Demon's Tilt Review | Beautiful Pinball

- Is Demon's Tilt just pinball? This digital table has a lot to offer and if you like more arcade feeling pinball then Demon's Tilt is for you! There are many mechanics that wouldn't work on a realistic pinball table. Still, it requires the same skills of placing the ball exactly where you need it to go. The rituals are mini quests on the tables and finishing them is difficult. I highly recommend Demon's Tilt.

I'm back in the mix on this one again, Demon's Tilt is great and it's available for free on Epic game store right now!
yep why im here lol. Remember when windows actually had built in games that were fun? i remember the pinball that used to be on there. Windows hates fun today
@@jonathansoko1085 I was just talking to my wife about this and she said she hated that pinball. 😂 Does Windows even come with games now? Online crap?
@@peppage Idk how anyone could have hated that pinball game, especially if its all you had. I remember for quite awhile in the late 90s early 00s all we had was a pc, a couple adventure games and that pinball, it was great. And windows comes with candy crush pre installed. Its part of the reason why candy crush has so many "downloads", they inflate their numbers by paying windows and other products to have it pre installed so it counts. I remember hearing an interview with the creator of that old windows pinball game, wish i could remember where
This game is so crazy, I love it! More tables would indeed make the game more awesome, we will see if the devs will make that, I guess that players ask for that often. I love a pinball games once in a while, and this one is so well done, it's amazing.
I bet the people that play are DYING for more tables but the game is so niche and probably won't sell like crazy so I wonder if it's worth it
I play Demon's Tilt regularly, and the only complaints I've had were how long it took to understand the table in general and how frustrating it can be not to be able to see everything when multiball is active. If you have a ball on the top board and one on the bottom, you can only see the bottom ball. I guess it assumes you won't be able to split your attention well enough to keep track of them both but I would at least like the opportunity to try. Aside from that, I absolutely adore this game and this board. A top must play for any fan of pinball, video or otherwise.
You can play in Tate/vertical mode but I don't think that solves the problem completely.
To be fair it’s only one table because the game itself is a modern day recreation of Devil Crush (also known as Dragons Fury) which also had just the one table
I wish it would look alike dragons fury.. loved it ^^
This is a love letter to Alien and Devil Crush. That's it.
Not everyone will know that.
H R Giger inspired stuff is always cool.
They even copied the music almost exactly the Bonus levels have different music only
It’s the spiritual successor to demon crush on turbografx/dragons fury on genesis. It was a relatively popular genre back in the 16bit days. There was battle pinball on snes, sonic spinball, and pokemon pinball series. There were more arcade pinball games back then because realistic simulation was more difficult
Sonic spinball was my jam! Also epic pinball
Nice review and I agree that they don't have enough information on how to play the table which is the standard in other Pinball video games like Pinball FX and Pinball arcade. There are guides on Steam but the developer really should have done one himself.
Most pinball machines don't lock up straight away if you tilt them. You are usually given 1 or 2 warnings before it will do that.
Thanks! Good point about the tilt
A spiritual sequel to Dragons Fury????? (Devil's Crush) take my moneeeyey
I have the same question. I still can sink many hours into dragons fury
@@opaljk4835 same. The OST is amazing
Ahh looks like the old Devil Crash on the Megadrive. Amazing. And I think I saw a stage in the video too, I hope there is more of that.
It's a remake of Alien Crush on TG16 which was made by "Compile" same company that made Devils Crush and the Aleste MUSHA series.
Thanks for the review dude! The aesthetic of this game is super appealing.
Thanks! I would also love to see more games with this aesthetic
Man I haven't been able to catch your reviews in months so now I get to watch a bunch of them! :)
Wooo!
Have you kept playing the game since the review? A lot of your takes in here (the bullet hell aspect doesn't really matter, nudging being too frustrating to use) would've resonated with me in my first few hours with the game, but I've actually been playing quite a bit over the last few months and now have a lot more respect for the bullet hell portion of the game (it gets MUCH more difficult as you go further and further.)
This game looks beautiful! I wanna make pixel art this good!
Agreed, I have no idea how they do it
i love the tilt function in this game. it takes time to get used to it but then once you are it significantly extends your survival time and scores
Agreed but it can be a little dangerous too
If realistic pinball was what I was going for I'd play a real table. I think the people that buy/play this game are those who played Devils Crash back in the day. ^_^
Yeah but I hope it reaches a wider audience
A wonderful love letter to the greatest pinball game of all time, which went under the following names:
Devil’s Crush (Turbografx 16, censored version)
Devil Crash MD (Sega Megadrive in Japan, uncensored version)
Dragon’s Fury (Sega Megadrive/Genesis in Europe and North America, censored version in NA)
This would be more of a throwback to the TG-16 games Demons Crush and Alien Crush they were not interested in realism instead more objective based..... Ever Play the Sonic Pinball game on the Sega Genesis??
Sonic spinball was one of my favorites. Although if you play now the controls are frustrating!
Just broke my first billion! Love this game. :)
Awesome!! I love it too 😁
This game actually got me to break out Crue Ball on my Genesis
Crue Ball Rules
Just bought Demon's Tilt; it's downloading right now so I watched this vid for some opinions on it. I got it because I was told that this game was the spiritual successor to Devil's Crush, a game I absolutely adored on the Sega Genesis back in the day. Glad these guys did that game justice. All the flaws you pointed out---the hectic nature of the table, the lack of an explanation as to how you play the game---these were features on the original Devil's Crush. Wish they improved upon those things but hey, I guess it's authentic? Thanks for a killer review that reminded me of what I liked and didn't like about the original game.
I love your comment! Thanks :) I would have played the heck out of Devil's Crush but the only pinball game I had on Genesis was Sonic Spinball.
@@peppage and I'm the opposite---never had Sonic Spinball! Didn't play that until I was in my 30's and it's a shame because I would have loved it in my teens. At any rate I played a ton of Demon's Tilt last night. Got to 145 million after many, many low scoring games, but that was after I figured out the key strategy: The green ball save on the lowest level (the one that prevents you from losing a ball) can be activated by hitting certain targets. Then you just let the ball drain and the ball save takes the ball to the mid level of the playfield where it is much safer. I do that if the ball gets down to the bottom and then I focus on completing the mid and upper levels. I completed the mid level but the upper is a pain due to the wide amount of drain space on the upper level flippers. Great game, very challenging, very fun. Thanks again for the review!
@@peppage The hectic-ness in demons tilt is really just reflective of real pinball. If you ever play a good solid game of pinball, you'll find out really quickly.
There are so many flashing lights and things to look at, and when that multiball kicks in, it takes a lot of concentration to keep those balls in play effectively.
Pinball is very spectacle. It's like a breed of gambling and gaming.... Like a slot machine video game of sorts. I think it's sad that pinball goes relatively overlooked by a lot of gamers these days. It's like a game of physics, and a little bit of luck doesn't hurt to have either.
Bringing it back, Excellent.
My kind of game!
Great! I'm glad I could show it to you
This reminds me of Devil's Crush on the Turbografx 16 (aka the best pinball game ever).
I believe that was an inspiration here. Note they're releasing a new table soon
@@peppage im glad i bought it then
Dragon's Fury plays better IMO
@@davidb.8948Not a chance
I feel so conflicted during "ball drained"
Pinball Arcade. The best replica of real-life pinball tables in the world for PC. This table, however, seems to me to be a mish-mash of things.
I wonder if pinball would work well in VR? They could do a lot of crazy stuff that way.
Yeah! But, I wonder how they would handle the camera. Do they give the perspective like someone is playing a real table because moving the camera might make someone sick
@@peppage Depends on how crazy you get. I can't imagine a classic, stationary pinball table giving anyone worse motion sickness walking around. If you blow up the table to planet size and put the camera inside the ball, then yeah vomit comet.
@@Arashmickey I LOL at vomit comet 😀
Pepp's indie reviews it’s like looking down at a real table. It works pretty well. Best part is with the 3D you get a much better sense of the table layout.
Pinball fx3 has that, but it’s a separate product and not really worth it IMO
Reminds me of Necronomicon on Sega Saturn
*When you do a review, you should try to show video to emphasize what you're saying. You have gameplay running in the background, but this review would have just served the same if it was just heard from an audio source.*
OK, thanks for the feedback
im so addicted to this game , one question, how u got to play those diffrent tables i cant play on athers
You must reach them from the main table
I was looking up videos of this game because I just got my PS4 hardcopy from Limited Run Games. I am kind of disappointed to see there's just one big table, especially considering what I paid for it. I may not even bother opening it now. Maybe just re-sell it.
I love Dragon's Fury
Difference between Switch and PS4?
3 Y E A R S OF SUFFERING AND STILL NO NEW TABLES
I don't think they're going to add any. I would take a new game though
@@peppage A new game would be nice with like 20 or 10 tables
I wonder what this will look like on my Sharpin Switch cab
Great review, I didn’t read a guide so perhaps I missed some of the depth there but I still don’t think it compares to tables with entertaining missions with advancing objectives. But Pinball FX doesn’t replicate real pinball in my opinion, just the physics as best they can. I mean, you fight a giant dragon in Skyrim. I guess you could argue the new Williams license tables are realistic. But for over a decade everything before them was fantastical.
Thanks! I did mean the physics but I also confused it with pinball arcade where they scan the tables.
Pepp's indie reviews oh yeah, that’s what they are kinda doing with the Williams tables. You can play fantastical or you can play classic. Pinball Arcade was pretty brutal and realistically heavy. All of Farsight’s tables were.
The FX3 tables based on real arcade pinball tables have an arcade accurate mode that is much more realistic
the screen moving to track the ball is giving me motion sickness
Wouldn't changing the zoom help with that? Maybe zooming out a little, especially when there are multiple balls
This is coming free next week on epic games 😓 eh better than nothing I guess
is super light. download it, try it and tell "eh better than nothing" again
@@odioalospoopers lol appreciate the advice
Looks real cool like a Jennie
Yo you from NY cause dead ass you sound like my ass to the T when I was a kid and there was a bowling alley with a addams family pinball machine
Hah! I'm from New Jersey. That specific bowling alley was in Medford
I think hack and slash is referencing fighting the enemies in the bottom section.
How do you get portrait mode?
From the main menu you must select Tate/Vertical display
Xenotilt soon?
I cannot wait
Play if you want to have a seizure
Did you have one?
@@peppage no, played for about 10 seconds, could no go on.
Can you play this on a vertical monitor?
Yes. It has TATE mode
Why only one level though?
If you play on Ex-Mode you can get to other smaller tables. I played a bowling one!
I wonder why the game is on such a narrow table. It feels more like three mini tables, than 1 big one. I'm not sure there will be enough to do.
There has to be a limit?
What am I missing here this looks like a straight rip off of dragons fury .
I don't think you're missing anything, as that's what everyone is saying in the comments. But this is new and available on your modern pc
junk
Can you elaborate?
Sadly we never got a new table but they are releasing a new game called Xeno Tilt soon!
I am so excited!
