"Lack of Soul" ... "no emotion" .... blah, blah I say. I think she is very respectful to HOW THE PIECE IS WRITTEN... because she doesn't take excessive liberties with pieces should not reflect poorly on her. I personally think the pianists that butcher composers pieces are being disrespectful. One of the reasons I think her Mendelssohn is tops. She accurate to how the piece is written. ... and of course performs flawlessly. She's a breath of fresh air in my view.
🤔 Hmm, I don't know about that. She is _of course_ very amazing for sure, don't get me wrong - but personally I think she's a bit overrated. As a testimonial reference to this, listen to *Kristina Miller's* and *Juhee Lim's* 🎹performances👐🏼 of this particular 🎼piece. They rival and (perhaps, in my opinion) even surpass *Yuja Wang's* rendition(s).
Ms. Wang is a prodigious pianist. She performs this piece with superb technique and conviction considering is very difficult to perform because its tempo is like Presto Agitato.
The way she punishes her kid: Yuja : "Why did you do that? Stand there an count how many notes I can play in a second!" Kid : "Mom!!! Can I go and drown myself in poop? That's much easier." :(
Very great performance as usual. Just recently purchased one of her cd's at borders. Loving the cd just put it into ps3. listening to it until I found this video :). Yuja FTW I always say.
Cziffra's rendition is on utube. This sensational young pianist plays it even faster and accurate than him and with more power. INCREDIBLE! And she plays this often as an encore after a fiendishly difficult piano concerto such as the Prokofiev 2.
Vette gaddia what are you talking about??? ....yes she is very impressive but please ! do not even mention together with Cziffra. Come on,! pathetic.! Nobody is even close to Cziffra in this kind of music, specially in his improvisations. In Hungary in the 50's He was playing like this in a pub dead drunk, and improvised in this kind of style, all kind of music for request. One more : improvised like this for request. One after the other pieces, Strauss, Wagner, Vivaldi, Khachaturian, Strawinsky ect... doesn't matter what, he was playing, right there in that moment when he got the request. (before He opened the third bottle of cognac) So please give a little more respect to Mr George Cziffra and don't put him down even to compare him with this little hard worker girl. Do not mention together a temporary favourite great pianist with an All Time Genius !
FIOKOM GUGOL Yuja's genius is witness live by hundred of thousands of her fans. Cziffra's reputation are mostly speculative since relatively few experts really heard him play live. Sadly, his career had many lost years due to his sad life and political problems. What we hear from Cziffra are very few live recordings with an actual audience. So we really only get to hear the very few performances of this legendary pianist when he is playing his best. I have only heard one live performance of Cziffra with an audience. And he was no where near the caliber he demonstrated in those no audience radio recordings. Almost all of Yuja's performances on Ytube are in front of an audience. And her venture into the Concerto repertoire dwarfs Cziffra's by many folds. I most definitely admire Cziffra. But I find Yuja superior in technique and consistency. And that's why she is among the most successful pianists of the 21st Century, with fans that includes Argerich, Abbado, and Kissin.
so ok. I was already set to trash her "tritsh tratsch version. as NOBODY can play it like Cziffra. but i was WAS WRONG. this gal is genius.and WONDERFUL a total class act..bravo and brilliant. whoopee for her. spectacular performance.......
Actually, Mz. Wang plays this delightful piece precisely, but as importantly, with wit, breathtaking dynamics from flawless fortissimo to feathery flights -- I think Georges Cziffra might agree, better than the composer's own rendition, also found here on You Tube.
this lady is going to give valentina lisitsa a "run for the money"...or the other way around?!!!!!!!! this outrageous difficult piece/performance is simply electrifying!!! i've seen lisitsa's rachmaninov intepretation of etude op.39 no.6 , but i think this performance outclass it cause of it's outlandish demands for technique, it just comes out on top cause of it's insane presto tempo, leaps, octaves, fingerdexterity-strenght, coordination/accuracy, timing, the list goes on....
Cziffra has been mortally bitten by the fluminant spider-looking fingers of Yuja. =) Cziffra's hands resembled agressive beach crabs, especially in his famous improvisation video. Away from the stupid thoughts, this brilliant technique must not be criticized; but the dynamics and intonation should. However, the overall driving mad impression from this play leave me no choice but give 5/5.
@AllegroDemolish Her hands made out of will-power, discipline, practice, a monstrous technique, utmost musicality and the direction of nothing but the top. Also an angelic touch (see her Brahms-Paganini Variations ) She is just simply amazing and my new favorite since Cziffra and Argerich.
With performances like this (and I see that a video of her 'Flight of the Bumble-Bee' has had nearly 500k hits) she is, as they say, 'the complete package'.
@hjiuhfhrehui Don't worry she will, she has no limits. I believe she will eventually make her own transcriptions, but three is so much repertoire she can still digest and perform, barely in her 20-s. She is a blessing for all of us music lovers. Bravissimo Yuja! If anyone would love to see her play Brahms-Paganini Variations, go to MySpace by Misha. Unbelievable technique and musicality. Her angelic face and stature surely attracts some men to comment things, but we hope Yuja doesn't mind it.
I think that apart from technical perfection and passion, one has preferences towards the character of the pianist. My mother, for instance, loves Brendel, and I find Maria Joa Pires amazing as well. But Yuja is not only amazing, she's such a rock star! I don't think this aspect should be underestimated in the atmosphere and impression she makes when playing. And I'm not shallow and care more about the music, but she IS hot. I wish I could design clothes for her. But am happy with listening, too
She is in TOTAL control. Looks like she could play it at twice the speed at home. I don't like virtuoso pieces like this one, but thank God they exist!
I guess in the end it can be very difficult to understand these kind of pieces for non-europeans which have these typical austrian, polish, hungarian whatever temperament. This version sounds like a grandiose concert piece on a grand, playing is perfect, but in Cziffras version i can hear Strauss and through that imagine the chit-chat of the Vienna court. On steroids of course :)
I wonder why she skips a page (@2:36 or abouts). It's obviously not because she can't play it; this is the only version on RUclips with video proof it can be played!
You notice there is no advertisement banner that comes up? That is a typical Yuja Wang performance. She is able to beat the annoying content id software. She already mentioned that she plays differently each time.
@StAmalthea yes i do agree, this is at the other end of the piano spectre,,val lisitsa choose to play chopin, rachm, beethoven, liszt, more poetic dramatic and emotional demanding literature wang plays this circus piece, it's excessive in any way, perhaps that's the meaning of it!
Although the sound quality is bad, she plays this brilliantly!
Well done Yuja!
Wonder if she played sabre dance
HOLY CRAP, CAN'T BELIEVE I JUST SAW THAT, THIS GIRL REALLY BRINGS IT !!!
I can play 50% of this piece when i was 11
Or 10%
"Lack of Soul" ... "no emotion" .... blah, blah I say. I personally think the pianists that butcher composers pieces are being disrespectful. One of the reasons I think her Mendelssohn is tops. I agree completely--well said, Dale.
Also I think this was arranged as a "show piece"
Ms. Wang is a prodigious pianist. She performs this piece with superb technique and conviction considering is very difficult to perform because its tempo is like Presto Agitato.
Absolutly incredible performance: the super fast jumps by left hand at the end of the piece are just amazing!
Cziffra aurait été heureux d'entendre cette interprétation.
Bravo et Merci Mademoiselle.
I saw some amazing videos of her playing at ten yrs old, truly jaw dropping amazing.
You know, she can do everything Volodos can do, and with a lot more wit, lightness and joy.
wow i love her and the pieces she plays..so impressive
Yujia Wang, é a minha pianista preferida atualmente! É incrível a potência, o virtuosismo, a sensibilidade! Como Deus é maravilhoso! Bravo YUJIA!
I'm so lucky to see this piece played by her live in Brussels tonight. She's just gorgeous and amazing!!!!
2:52 OMG, her left hand.......
she's coming to singapore this 23th june and i got tickets to hear her play. this is truly magnificant!
The best piano artist in the world!!!! Magnifiicent!!!
The way she punishes her kid:
Yuja : "Why did you do that? Stand there an count how many notes I can play in a second!"
Kid : "Mom!!! Can I go and drown myself in poop? That's much easier." :(
Lol, this is so funny! 😂
Such a forced joke it made me cringe
she is asian
Wow,it's absolute amazing!!!
Very great performance as usual.
Just recently purchased one of her cd's at borders.
Loving the cd just put it into ps3. listening to it until I found this video :).
Yuja FTW I always say.

Yuja is the present and the future of the female international pianism. No doubt about her since she started to perform in public. Really fantastic.
she has the fastest finger !!!
#1 solid fan of yuja wang ...
Perfecto!!!!!!

Is there anything this woman canNOT play? Good GOD!!!
absolutely incredible effortless virtuousity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Actually, Mz. Wang plays this delightful piece precisely, but as importantly, with wit, breathtaking dynamics from flawless fortissimo to feathery flights -- I think Georges Cziffra might agree, better than the composer's own rendition, also found here on You Tube.
Umberto Tosi It's not true!
simplesmente demais
. perfeito
Just wonderful...and with such grace.
this lady is going to give valentina lisitsa a "run for the money"...or the other way around?!!!!!!!!

Yuja, I wish Cziffra would see and hear you now ! But I am sure he is smiling at you from Heaven !
WOW ... I am fascinated thanks Yuja - Brava
SHE OWNS THE PIANO!!

Nice playing! I liked it! it's the best!
Cziffra set the bar so high it's a wonder anyone else can play his stuff.
look at her head at 2:40 (when zooming out) she's on FastFForward :))
PERFECT for me.
@Carrigain That was Heifetz, not Cherkassky, who was notably, not a very fast player,( i heard him dozens of times!)
Pushing human abilities envelop to the extreme.
Amazing technique!
@hjiuhfhrehui Don't worry she will, she has no limits. I believe she will eventually make her own transcriptions, but three is so much repertoire she can still digest and perform, barely in her 20-s. She took out that little cadenza near the end... but I still really liked the performance. Utmost virtuosity here...
Exquisitely.
She is in TOTAL control. Looks like she could play it at twice the speed at home. I don't like virtuoso pieces like this one, but thank God they exist!
OMG she plays like she's killing the piano
Cziffra would've been proud of her.
she loves her cziffra
Ti amo!
@MrFortepianist The second (and IMO the mos popular) one.
High Carumba!!!! Just shows what a lunatic Cziffra was with a piano. Maybe it's me but I swear she missed a couple of bars near the end....?
@llky23 Wow - worldwide Pianist of the moment I would say! Enjoy.
Her technique!! OMG x.x
Bravissimo!!!
@thebaluarte Not that thin according to asian standard. Think she looks better now with short hair. Love her! :)
I wonder why she skips a page (@2:36 or abouts). It's obviously not because she can't play it; this is the only version on RUclips with video proof it can be played!
Where does she get all that power and dexterity from such a thin body and small hands?
i always love her fingers
You notice there is no advertisement banner that comes up? That is a typical Yuja Wang performance. She is able to beat the annoying content id software. She already mentioned that she plays differently each time.
@shaylenmusic "Sergei" wasn't available.
O.o fazer exercícios de técnica mecânica do piano até cair as mãos pra tocar isso. huahuahua Parabéns.
@StAmalthea yes i do agree, this is at the other end of the piano spectre,,val lisitsa choose to play chopin, rachm, beethoven, liszt, more poetic dramatic and emotional demanding literature
wang plays this circus piece, it's excessive in any way, perhaps that's the meaning of it!
from 2:53 on... the thought process -- "Oh, I guess i'll just detach my wrists in order to play this"
@IlCOLElI there's no doubt about that she played... i mean i can't believe that human CAN play like that. (I think Cziffra is not a human -_-;;)
Camera man needs to join AA.
OMG !!!!
I
Holy Fuck! I had to change my pants...twice...
for some reason, reminds me of Stephen Hough playing Liszt =)
incredible playing.
holy cow.....
Lol are they hands?
nice
