Remember, half his ult used in a good location is better than his entire ult in a bad one, don't be afraid to waste some of it, if it means getting better ult positions
@@wolfie-_-ranger7932 It just means that only using some of your ult in a really good spot is more valuable than wasting your whole ult in some random spot
@@wolfie-_-ranger7932 you have a limited amount of time where you can actually use the ult before it cuts out. 5 seconds? Probably about 5 seconds. Prioritize setting up toe dwarf's lava blobs in good locations rather than trying to get all of your ult shots before the time limit ends
I'm not sure if they removed it in OW2, but in OW1 his ultimate timer would start when the last blob was placed. So it was a really good strat to shoot the last one upwards so all of them would stay on the ground for longer
Almost the case, but from what I have played on torb each blob will trigger its timer individually, so you can put half down instantly, and then half later in the same spot, and stall it that way. It won’t keep the first blob down if you haven’t shot the last blob or something like that if that’s what you are saying
Another good general tip for sentry spots, is to think like a TF2 engineer and place it in a way that is punishes over-extending enemies so that it can’t get destroyed eaaily
my friend was complaining that whenever he throws a sentry it breaks instantly but when the enemy throws a sentry it kills half the team he proceeded to throw his sentry in front of all the gunfire...
Side note on torb's ult, if you're in an open field with no roof, put like 2-3 shots in the air so that when they fall down to the ground, you'll get a longer uptime of his ultimate.
I like to put his turret next to choke points where the enemy will walk into a room, and be forced to either take turret damage, turn and take my teams damage or retreat.
2 huge tips for his ult: 1) Tap fire. Don't hold down the fire button, as that almost garuntees a lot of overlap. Take the time to aim each shot, not shooting in a general direction. 2) Use his ult not just where enemies are at the moment, but also along the path they will take to fall back. Shooting some lava behind them means as they try to back out from you (and hopefully your team) being aggressive, they walk right into more lava, which can secure more kills.
I’ve had a lot of folks try to challenge me as Torb up close and I’ve never quite understood why, Torb has some absolutely insane damage in close range.
A tip here should be play Torb on attack maps too. Underrated af, partly because not a single soul really expects it or has enough experience to play around torbs in that kind of position. Atleast that's what I've noticed
I use torb turret to help block enemy fire on many many choke points. You can peak the turret and step to cover and repair when they start shooting it. Often it will distract their team enough that my team gets free shots and cleans up, even if I don't.
@@elliswebster7041 ok ok but more so than you know how he is now. Now you don't even have to build or think about the turrets or plan ahead, his ultimate just shoot stuff over the ground and forget about it
Don't forget, torb hammer and fire speed increases with his E, and its also quite useful to use his ult to cover ground like chokes or on points, to try to keep them off/away from the objective. One game I did I had the turent hidden in the enemy backing. And I also used my ult to try to separate the healer (Ana, and bap at the time) away from their teammates, yes they got long range but my turrent grabbed their attention.
For Torbjørn his primary fire is a projectile weapon meaning his primary fire can be easily evaded due to it being projectile based. In Payload mode Torbjørn turrets tend to be placed on it like a Pre 2022 rework of Bastion
crouching behind his turret and repairing with your hammer..certain maps you can sit in a corner and never get hit..the turret hides your body completely..used it to good effect on many maps..
I feel like his primary fire's traveling speed is a bit too slow, does anyone else feel the same? Though it has pretty good power so I suppose it's fair, plus his turret is hitscan, although completely stationary. Also I feel it's not a bad idea to place your turret far in the back but still in line of sight of where main fighting will take place, since if your team is in front of where it's shooting, it's a lot harder to focus it down.
Overload before you alt to. He literally announces his presence. Also, I find it works best when used to zone the flank or the rush. It isn’t meant for kills but it’s meant for keeping the enemy on bad/ unsafe ground. But this with Orisa or zarya and the whole team fight can be won. Idk how many team fights I’ve brought back as torb when it was just me. He’s my highest win rate character at 73%. Love torb. And they just keep buffing him??
Yeah the ult thing is the easiest bad habbit to pick up - literally spraying and praying it. If the enemy is about to push through a choke and your throw your turret on one side of the door whilst standing at the other side is a free W - they either go for you in which case you press e and chunk them whilst running away and they're being shot by your turret, they could go for your tank in which can both you and your turret can focus them, or they'll go for your turret in which case yiu can just press e and run up behind them spamming right click til they're dead. In any case never stand next to your turret.
I love dwarf diving on the new maps. Jumping from high ground with molten core and spraying it everywhere then using my secondary fire and shoving it up the enemies ass. The best part is if I die my turret can still do damage.
I think I'm a pretty good Torb but I actually never noticed you could "hold" his ult to place the lava in better places. And definitely the biggest mistake noob Torbs make is placing the turret in exposed places. They treat it like Torb's original turret which could go up to lvl 3 an was all about controlling big open areas, but this current turret is much frailer than that, and its value is instead in its perfect aim and sustained damage. So put it around corners and stuff where it either protects against flankers, or will attack the enemy when they engage to fight your team and thus won't notice where the turret is firing from.
Remember, if you fire your ult to the air the countdown of your ult starts expiring only when it hits the floor, so you can extend its duration by a little bit.
It took me a good 2 hrs or torb gameplay to figure out it didn’t stack dmg when I was playing ow1 and that was when my torb ascended when I learned to spread the spoolge
I'd also advise to switch h the position of the Turret throughout the fight, a lot of Torbs will have favourite predictable positions, you get most value when the enemy isn't sure where the turret is. This is from a gold Torb with a 97% win rate on the hero in comp, I'm not the best player but I know Torb real well
As someone with a 65% winrate on 20 hours of torb, you essentially wanna play him as his own mini team. Your turret is the DPS that dies easily so you have to position them so they can't easily be bursted down. Torb is the tank that takes pressure off your turret by being a menace and requiring enemy attention, so the turret can do consistent damage and grab picks you may not have gotten yourself. A torb constantly pumping out damage and making it difficult to choose between shooting him or his turret is a good torb. To sit by your turret and hammer away not only gives your enemy a clear choice of what to shoot, but leaves you open for any AOE damage. The turret is a 6th player and should be treated as one.
Idk if this was because of my comment or not but thank you so much! I've played Torb since before his rework in OW and still didn't know the ult tip. You are a godsend
the dumbest thing I see is people throwing the turret right in front of the enemy like it's a grenade. Two things I would add about turrets. There are some objects that will protect the lower part of the turret, like wagons and planters. Also turrets should be as far as possible away from the enemy while still be able to hit them. Put your turret up when your team starts engagement.
