thing. What about Plague Doctor's or Minstrel's? Damn. Going to need to spend some gold now to swap. I use Mercy runes, too.
If I don't use Staff, I should swap the first trait in Soul Reaping to something else? Or should I just spank myself and use staff like I'm told?
you can go with whatever weapons really, up to taste, staff just helps with regen spam
I really want to try this build cause this looks like so much fun, but I have decision paralysis on how I want to build it cause i dont have leggy armor. Do I got harriers so i can try any content without worrying about toughness tanking, or do i just go the givers and swap out to another healer in those cases (i'm new to raiding so i don't know how to tank most bosses)
Well the tanking can be solved if someone else who can tank can get more toughness than you. Actually good example I had literally last night I was raiding with Mukluk on his stream and I was in full givers + minstrel weapons so I had to ask him to go actually full givers for bosses because I didn't know the movement strats for the bosses. I raided like a year ago and never tanked, mostly just played DPS. Just this alone means I will always have less toughness than a full givers set person who can tank then. Harrier is safe to go with too as long you can avoid damage better and not just facetank it. Giver's won't magically save you either from death, but yes it does make you take like 55% less damage with the minstrel weapons combined. But it also won't save you from one-shot mechanics. Harrier is there to be safe IF you know what you are doing in terms of mechanics of the boss. To add to that I actually tanked a few easy bosses in W5 that are very easy to tank strat-wise. Harrier is fine, you will see and understand boss mechanics on the go anyway in a few attempts. W1 to W4 bosses are quite easy to understand/learn.

All of my builds are absolutely focused on FUN and I'm happy with that, apart from the fact that I almost never play any fractals, raids or strikes because I'm afraid my FUN builds don't fit there. x)
This fits in fractals just fine. You dont need tanking there. This will only be an issue in certain strikes and raids but if youre taking the tankhealer role anyway then all the better.
@@corrinlex1359 Yeah, but I was talking about my own builds, not the one in the video. x) But my builds can proabaly also work in fractals like you said, and several of them maybe even work fine enough for strikes. Guess I have other problems with playing that stuff.
As of July 18th patch i have retired my scourge. I would rather learn alac on a new class (i already had heal/alac tempest which is just better than hscg anyway) than let anet think that what they did to scourge was acceptable. Nobody asks for barrier in any content- if barrier was worth it, it would be all over Snowcrows, Discretise and Metabattle. If anet removed the barrier cap or made it last longer though...
Barrier is actually a very strong mechanic, which is why they initially tried to nerf barrier on scourge in the june 27 patch. You can stack 6 dps scourge together even now and the entire group won't take a single damage due to barrier spam. Scourge is doing better than ever right now. Strong support and even stronger dps than it was pushing their old benchmark from 35-36k to 41. Of course nobody asks for barrier since it is given by scourge anyway. If anet removed barrier cap the entire game would be broken because of scourge, it already is.
@@NoxxiTheNoxxian I agree, barrier is a very strong mechanic- that's why it has limitations. I disagree that dps scourges spam barrier however- you won't see that on any meta build and no lfg asks for scourge or barrier (at least not as long as hfb can throw out aegis so easily). Also, scourge only exists on SC as a legacy build; not sure how its' dps has jumped 6k unless you're only looking at burst phases in fractals.
@@reson8 Noxxi is correct. Scourge DPS got buffed to 41K DPS in the recent july patch.
And stacking Scourge is effective as well. The more Scourges you stack, the more group barrier you will have. Snowcrows has it under "legacy" because Snowcrows hasn't updated their builds for the july update yet. In the june update Scourge got nerfed quite hard and deserved the "legacy" tag.
The reason you don't see barrier valued highly in high level play like Snowcrows is because needing healing or barrier is a skill issue. Most damage is avoidable if you play perfectly. Hardstuck however is more realistic about things and does value barrier more, though they haven't caught up as of now to the july patch either.

Erh, I dunno this focuses on boons and healing and barrier, Magi's only gives HPW and no concentration, so you will really struggle with alac upkeep

At best on world bosses, kinda fun healing people and revive so many downed ppl
Allso good option to make plaguedoctor/marshal stats with scepter/torch & staff - you will never run out of life force (even if you will just spam shades like a maniac), have great sustain and almost the same boon uptime (only protection will struggle 1 sec uptime before you can renew it) And such build will offer more condition dps income into total group dps, without loosing much healing/support. Runes of the monk and both weapon sets equipped transference/concentration sigils.

It doesn't offer healing power, and has less concentration. Unless you are some weird dps scourge with alac it won't work and won't bring out that much damage either. You either go full supp like this or just go normal condi scourge for max dps. If you try to mix it you end up becoming a shit support and a shit and useless dps just for a very few thousand extra dps nobody cares about.
@@NoxxiTheNoxxian in big groups I would agree with you however 5 man content is a different ball game and hundred dps is sometimes the difference between clear and wipe. I am not a fan of healing power cuz Anet refuses to fix the scaling of skills so even heavy investments don't give you as much as % healing bonuses from runes/sigils/traits. Also as you mentioned toughness is a stat it should be avoided in pve so that's my reasoning behind ritualist

You speak like this is some off-meta troll build, wtf. It's a perfectly viable pick that can clear all content. I don't get this constant "It's only fun, it;'s not the best" talk, You're really putting yourself and heal scourge down for no reason.
Believe me, the build been chewed out by people who believe whatever SnowCrows puts out as build is THE and ONLY build people can play and viable they way THEY put the build as is. Without understand that SC builds are for basically speed-runs and static groups who perform well together. Most of the community is like this unfortunately, so I'm giving a huge emphasis on this being "my" build the way I do it and play it. Albeit I have literally cleared 100 CM Kanaxai with this build piss easy chill mode on stream two days ago, without any issue, apart from me lagging like hell... (quick edit to add, been clearing 100 CM easy mode since, daily too on first tries.) Some people think whatever SC puts out is set in stone and is the ONLY build one can pick otherwise it's dogshit. That's the reality we are in.
