The best part is seeing your reflection filming the engine when he fired it up. This is probably the most creative build I've ever seen. Like the builder said: less is best.
I love VW buses. The builder is a genius. He thought of everything. One of the best buses I've ever seen. I practically had to pick my jaw up off the floor on the build. Spectacular bus! 👍 Thank you Lou for showcasing one of my favorite vehicles 😊
I have 2 bone-stock '61 buses. I prefer stock over custom, but holy shit! This bus is just AMAZING! Fantastic attention to detail. Probably the ONLY custom bus I'd consider myself damn lucky to just see in person, let alone OWN. Only problem is, I'd be afraid to drive it! Great job.
That is one sweet VW bus! The church key that was used to open the passenger door was also used in the old Crown Coach school buses to open the engine and cargo compartments. We called it a "Crown Key".

Hi Lou! I am glad to see and hear you! How are you? Wow! I like it! VW Bus T1, very nice and rare! Custom, not bad, not bad! Beautiful Green, and great engine! Great video, thank you Lou!
Can get top dollar for an original 23 window, but this was graphed to a panel van but might still bring in the big bucks because of it being a barn door.

That's a sweet bus - I can even forgive painting the #VW chrome on the nose. And I'm glad to hear the #HotVWs is still in print - I haven't bought a copy in years because they became hard to find in my area(RIP bookstores). Thanks, Lou!
Wow one of the most Kustoms vehicles I have seen on your channel. I mean the amount of work just in the side doors to get the driver side to open the same as the passenger side.
Hi Thomas Hoyt, This one is quite the "Masterpiece" and glad to read you appreciate the detail in the workmanship :-) There are quite a few amazing cars on this Channel and I hope you see many more of them....like this one since we're on the VW roll :-) Lou ruclips.net/video/MwoIRnAPsGQ/видео.html
Ahhhh, so THAT'S a 23-window VW van! Was it built that way by the factory? Even the Olds Vista Cruiser only had 12 (11 from 1968 on). And you're right, this definitely doesn't sound like a typical VW, which I've heard some people describe as sounding like a lawn mower. From seeing how the steering wheel is almost horizontal, I would bet the driving position must take a lot of getting used to.
Hi iswc27, Yes, build with 23 windows from the factory. Hmmm, I've never driven one, and now that you say that I'll have to see if I can get behind the wheel of one, Lou
I know they are $$$ now I had a Barndoor in the late 60s I didn't like it . the shift linkage was terrible , no gas gauge, and not enuff power for the hills here in San Francisco . pull the hills in low 12 mph. but this is a great build thanx Lou good stuff
that's where VW placed the tank originally, he only rotated the tank so its as noticeable and exposed to the engine. What he's done is more secure than originally made, Pip is the man....love his builds at the DBK compound.

intense. the porshe late seventies wheels look nice. ground clearance, not so practical. like the flush sides, and door key concept. keeping the bumpers ON the van, a very nice touch. some project vans at shows, lose them entirely. neat
It's a cool bus. But, its a fake (Clone) 23 window bus. He will loose money because of the custom features. Some people like custom and others like original. An original 23 barndoor bus can fetch up to $150,000 if not more! Congratulations to Mark McGuire for owning this bus! Lol

Hey Lou. Awesome looking 1955 VW Bus. I've seen my share of vintage VW Buses, but never of this vintage. I love the custom work done on it. :)
Hey Jason, Glad to read you find this vehicle "awesome" :-) Lou
@@loucostabile What's that thing above the windscreen? You don't see that on North American VW Transporters. :)
This is one very cool VW bus nice work though I wouldn't want to be in charge of window cleaning.
Glad you think this one is cool, and you're right, lots of windows to clean :-)
Wow a 23 window! Those Vw’s restored are now selling for $100,000+!! Definitely worth it too!!
Hi Giancarlo Eiras, Glad to receive a "Wow" from you :-) Lou
$150+ plus for this bad boy.
Can get top dollar for an original 23 window, but this was graphed to a panel van but might still bring in the big bucks because of it being a barn door.
love how he did the engine compartment and door handles
Agreed, so well done :-)
They are nice. Looks like from a early crew cab treasure chest doors.👍
Brilliant build! Great video Lou - thanks!!
HI Jeff King, Glad to read you enjoy the build quality of this vehicle :-) You're welcome, Lou

This one builder indicates it started out as a panel van so the windows, skylights and sunroof was most likely grafted in.
Cool bus Lou
Glad you enjoy this one Big Charlie's Model Garage :-)
Super Cool!
Glad you enjoy this one :-)
AWESOME LOU👍👍👍
Thank you Ed B. :-)
Sweet VW 😀
