Re-watched Superman II recently & realized why these films will be loved & remembered forever...THESE SUPERHERO MOVIES WERE NOT EMBARRASSED TO BE SUPERHERO MOVIES! BY EMBRACING THE SOURCE MATERIAL the first wave of Superman and Batman films were instantly triumphant. When you combine the right ingredients: ROUSING MUSICAL THEMES, emphasize "VISUAL" over "WRITTEN" EXPOSITION, the audience THEN HAS AN AUTHENTIC AND EMOTIONAL EXPERIENCE. THE PREMISE IS NEVER MEMORABLE, THE EXPERIENCE IS!
This was one of the best things Richard Lester did for the film give us a very hopeful ending showing Superman and promising to never let us down! Awesome stuff
I thought Superman Returns was based on the premise that he disappeared from Earth after Superman II? Because Lois marries someone else, and everything (but her kid is Superman's?)
At 0:15, it looks like that woman who works at the cafe didn't care about the damages Clark caused where she was probably mostly happy that Clark hurt Rocky badly where her happy look was like "I'm glad somebody finally taught Rocky a lesson" and/or "Rocky has amnesia (he had a head injury) so now he will never damage or hurt anyone ever again."
That`s what I`d always admired him for, it`s relatively easy to act a part in a Movie but to really fight in REAL life against such an appalling condition,well, THAT took real courage such as you obviously have. Keep fighting Man, it`s ALWAYS worth it !.
If I were to re-edit this film, I would have left in the entire diner scene leading up to the White House, along with the originally deleted scene of Lex Luthor getting arrested by the Arctic Police with the appearance of the Kryptonian villains being arrested digitally erased from the background, while also leaving out both Superman's amnesia kiss and seeing Superman turning back time on Earth again through reverse planet rotation. Doing this I fully realize wouldn't completely answer how Lois Lane loses her memory of Clark's identity and the events that transpired throughout the movie, but it would honestly feel much closer like a completed movie than with what they tried to do when releasing Superman 2 The Richard Donner Cut.
Then after this scene telling the president he's sorry for being away for so long and wouldn't let him down again astronomers found krypton in pieces inwhich he left AGAIN literally for 5 years coming back like everything is normal to him😅
It's strange that Clark forgot to buy that hamburger for Lois that he promised where it looks like all that money he gave to Ron to pay for the damages Clark caused was the money he was going to use to buy the hamburger for Lois.
@@integrity101 Wrong. Donnor Cut is an Alternate Earth, like the Snyder cut of Justice League. Theatrical is the canon true story. Further proven in CW's Crisis On Infinite Earths were I, II, III, IV and Returns exist in the same timeline.
