    That's why Jack will always be my all time favorite driver. Besides that he is one of most honest and funniest guy that I have ever known.

      ah hewett is always a character, they call him mr eldora for a reason, he was soo good at this track, but furthermore he said in an interview while fishing at the pond here that his dad was actually the first one to run a racecar here before the track was al the way finished being built so his family has very deep ties to the track and facillity

    Jack Hewitt made history that night. One hell of a driver and a great bloke . Raced against Jack in the 80's in Australia. Always told good stories

    • @frenzalrhomb6919

      I remember him coming over here a few times in the late 70s and the early 80s, driving with a team of touring American drivers, in the what Americans would call "Late Models".
      I remember him also coming out in the 70s and racing Sprintcars, I don't exactly know what it was that happened there, but he was in an "disagreement" with one of our blokes on the track, that he later tried to "sort out" in the pits. This led to him being "banned" by the National Sprintcar Driver's Association, and he unfortunately never raced another Sprintcar in Australia, which in the end, was our loss really.
      But as I said, he came out here many times on National Tours in the year following the incident, racing in the Sedan Class.
      A truely multi talented Champion of the Sport.

    Jack Hewitt, "He rides 'em high because he's not afraid to die."
    There was another year, 80's I think maybe, where he won 3/4. One of them he got on his head in the heat and came back and won the feature. Anyone remember that?

    I am A Kyle Larson fan but he did NOT do what JACK did...

    • @cmoore185
      @cmoore185 7 лет назад

      Nope, he didn't but the field was a lot tougher when Kyle did it. Jack's modified was a professional racer against a bunch of poor boys. The modifieds are an entry level class. Jack should have totally embarrassed them. Larson's was just as impressive. to equal Jack's he would have had to win in go karts too if they would have run them.

    • @cmoore185
      @cmoore185 7 лет назад

      The first year they had them, the outlaws ran syracuse mile the day before. After Kinser won it, Johnny Vance asked if he wanted to run his sprint car and his Silver Crown. They were called Dirt Champ cars then. He won both from the back.

    • @cmoore185
      @cmoore185 6 лет назад

      Actually Jack won in the modified, a low buck entry level car. That would be like running a factory stock. If Jack wouldn't have won in the modified, it would have been an upset. The fact is if Jack ran ten modified races at Eldora, he would have won all of them.

    • @brsteg34
      @brsteg34 6 лет назад

      Kyle won the 3 USAC races in 2011 and then won the first feature (midgets) of the 2012 4 Crown. So you know what, he won 4 straight 4 crown features just like Jack did... just not on the same night.
      No way you slice is it not impressive from both men.
