@Samuel L. Hydeson Or probably just normie, I doubt 90% of people give a shit about average users or meta on websites unless youre heavily involved with Internet culture
I had the Emperor's New Cape for a while and I'd always tell people the trivia behind why it's invisible. I was surprised to hear so few people had heard of the story. I don't really think it's ugly, I think it's more of a funny pun, but I understand it's inclusion in the video.
Just found your videos after getting back into WoW, and at first I thought your delivery was understated, but now I realize it's perfect... especially when talking about issues with curved... swords... and druid cabbage. +1 sub. :)
8:19 Holy crap was I pissed when I logged in and my Lightforge helmet had changed. From awesome winged looking Dragoon helmet, probably the best looking helmet in the game at the time besides Shadowcraft, to McDonalds hat.
The emperor's new clothes is also a common referance and easter egg in most western MMOs along with the english version of FFXIV and in Path of Exile. It's the common name given to clothing items without any apperance. In all cases they serve a practical purpose of apperance changing your gear so you can be naked. Vary rarely do I see people use it, outside of wanting to appear topless so they can go around being a barberian or pugalist.
Wow. I never knew what the Hamstring icon actually was until now. I always believed it was a hoof since the icon came from the Tauren Chieftain from WC3 (yes, I thought he had two different hoof-icons. Moo moo). This is just like when I, in WoD, realised that AV stood for Alterac and not Alterec.
I was one of the first people on my server in vanilla to craft Robes of the Archmage for myself, and after running Blackrock Spire several dozen times and then spending a few days farming the mats, I was rewarded for my efforts with a placeholder vest that also happened to show off my guild first placeholder Netherwind pants. Those were exciting times.
Bit of trivia for 8:50 - Dave The Quick is a reference to a player known as Sck; widely regarded as one of the best PvP Paladins in the very early days of WoW.
In TBC we needed an arcane resist tank for Telestra in TK to just stand there and soak up the debuffs. We had our poor offtank throw on every single piece of +arcane resist gear we could find, regardless of whether it was plate, leather or even cloth. The proud 70 prot warrior looked like a level 45 mage in leveling greens and everyone mocked him endlessly for it. Easily one of the funniest terrible looking gear sets I've ever seen
ffxiv references that cloak i think! the whole "emperor's new" set is invisible. obviously it is a reference to the emperor's new clothes story, but, i think that it's a double reference since wow is the first to do it in a video game. and the ffxiv devs like wow, still congratulate the wow devs on wow's achievements, and have more than one wow reference in the game.
Most informative *and* entertaining, classic mad. BTW, last night, when my low level NE priest buffed Madseason's low level NE druid I had the biggest (ok, only) fanboy moment in WOW. He even mentioned it! /faint

Back than a Warrior got the Obsidian Blade and was hyped about it. Shortly after it's design was patched and he clearly wasn't happy with it. Crovex, my favourite Warrior all time!
Back in classic I held onto so many extra pieces of gear on my rogue. I had my fire resist set, nature resist set, maximum dps set and my non raiding set. Non raiding set was a set that cared more about aesthetics than stats. Once you got enough bloodfang it’s hard to not look cool.

Some trivia from a guy who played vanilla back then: Bonereaver's Edge was actually a terrible weapon and very unpopular one in the early versions/patches of the game because A) 3.4 speed before the weapon normalization patch was horrible and and it didnt have stamina it has now B) The chance for effect to proc was insanely low + it was a debuff on the enemy and not a self buff, if i remember correctly it was only 300 armor reduction on enemy and a dispelable Curse effect so people with enough shadow resistance could resist it and other classes could dispel it making it pretty much a useless weapon Basicly Bonereaver's Edge was Vendorstrike of Vanilla before Vendorstrike meme was a thing.
Considering all blockyness, tier sets from vanila and BC are the embodyment of WoW art style and it's peak quality in terms of visual desighn. I hope blizz will pay respects to it in retail and remodel all old sets like they did with T6 in legion.
Fast fact: the initial pass of the Beaststalker's reskin had no chest model on female toons. My hunter had the original skins of Beaststalker's, Giantstalker's, and Dragonstalker's =D
