I used to work for a lumber and hardware store and sold a thousand of these Swanson Speed squares!!! I never learned how to use one until watching your videos. Thanks for the great tips, Paul.

Thanks Paul. I just started watching your videos because they are easy to follow for beginners. I do not have a lot of power tools or tools at all for that matter. Believe it or not I'm 60 years old and never took the time to have a hobby. I regret it often, so now I'm getting ready to do some simple projects that keep me busy and hopefully can bring enjoyment to others. Thanks Again.

refreshing to watch a guy who knows his stuff but doesn't get a big head about it. Informative, concise, and to the point. Well done and thank you for explaining this in a way that a novice can understand!

Paul - I really appreciate your heart to help people and teach them the things you have learned over the years. I recently refinished all of my kitchen cabinets using your tips - sanded, primed (that spray can primer was amazing!), painted and finished with the Deft spray lacquer. Thank you so much - I must have watched those videos 10x each to get it just right!

Always good to see videos on how to use tools. Took me a long time back in the day to learn all the tricks of the speed square. Man, if we would have had RUclips back in our early years of getting started in life in our building professions, we all could have been faster, better, more informed. Thanks Paul for making these videos for those who do not understand how to use the tools of our trade. Keep it all up. You are doing a great service brother.

Great video Paul. When I learned framing in the 70's with my dad who was a home builder, I always wondered what the speed square was for. He would rarely use it except to square up lineal. He only used his framing square to layout rafters and stair treads. In the 90's the speed square was never far from my hands on layouts...

I learned from the last video how to get the angle for some handrails using the speed square from you. It was right on. I used a string and socket on the end for the plumb bob. Who knew? Thank you. I was sweating it cutting the top rail that costs $50 for each trex board.

yeah i made gambrel rafters with the typical 5/12 pitch. I used trigonometry along with a framing square to do layout. I don't mind the speed square but i always preferred the framing square honestly especially using stair gauges for consistency.
