      @@hoost3056 Can't say I have used one but I know they have a lot of really high end stuff. Companies like that and M&M were the ones I was thinking of when I was saying there are fully billet bolt together converters. And of course the lockups and all that. I doubt you would see much if any benefit to spending that much on something if you aren't making crazy power though.

    Don't you love how you get the best performance from anything when its free and come's with clothing ......

    • @SquirrelTuned
      @SquirrelTuned  3 года назад +1

      None of my customers have gotten free parts. The results seen time and time again there is the reason I have any of this stuff. Also all of this wasn't free, discounted yes. I'll happily show the proof the parts are better when the car is running though. I don't push parts that aren't actually good parts or lie for anybody. The best interest for me and my business is to have my car perform the best it can for advertising, and have my customer cars perform the best they can so they are happy. If I was a big influencer or something pushing parts it would be different. I understand the skepticism though. Stay tuned I'll be happy to show proof that this stuff is no joke. And show why so many people are changing over.

    I had very bad luck with Hughes. Pump hub broke, destroyed the pump and wiped out my expensive 6L80E. And they pretty much gave me the middle finger. I will never run their products again.

    • @SquirrelTuned
      @SquirrelTuned  3 года назад

      I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience. Not placing blame, obviously don't know the situation. But those exact issues happen when the converter is not fully seated into the pump on install. I've been with them nearly a year now though and any time there has been any small issue they have gone above and beyond to take care of it. And have gone above and beyond even when there wasn't an issue for my customers. I've had Pete help me fix a customers issue that had to do with the trans and converter that weren't even from them. The only Hughes part was a flexplate.

    • @jaydubb71
      @jaydubb71 3 года назад

      @@SquirrelTuned if it failed immediately then I would agree with you. That trans/converter was in the car for over 2 years when it happened.

      @@jaydubb71 Seems like a strange failure. Could you give more details?

    • @jaydubb71
      @jaydubb71 3 года назад +1

      @@kylemilligan752 sure. Trans was in the car for over 2 years. Mind you, it was raced maybe every other weekend. One day, it starts slipping. Figured maybe it was just time to rebuild. Get the trans pulled out. The builder pulls the converter out and notices the pump hub on the converter is cracked. I called Hughes and the state the converter wasn't shimmed properly during installation. Installer says the converter was shimmed to either 1/4 or 1/8 of an inch (can't remember now, it's been a while). If the converter has wasn't shimmed properly, would it have lasted over 2 years? I spoke to another converter company about it and he stated that there was a bad batch of pump hubs floating around at that time and everyone was affected by it. I called Hughes back and they totally denied it. I called several converter companies and they confirmed the same thing. So basically in a nut shell, I got screwed. The bad part was I won this converter from them in a contest on a site that they sponsored. I was supposed to get a converter worth about 1000 bucks but when I looked up the part number on their site, it was a budget unit. Mind you, when I won the contest, HUGHES PERFORMANCE CONTACTED ME DIRECTLY so I know the site didn't give me the shaft. Ended up costing me almost 3000 bucks to get my trans fixed, not including purchasing a new converter. I will never run their products again.

    • @kylemilligan752
      @kylemilligan752 3 года назад

      @@jaydubb71 So You got a budget converter for free in a contest. Raced it every other weekend for 2 years. Then it failed. Now it should be under warranty. And.... they should probably pay for your transmission rebuild.

      @@SquirrelTuned I’m not sure if the factory hyper pistons can handle the power. I know the 4.8 has the Rod/Stroke to handle high rpms.
      SBC 283 has a R/S 1.900”
      4.8 LS has a R/S 1.9189” 👍
      I’m definitely interested in the results! Also the HR cam with limited travel lifters?

    • @SquirrelTuned
      @SquirrelTuned  3 года назад +6

      @@HeadFlowInc I don't see why it wouldn't be able to take the same power as a 5.3 with stock pistons and Capizzi has me beat by a few hundred hp comparing to my old record. Torque is more the concern though not horsepower. And yes HR cam with ST2116LSR Johnson lifters. Took it to 8650 with the old combo but backed it down cause it didn't make power there with the small cam. Has much bigger now though and a lot more turbo. Intake will be the biggest limitation on RPM now in my opinion. Probably need something different to really make power to 9k but I will find out.

      No you didn't I seen it pop up then couldn't find it I'm not sure what happened there. Maybe RUclips filter caught it? Idk but I did read it. The problem with that idea would be the block has to be threaded into so they would have to spin on one side to go in the block.

      @@SquirrelTuned not a big deal. with a midplate, do you still have dowels ? I was just wondering how things stay in place (other than simply leaning into the midplate) if 1 or the other is removed ?

    • @SquirrelTuned
      @SquirrelTuned  3 года назад +1

      @@joeyjojojr.shabadoo915 yes sir still dowels that stay in the engine. And when the engine alone is in it is of course held by the motor plate then I just bolt through the mid plate into the engine although could just let the dowels hold it up. When just the trans is in it is held by the trans mount and it can just lean on the mid plate or a bolt can be put through it doesn't have to be threaded into anything. Hopefully that makes sense!
