I've been waiting for more people who like the pilot figures, you're the second so far:) I wonder why they didn't just clone one of the two they already made and put it in this kit...
Having the pilot figure is a rather important feature I feel to leave out, if you have the mechs standing together on a shelf they look like "toys" with no real sense of scale or weight. When you have a pilot figure (or something like a model building like I do) to place next to them you have a real world object to balance them to, you immediately get a sense of high big these machines are. Once I built my Crossbone RG, even though it's the smallest mobile suit in the line, once you simple place the pilot at it's feet your brain fills in the scale and you can imagine it in your minds eye.
I really enjoy your reviews. They're thorough, well thought out, with no bias. You make your opinions known, but still remain objective. You also cover aspects of kits that others tend to miss or ignore. 👏 Good stuff!

I hope your channel grows even more keep up the good work! also, i do like the pilot figures that come in gundam model kits. When i look at them, i like to imagine myself if i was that person next to a gundam lol
Hey, I was waiting to see if anyone would answer that call for people who like the pilot figures! The detail on them are actually pretty crazy, like you can tell Char from a Zeon pilot. They taunt me though, and they know I can't paint them... And yeah, I wonder why the cockpit mechanism was removed. It's even quite straight-forward for this design
@@HobbyClubhouse It removes the "real" in real grade if there is no cockpit. As for the pilots, one day Ill be able to paint it properly those tiny devils
I really appreciate your speculation about the design process. I've worked in the corporate world long enough that your theories make total sense to me. The deviations from previous RGs sound like cost-cutting to me, unless this kit was rushed to market.
I've also seen my share of higher-ups who got too cute with their pet ideas and projects. I bet a lot of people tried quite hard to keep it from being the worst it could be
Man, i love how much detail and effort you put in your reviews. You deserve a lot more subs/views. But i wonder one thing. Why dont you use the stickers on your reviews? Like eye stickers and such
Pilot minifigs and cockpit hatch gimmicks are a MAIN SELLING POINT on my checklist for an RG, i love that the pilot fig helps to feel the scale of the machine in comparison with "a person", it would've been fun to have a Heero doing that one pose of the Opening. PD: I've already seen a couple of reviews from you, I liked the really fleshed out demonstration of feats like the manual, comparisons, inner frame details, and even who made the box art! so yeah, I'm subscribing here, keep up the good works!
Welcome to the channel! Working hard on the channel as we speak:) The lack of an opening cockpit and the green-shirt Heero is an extra shame because I would have did that scene where he blew up the Wing Gundam standing out on the opened hatch. I think one of the figures for the Wing Gundam Zero kits have Heero doing that exact pose you mentioned with his palm across his face like the opening.
@@HobbyClubhouse omg i never thought about that scene recreation, good catch! I just checked out and indeed, the Wing Gundam EW has that Hero minifig, that just leaves us the lack of the cockpit hatch Wich i do find odd, the Inner frame really looks like it had the space to house the cockpit cavity, it instead has peg probably to hold onto the blue piece in front, but still I found there were ways to handle it better
it's interesting how the mobile suit height remains the same, and the 1/144 remains the same - and yet the actual kit got taller from NG to HGAC to RG. there's something fishy going on with Bandai's engineer hiring process here
Great review once again dude 😊 And having built and detail painted the HGAC I agree with you that there's a part of me that still prefers the HG over this one. There's an inherent elegance in the simpler design of the HGAC that's kinda lost on the more gimmicky aspects of the RG. Everything just "works" cleanly with the HGAC whereas with this one it just seems overly complicated while also ending up with more or less the same level of results. But I'll probably still get one, I mean it looks great and I really like the RG line but yes unlike the RG Nu and Sazabi this isn't exactly the "kit killer" (as Jabman would put it) that those were.
There's a special kind of charm with keeping TV designs simple -- or at least not overly convoluted. The HG kit was such an efficient kit, and I always felt all of the purchasing price went towards making us a great Wing Gundam we want. And like you said, there's no conflict in getting the RG too, the kit looks great, and the stranger parts of it can easily be ignored
I don’t think it was a troubled development. I feel it was a token $30 kit. A lot of the RG kits recently have been $50+ kits and people have actually been making noise about that.
It really has been a while since they've made an RG in the standard-sized box. Though I wonder if Bandai really is one to lose much sleep over angry fans who still buy new RG kits even if the price is spicy

20:30 I believe that joint is supposed to let the legs move up and down rather than forwards and back. (11-5 in the instructions on page 16) If you move that joint down you might get a little more out of the legs.
You're right, I do see that bit in the instructions. The legs move real nicely as they are though, gotta see how the articulation is with them dropped down the next time I have it out of storage
The new wings make sense. There's no way it would be able to fly with such small wings. Not saying this design makes it flight-worthy either, but at least it's more believable.

Seeing this, I'm curious what the RG of Wing Zero's TV design will feature. I like the EW version, but I think that it just takes the "wing" aspect too far.
I think Bandai quietly admitted that the Advanced MS Joint was a mistake by limiting it to some impractical parts of the newer RG kits. The nail in the coffin would be if the older RG got replaced with 2.0 version.
Good review and comparison. I prefer rgs than hgs unless theres no mg or rgs for a different experience. Most experienced modelers prefer a more involved build. I have this kit and compared to the hg, u can tell why the rg cost more.
@@HobbyClubhouse maybe it's because there are some mobile suits that are just almost impossible to make a model kit if they stick to the correct scaling. For example, I saw a video once about the RG Crossbone X1 which the vlogger said that it is actually 1/138 scale rather than a 1/144 because 1/144 Crossbone is just too small and all those RG mechanics and gimmicks won't simply fit. Maybe this is also the case with this RG Wing and also the reason why they omitted the opening cockpit to allow for the left and right chest articulation
I like the trend of lengthening the thighs, it gives more human proportions and looks more natural and heroic. Addressing the arms length, human arms descend about halfway down the thigh with fingers extended
Man if you saw the long arguments that go on, both with English and Japanese-speaking fans. It would be good if they would take your approach and go with what works for them:)
@@HobbyClubhouse I appreciate the kind words, and yeah a good mindset can make or break any situation. Sadly the internet is filled with heated debates, but thats what makes it such an interesting space. I got myself an RG Wing now btw, and damn I'm happy. my friends were just as impressed with the wings as I was 👌
Bandai is trying hard to please the western market , you can see at least now we got the tv ver of wing, for HGAC , MG wing zero ver ka, we also on the way for 4 s1 Gundam 00 MG, we got American P bandai now~ so yeah, bandai be like why we make the RG tv version we already got 2 ver of Wing zero EW , cause japan loves EW and most people love the EW ver more~ plus the only reason why they make RG wing now, cause Epyon probably share the same inner frame and the weird bird mode is probably for Epyon as well~
In America, the market really seems to be growing really quick, with more and more retail stores carrying Gundam kits. Just a few years back, it was all limited online importers. It's quite exciting to see what comes from this growth I hadn't thought of the Epyon transformation, but you're right, it does fold up just like that...
I kinda wanted to as well, though I didn't order it a few months back thinking I'd be pausing my channel by now. Everyone keeps saying how great it is, I wish I'd gotten one to review now too
that was a cheap move to exclude the pilot and hatch, hope a third-party dares to provide these options then we can see if it sells well should be simple and cheap enough to be profitable
@@HobbyClubhouse for me, hope not. I like pilot figures it kinda gives me that real robot feel with it, just seeing the difference between the MS and the pilot size.
For the TV Wing, the MG kit really is special because that was the de facto modern TV Wing for so many years. I've heard many people say they like it over the RG too for being less indulgent in the changes
@@HobbyClubhouse that's how to start a Civil War for you. Regarding the scale, the new HG SRW line doesn't have scale so I don't think about it that much as long that it's not a going to dissemble it self when I breathe on it like most RG's do.

I like the trend of lengthening the thighs, it gives more human proportions and looks more natural and heroic. Addressing the arms length, human arms descend about halfway down the thigh with fingers extended
Longer thighs are also a very common modification for custom builders, so it's definitely a body-shape a lot of fans find striking
I like the rg pilots honestly.
Another vote for the MIA pilot figures
I did not know the RG Wing was devicive, I think the new wings look badass. But take it from a gurren lagann fan to be a sucker for the rule of cool
I got myself an RG Wing now btw, and damn I'm happy. my friends were just as impressed with the wings as I was 👌
Yes, I care about pilot figures i haven't painted them in my recent style recently tho but yeah
I don't think I could ever paint them to a degree I'd be happy with them... They're so small
Guess I should make a tutorial video on painting pilot figures next after I upload my Handpainting gunpla tutorial
Bandai is trying hard to please the western market , you can see at least now we got the tv ver of wing, for HGAC , MG wing zero ver ka,
we also on the way for 4 s1 Gundam 00 MG,
we got American P bandai now~
so yeah, bandai be like why we make the RG tv version we already got 2 ver of Wing zero EW , cause japan loves EW and most people love the EW ver more~
plus the only reason why they make RG wing now, cause Epyon probably share the same inner frame
and the weird bird mode is probably for Epyon as well~
In America, the market really seems to be growing really quick, with more and more retail stores carrying Gundam kits. Just a few years back, it was all limited online importers. It's quite exciting to see what comes from this growth
I hadn't thought of the Epyon transformation, but you're right, it does fold up just like that...
i cannot 04-5 together for the life of me im about to set this kit on fire
Here me wishing for RG deathscythe...and his fellow buddy
i wanna see u review mg mk-v
I kinda wanted to as well, though I didn't order it a few months back thinking I'd be pausing my channel by now. Everyone keeps saying how great it is, I wish I'd gotten one to review now too
@@HobbyClubhouse I've seen one on one of our retail stores, so you can consider picking one up
The new bird mode name "Super Chicken"
RG has completely phased out HG for me. They're more fun to build, and look fantastic.
GunDamn!
GunDamn!
that was a cheap move to exclude the pilot and hatch,
hope a third-party dares to provide these options then we can see if it sells well
should be simple and cheap enough to be profitable
Both RG Zeong and the RG Wing gundam doesn't come with any mini Pilot figure.
You know, I totally didn't realize the Zeong didn't have a pilot figure either. I wonder if this is how things are from now on
@@HobbyClubhouse for me, hope not. I like pilot figures it kinda gives me that real robot feel with it, just seeing the difference between the MS and the pilot size.
To Me MG Wing is still way better
For the TV Wing, the MG kit really is special because that was the de facto modern TV Wing for so many years. I've heard many people say they like it over the RG too for being less indulgent in the changes
yeah i like the mini figures and the cockpit so this is a must not for me
The poor RG Wing really is a strange and unusual entry in the series
HGAC Wing > RG Wing
Man, if you've seen the wars fought online about that, especially in Japan...
@@HobbyClubhouse that's how to start a Civil War for you. Regarding the scale, the new HG SRW line doesn't have scale so I don't think about it that much as long that it's not a going to dissemble it self when I breathe on it like most RG's do.
Thats adorable.
damn your pronunciation for the word "Gundam" needs to change
Changed already:)
He's fine
