- This is part 2 of a 2 part series on how to use a speed square. In this video we'll get into laying out plumb cuts, different ways to figure and mark out level cuts and laying out birdsmouth cuts. I want to thank @Ashley Harwood for the idea to go back to basics. I highly recommend following Ashely, she's a wonderful teach and woodworker.
I like to keep a couple of 12" squares for marking larger material and then in my tool bags, I carry the 7" Martinez Titanium square. This is 100% a luxury tool for me and I love this square.
Oh and another takeaway, if you use a drone for commercial work, you need to be part107 certified. Commercial work includes social media like RUclips if you plan to make an income off of that. I watched a video about this last May and then purchased the Part 107 Course sso.teachable.... I studied and learned for 1 month and then took my test. I scored a 95%, which is a testament to how good Greg and the crew over there teach. That link will save you $100 off the course and support this channel.

It’s one thing to be good at your craft but it’s another to be able to share and teach what you know. Thanks for your hard work Tim.
Never knew what the two lines on the end of the Swanson were for. Glad I watched this video
Hey, could you do a video where you define some of the terminology you use? I build things but I’m self taught and I work alone so I don’t hear a lot of the terms. I want to follow along but I hear diff types of cuts being referenced and I don’t know exactly what that cut is. A video defining some of these terms really quickly may be cool!
Love my Martinez square. last square I had was a johnny and I'm never going back
More back to basics videos. These are all fantastic!
Thanks tim. You taught me some new stuff Your good man
First time I learn something from a video about speed sq. Nice!
Love your videos! Thanks for all the help
Nice video thanks for the refresher course. Would love to see a video on cutting steps or stair
I didn’t know the 22.5 trick. Thanks!
I just received my new toy, a Construction Master Pro calculator :) today!!!
Thinking about buying a tele handler what size do you recommend if we would only have one size and any giant walls would be craned up also id love to know how well doing corners that don’t overlap the siding works and any tips on the corners
I couldn’t wait for prt 2 lol!! Thank you!!
Thanks!
Thank you!!
👍
Awesome 🥳🥳🥳
Hey boss who makes that saw ?
Hitachi/Hikoki
Would you use the Martinez for clearing ice off the lumber?
I use mine all the time it's titanium it does it no harm
Thanks. The one thing that would have been better is if the camera had been zoomed in to see the markings easier.
I love my martinez
when are you doing another video of the two houses that u just started?
The seat cut thing got confusing. Good vids though, thanks.
Well for one thing that item you call a square, it's actually a triangle..,now the real question is,,does anyone know how much those seashells are that Suzy sells down by the seashore?
I found they work really good for throwing at people that make stupid comments. Just sayin.
I see he has a lot of tools on his belt, but what is that hiding under his shirt?
😂😂😂😂 fuel tank for a RUclips machine
@@AwesomeFramers lmao, awesome man.
Which mechanical pencils do you use? How does it compare to the fatboy

I don't know.
Now we need a video on how to justify a $300 speed square.......................
Did you watch to the end? I addressed that. There is zero justification 😂😂😂😂
@@AwesomeFramers I’m glad someone admits it
It's a $300 level, the speed square is a free bonus 😆
Every now and then a carpenter treats themselves to a “cool tool”. If you want a really cool tool then buy the Martinez micro square, in titanium.
🥰
Thanks!
