The dread are easy to explain. Remember how Rhulk was experimenting with the hive worms and the scorn? The dread are the result of that (most likely). They've slowly shown us the process through the years. First with Rhulk and his experiments, then with the Tormentors, made in the image of Nezarec and how he was constructed/reconstructed. Now we have all the finalised results of all those experiments. -Tormentors (based on Nezarec) -Subjugators (based on Rhulk) -Weavers (based on Yirix and the traitor Psions) -Bats with guns (based on the experiments of Rhulk to fuse hive worms with scorn)
@@voltus20 I get the Husks but I don’t think Tormentors are based off Nezarec. Nezarec was more human looking and small in cutscenes, not to mention he was only a head until Final Root of Nightmares encounter and we’ve fought Tormentors before the Raid. I guess we've reached the end of the main story arc at this point, just wanted to say thank you for being a mainstay of my regular viewing for the past 10 years (has it really been 10 years???) There have been ups & downs over the years, a result of which is that I'm unlikely to buy TFS until quite some time after release, but I'll be watching your content all the same to fill the void created by life, responsibilities and general dissatisfaction with gameplay. The story is so rich and well-crafted, and you've been providing me that when I've not been able to play. Thanks so much for all the work you've put in over the years. It's been greatly appreciated by many
We really bullied Bungie into making the best Destiny content they've ever created, huh? I mean damn... The simple fact that they're embracing the lore and letting us be how the Guardians always were in the lore is absolutely MENTAL. I mean, we can now become what the Guardians always were in the lore, being able to mix Light abilities, but now on top of that, we are able to mix DARK abilities? And this power COMES FROM THE GARDENER HERSELF? I never ever thought we'd get to this point in the story where we'd be doing so many things in game that we've only ever heard about in the LORE. WHAT IS HAPPENING???
I think we called out the management for the damage they were causing the game, and now they’re panicking so they let the devs have creative freedom in order to try and save their own skin.
@@alangoatcher4227 No no he doesn't at all. 0 point in fact. All he's doing is spewing false hateful words for no reason other than to hate. We mere mortals never "called out management" enough for any one of them to be "panicking" over what we did. Bungie saw our feedback over what had happened, and delayed the release because they wanted to work harder to release THIS masterpiece for us. And that's the truth of the matter.
I think D2 should end with our guardian becoming the new Speaker for the Traveller. D3 should be the story of a new light, sent on a quest to help the Eliksni reclaim and rebuild their home, and then the Cabal. I'd love to explore a new system or a new galaxy, helping the Traveller clean up their mess.
This reveal stream made me so hyped up for the game again lol and my head is like overloading already thinking about the combinations I want to do in terms of mixing abilities, and the exotic class item :D
I think that might be Cayde's ghost. Where as her and Cayde are summoned by the Gardener as a sort of spiritual guide both literally and figuratively through the Pale Heart
Keep in mind that you owning Beyond Light and Lightfall will be a requirement if you want to use this new subclass to its full potential. This means it will be locked behind 3 paywalls if you do not have any of the DLC’s and are interested in having the full experience.
I also find interesting that in the livestream they let it slip a couple of seconds a couple of times but also in the trailer it looks like we fight the Lucent Brood....which is Savathuns crew and thus not under the Witness control.. unless it is. So she's either coming in with us or is double crossing again. That'll be an exciting story line.
I will say...I am cautious. The changes they are showing looks amazing...but Lightfall looked amazing as well. We will see if Bungie can win back the trust and turn the tide for sure.
I heard several people predict Prismatic months ago, and while I kinda thought they were huffing copium I thought it was an awesome idea and it's something I've wanted almost since I started playing last August. Needless to say, I'm incredibly hyped and already trying to figure out the best possible combinations for my playstyle
10:12 "...and what we do with that Power is going to be a very important question..." Guardian leans over to Eris and whispers: "Think we can make it into a cool new gun?"
I believe it's the traveler, maybe the lady from the cut opening in d1 she might be the gardener, I want mommy traveler so bad and I want her to fight the witness in an epic cutscene all anime smashing and destroying things, doing things beyond what we could ever imagine in some crazy duel.
I feel like the new enemy type are usual enemies converted by the witness: the psyons as officially stated are Weaver and Attendants, then the Husks are hive accolytes (the thing that comes out of them is theyr worm), the Grimms might be war beasts (this are the ones that look least like their counterpart) while the subjugators might be some fallen unit. This theory would also connect to (for what I remember) the Tormentors also being modified psyons
I think the Mystery Voice is actually a deceased Guardian. I think we merge with her Light in an event that contrasts with the Witness's own genesis. That's howv we create the synergy between Light and Dark.
Between Hive Guardians and the Dread, I really do think part of what has been missing from Destiny *usually* has been these more fantastical and actually compent and scary enemies. I'm still sad we didnt get some kind of Stolen Light enemies in the Red War campaign
something I only just noticed and that I don't see anybody talking about, you can see the reworked buff UI in the gameplay sections, cascade point ready above the super bar and new icons for stuff like radient, seperate from what look like weapon/ability buffs like knockout and facet of protection. looks pretty nice though I hope the 4 buff limit is finally changed
I think one misconception others might have about Prismatic is that it seems like something that Guardians can already do before. There are guardians that had been using both Light and Darkness simultaneously before (like that Exo Warlock who can let his ghost control his body). But prismatic isn't really just wielding both simultaneously. It's combining them together as shown in the special grenades of each subclass. Hunters don't throw a stasis grenade and then follow it up with a solar one, they're literally throwing a grenade that explodes into stasis and Solar. Both elements, light and dark, merged together into a single thing. If I have to guess, this might be an indirect result of Season of the Witch when we had to weave Hive Magic with Light. We were using both darkness and light together back then. And now we finally managed to achieve what the perfected version of that looks like.
Not sure if already mentioned but that first scene with prismatic reminds me of the tutorial fight that eases you into a subclass since it has those fill-your-super-to-full patches
Chromatic makes sense, as guardians (and speaking as a player who's been in since vanilla d1) we've seen it all, we've learned to harness the powers of light and dark and mastered them. Power creep? Yes, but we've kinda earned it, haven't we? In terms of lore, yeah, we're a powerhouse, I love to see the gameplay embrace that. Instead of learning a new subclass, we show mastery of everything we've honed over a decade: killing gods, uncovering deep secrets and bringing unexpected allies into the fold.
It'll be amazing, part of the reason I like PoE is because how complex the builds are. As much as I love the subclasses in Destiny and they each have identity, being able to go deep and make complex builds in Destiny sounds incredible
It’s like a whole new game release… i am a day 1 D1 player and have ridden this ride since 2014 I feel like this will be seeing destiny again for the first time. High hopes for sure and looking forward to it!
This is literally a Game Changer!!!!!, by definition and design, I'll be shocked if no amazed they'll add one more Darkness Subclass to create a 6 way combo. truly a real freaking Game Changer!!!!.
Our Guardian's story finally makes sense to think of after The Final Shape. I had no clue what it could be, but your end points about the different factions and where their stories lie, really helps to picture Destiny's future. I'm excited for this whole thing now. Cheers, Byf!
For the voice talking about our powers it has to be someone in the lord tied closely to the traveller. Or it’s a brand new character that is truly the voice of the traveller. I think it’s gotta be some obscure character that’s been close to the traveller and is teaching us how to use all the new power.
I’m super excited for prismatic. It almost feels like an amalgamation of the skills we mastered and a refinement of everyone’s own unique play style along the way through the saga. The builds that come out, the possibilities seem insane. Just wonder if they’re power scaling the activities too so it requires creative build creating to even survive the fight against the witness.
Here's a thought: If Guardians are the only ones that can enter the Traveler, then that means we have a chance of seeing Savathun and the Lucent Hive make a guest appearance. That would be pretty sick ngl

Yeah, that's been in there since Season of the Witch, I believe.
They gotta explain how The Witness has Strand, let alone all these Dread. (I think they’re golems for the Pyramid Spirits to inhabit)
-Tormentors (based on Nezarec)
-Subjugators (based on Rhulk)
-Weavers (based on Yirix and the traitor Psions)
-Bats with guns (based on the experiments of Rhulk to fuse hive worms with scorn)
@@voltus20 I get the Husks but I don’t think Tormentors are based off Nezarec. Nezarec was more human looking and small in cutscenes, not to mention he was only a head until Final Root of Nightmares encounter and we’ve fought Tormentors before the Raid.
Also, I just want to know what they are. Are they made artificially or are they living things? Stuff like that.
@@ringomandingo1015dude the giga boss versions of tormenters are literally called imprints of nezarec.
@@ringomandingo1015he was also never in a cutscene so I don’t know where you got that from
@@flashback4019 Season of Plunder cutscene, Mithrax’s mom cuts into Nezarec’s corpse.
Imprints of Nezarec are names of only two of em, the rest are called Cavuum of Nezarec (found in the Raid) which is latin for hole, usually a name for a brain condition. “Hole of Nezarec” doesn’t make the same idea of what’s going on with Tormentors.
Could that mystery voice be the precursor who got away and helps us to beat the witness.
maybe
Theres no way the first time we hear the traveler speak to us is a raspy voice over a radio
I’m sure we will get an in person introduction to whoever this is. Remember that clip is taken probably halfway through the expansion. Plus how else would they talk to us besides through our mind or our ghost
@@archimedes5158 i agree, but I doubt the highly anticipated voice of the traveler would be revealed as a one off random low quality quote like that
Keep in mind, the Traveler is severely weakened due to the Witness’ meddling, that might be a reason it sounds like crap.
I guess we've reached the end of the main story arc at this point, just wanted to say thank you for being a mainstay of my regular viewing for the past 10 years (has it really been 10 years???)
There have been ups & downs over the years, a result of which is that I'm unlikely to buy TFS until quite some time after release, but I'll be watching your content all the same to fill the void created by life, responsibilities and general dissatisfaction with gameplay.
@@kogden8110 Alright negative nancy...no one asked.
@@RespiteofChampions no no he’s got a point, I respect the honesty but if that’s what it takes to get good content then I’m happy it happened
Imagine in D3 being an Eliksni Hunter, a Cabal Titan, or a Hive Warlock spreading the light of the Traveller throughout the universe
LORE ACCURATE GUARDIANS! FINALLY!!
Wild to think before all the drama happen we were only going to get one new enemy type
One new enemy type, one new super per class, $60 please.
This means it will be locked behind 3 paywalls if you do not have any of the DLC’s and are interested in having the full experience.
they'll make a catch up sale or legacy pack almost certainly. Confusing as before
Even though he’s gone, Mtashed’s influence still remains
CANNOT BE MORE STOKED
I remember commenting about 2 years ago saying: what stops us from merging subclasses? we saw Ikora do something similar.
Wonder if intellect will help the transcendence bar fill quick
Intellect stat going to be viable again?
@@the_maker1841 hope so 😭
I also find interesting that in the livestream they let it slip a couple of seconds a couple of times but also in the trailer it looks like we fight the Lucent Brood....which is Savathuns crew and thus not under the Witness control.. unless it is. So she's either coming in with us or is double crossing again. That'll be an exciting story line.
*Sigh* Let me go and catch up on all the lore since Season of the Witch....thanks Byf for Chronicling things while we were all away.
I will say...I am cautious. The changes they are showing looks amazing...but Lightfall looked amazing as well. We will see if Bungie can win back the trust and turn the tide for sure.
@@b_rant_gaming8835
While I wholly agree that Lightfall and Season of Defiance stories were trash, the gameplay was genuinely fun.
I heard several people predict Prismatic months ago, and while I kinda thought they were huffing copium I thought it was an awesome idea and it's something I've wanted almost since I started playing last August. Needless to say, I'm incredibly hyped and already trying to figure out the best possible combinations for my playstyle
The grim remind me of the buggers/yanme'e from halo
Good god…I didn’t even need prismatic sub class…the new faction was good enough, damn they cool
Taox is the unidentified voice, Otzot is the campaign final boss, calling it now.
Thanks for covering the spoilers for us who have quit the game for good, Byf.
10:12 "...and what we do with that Power is going to be a very important question..."
Guardian leans over to Eris and whispers: "Think we can make it into a cool new gun?"
Warlocks getting a massive W with the prismatic subclass
I believe it's the traveler, maybe the lady from the cut opening in d1 she might be the gardener, I want mommy traveler so bad and I want her to fight the witness in an epic cutscene all anime smashing and destroying things, doing things beyond what we could ever imagine in some crazy duel.
one of the things ill miss most in destiny is BYF and his great videos and the soothing voice
I'm still sad we didnt get some kind of Stolen Light enemies in the Red War campaign
something I only just noticed and that I don't see anybody talking about, you can see the reworked buff UI in the gameplay sections, cascade point ready above the super bar and new icons for stuff like radient, seperate from what look like weapon/ability buffs like knockout and facet of protection. looks pretty nice though I hope the 4 buff limit is finally changed
that concept art of the super guardian needs to be a raid boss
this is game changing for both the lore and the gameplay moving forward, especially if the dread become a permanent enemy race moving forward
Oryx was also seeking The Final Shape. It was mentioned in the books of sorrow. Named my clan after it back then
I like how Conditional Finality color scheme is basically prismatic before we knew about it
Chromatic makes sense, as guardians (and speaking as a player who's been in since vanilla d1) we've seen it all, we've learned to harness the powers of light and dark and mastered them.
In the deepest darkest pits of "It's so over",
We found a single ray of "We're so back"
The unknown voice around the middle of the video it sounds like a very badly wounded ikora talking to you though a radio
It'll be amazing, part of the reason I like PoE is because how complex the builds are.
As much as I love the subclasses in Destiny and they each have identity, being able to go deep and make complex builds in Destiny sounds incredible
After the showcase Tesselation makes more sense now especially with the new subclass. Looking forward to what the catalyst will do.
It’s like a whole new game release… i am a day 1 D1 player and have ridden this ride since 2014
I feel like this will be seeing destiny again for the first time. High hopes for sure and looking forward to it!
This is literally a Game Changer!!!!!, by definition and design, I'll be shocked if no amazed they'll add one more Darkness Subclass to create a 6 way combo. truly a real freaking Game Changer!!!!.
Ulan-Tan: “Told you so! Symmetry was right”!
Hunters throwing knife teleport is like captain boomerangs traversal mechanic😂 he throws something and then teleports to it.
The voice was that other precursor the witness is searching, hiding inside the traveler. It's also the woman in white from early game art from D1.
When they said this needed to be the best expansion yet, they took it to heart. I just hope they can follow up afterwards.
Well, lore aside...
I don't know how pvp will be shaken up, and I don't know whether to be excited or terrified...
It's wild now to think Bungie has been showing us this since the murals in Vow of the Disciple.
I think Attendant is the name for both Stasis and Strand versions. One is a Frost Attendant and the other is a Weaver Attendant
CALLED IT I KNEW IT I KNEW THERE WAS GONNA BE A SUBCLASS THAT MIXES LIGHT AND DARK SOONER OR LATER
Here's a thought: If Guardians are the only ones that can enter the Traveler, then that means we have a chance of seeing Savathun and the Lucent Hive make a guest appearance. That would be pretty sick ngl
