this was my first gunpla (only finished it last week) and i love it to bits. it’s really cool to hear an expert talk about what really makes this kit good. the one thing i will say is that i’ve found that the beam axe handle doesn’t actually stay in the hand that well, and even knocking it a little bit will detach it from the hand, but that might just be mine i guess? all i’ll say is it’s big, it’s red, it looks badass, it was a fantastic intro to the hobby for me. thank you for this video!
Your videos are so in-depth and intuitive, it’s very surprising to see not more Gunpla enthusiast flocking to your videos for more educated purchases on models and so forth. Keep up the great work!
The high grade proportions are still great, people that say the real grede makes the high grade irrelevant clearly haven't seen the movie or don't have appreciation for the anime design in my personal opinion. Props for makin the RG not look loke the MG but the MG looks better as a "realistic rendition" better, still probably gettin the RG tho
The MG Ver.Ka and RG both look really cool, but it does get boring seeing nothing but them around. This little(?) guy really is the best rendition of the animation Sazabi without additions like the opening armor
I bought this particular kit specifically for its anime design :) . Plus it fits better with the rest of my HG char kits. The rg is amazing and looks incredible but it seems weirdly overly detailed for my personal collection. Love your reviews man. Informative and fun. Great stuff to watch while I'm building my own kits :)
Thank you so much! I got this kit mostly as a companion to the Nightingale video, but I ended up liking the kit a lot. For the age and budget restraints of the kit, the engineers' care for the kit still shines through so much
I love this kit more than the RG. It has the best proportions of any Sazabi (aside from the original Wave 1/100 vinyl kit) and it comes the closest to matching the red. The build is also just sublime.
My god, you know about the Wave kit, kudos man! Just that box art alone is the stuff of legends. A true Sazabi connoisseur :) The simple lines and structure of this kit is just so exciting to pick up and look at in your hands
I agree. The rg torso is too squished while the hg and both the mgs have the signature bulky torso that gives a commanding presence that is fitting for the main man char himself who is at this era the highest commanding officer of his force. The hg proportions reflect that while having some hint of "sleekness" that implies its high manueverability to it that really does reflect the character
this is the first review of yours I found, and it's absolutely convinced me to give more HGs a chance, especially this one. People will tell you to look at nothing besides the RG, but this looks so good?
Seems like a good cheap alternative for making a custom build for ground variant. Paint green forest camouflage all though out, paint top chest plate orange. Replace the spread beam rifle with a beam sniper rifle. And finally replace funnels with missiles.
An HG kit is also easier to alter than an RG kit too if you want to reshape or refit anything. The clean surfaces are quite exciting for people who love to add their own panel line designs as well A forest camo Sazabi sounds really nice
@@HobbyClubhouse That's more Chars fault then anything. After all, HE supplied the Psycho frame tech that was used by the Nu in the first place. Say what you will about Char, but when the guy wants to fight Amuro, nobody can accuse him of being unfair.
Another awesome informative review. Even though I already have (and custom-painted) the RG, this is actually tempting me to buy this. Thanks! Also, the Jagd Doga's pronounced as "Yahgid" Doga. Just thought I'd let you know.
Oh yeah, I remember that pronunciation now that you mention it... That's actually really important since there's a review of the classic kit of the Jagd Doga in progress:)
The main advantage the hg has over the rg is the beam sabers. The rg has inaccurate green blades while the hg has the accurate yellow blades Btw the music is kind of loud in this video. Sometimes you can barely hear what you are saying. Only complaint with the video. Everything else was great
Is it wrong that I like the Char's Counterattack kits just because of the shoulder joint and the gunmetal plastic? I think these would be some of my favorite high grades if they simply had a thigh swivel, regardless of the ball jointed hips.
awwwwww hek yeee a classic kit that never gone out of style. i hope i can get this kit att som point. but living in a non gunpla ritch country is really enoying. but great vid keep up the great work.
Same. Just replacing that finnicky hip joint with a peg like newer kits would be the only real change necessary. Bandai could probably do what they did with the Rick Dias "Semi-Revive" from 2019.
The only real flaw this kit has is the ball joint hip connection. If only they had used a peg connection like new kits... or the HG Buster Gundam that was released years earlier... then this kit would be perfect.
@@mudmux Sadly, no. I've tried using pieces of plastic wrap around the ball joint itself for more friction, but that doesn't work. I even tried adding thin layers of glue on the joint and poly cap (while keeping them separated from each other until the glue dried) to increase friction, but that didn't work either. Nothing I've done works, and I think that's mostly due to how the ball itself is designed. It's got an odd oval shape compared to the proper round shape of other ball joints.
It really is a nice canvas for you to add any details you want I've been getting that here and there about my particular way of saying the word. Not sure I agree with the spelling there, but I get what you mean.
@@HobbyClubhouse it started as something pretty ridiculous with "freedom" and "gunboy" and eventually Tomino went with Gundom (Gun and the end of freedom). Then Tomino changed the end spelling to dam, like the structure. Because a Gundam can hold back enemies like a dam holds back water. Kinda cool bit of Gundam history, I think!
While I love the Ver. Ka and the RG. I mostly prefer this version! That's mostly because I'm not a fan of how overly designed and detailed they are. It's the same reason why I'm not a fan of the Gundam Unicorn design, it's just too overly panel lined and there's shit everywhere! While I don't hate all overly designed stuff, cause I do love The O, Nightingale, and XI Gundam! It's just, something about them really throws me off.
Sometimes all we want is the MS just like how it's designed:) Sometimes the piling on of details can seem excessive and outright change an MS, which is why some fans don't like the Ver.Ka adding the opening armor to the Sazabi
@@HobbyClubhouse I don't think the o is overly designed either, it and sazabi feel rather similar in design philosophy. Both the hg and mg o have rather clean and curvy surfaces with a sense of raw power from my favorite purple genius scirocco
At least this kit won't break at the hips and everytime you look at it. Thr RG kits are so nice but they are just awful. They're made of paper and everything breaks and falls off. When it comes to char/unicorn kits i prefer HG
It's not just the RG Sazabi, but the MG Ver.Ka is over-engineered to the point where the waist breaks and metal after-market replacements are easy to find....

Ah yes, the machine that Char traded what little sanity he had left for massive MS gains!
And the poor thing lost by a pretty clear margin against Nu

Thanks as always! I bet even stores won't prioritize getting HG Sazabi in stock because the RG probably sells much better...
Gonna buy this big boi soon along with the nightingale, honestly i like the hg more than the rg, the rg sazabi is too slim for my taste.
For me I find the RG Sazabi a little too fussy with all the moving parts that cause the kit to rattle quite a bit. The HG feels just right
Guess im getting this to go with the eg nu
Ayo, gonna bring some advice over here:
Bandai's Jet Effect set comes with a Cross connector so it can fit on this kit's funnels perfectly
i'm considering buying this kit. At first i'm thinking to buy the RG but with that price i can get 2 HG model
Concept
What would it look like if gojulas or mechagodzilla 1974, warmaster titan & t-800 fused sazabi together?
When you review HGUC Nightingale will you compare it with HGUC Sazabi? (Also give them Sleeves markings)
I'll certainly show this together with the Nightingale!
Sleeves marking sounds like an interesting build actually, I wonder why no one does it...
HG Sazabi has beautiful beam tomahawk effect part better than RG Sazabi. Full output effect part look like Claymore!
It's also in yellow instead of green on the RG too:)
a kit for people like the anime accuracy
And for folks in 2008 disappointed by the first MG
I think i just buy this because i'm afraid building RG sazabi left shoulder joint 😂
I wish this could get a Revive version.
