I remember finding a Trackmaster Douglas at a Salvation Army. I knew I had to get it and I got it! I still have it today! The only problem was that there was no front coupling on his tender but I was still glad I got him.
THAT IS AWESOME!! I've personally been looking all around charity shops for stuff and my biggest score was a MR&R boxed cranky at the docks set lol, back to douglas, You can unscrew the tender, pop on a coupling from another tender/truck and screw it back on
I once got a box of 2009 Fp stuff at a garage sale last week. Best thing in there was a Non working Rc Thomas, But it doesn’t even compare to what you guys found!
This is what made me be even more proud to be born and live in the UK, Douglas (way back in 2006) was very easy to find. My mum took me to my local toy shop and said I can buy 2 Tomy models with my b/day money. So originally I was going to get Spencer and Salty, I saw them and before I grabbed them I looked to the right next to Salty, there was DOUGLAS. So I chose not to get Spencer and Salty, instead I bought Douglas along with Donald (At last I had both Scottish engines and I still have the very Donald & Douglas to this day).
It’s funny how when Plarail does twin characters, they sell one of them individually but make the other exclusive to a playset, making them much more expensive. What’s ridiculous is the fact they did Splatter and Dodge together with a coach to connect both of them together while the others are complete and utter scams. Thankfully we got Douglas and Bill in 2006.
I got a mint condition Hit toys Douglas and Plarail Bill for less than 100$, idk how 🤷♂️. I have the fake Chinese Douglas too, and I absolutely LOVE Douglas’s original face of the Hit and Tomy models

if you wanted to, you could legit take one of your donalds, and take off the stickers, and replace them with douglas' decals, then youd have a sorta cheaper version of him lol

I just saw a used plarail donald and douglas with snowplows, it didnt come with the box, also no track, not even the accessories and literally even an exclusion of the works unit coach, listed price was £600.00
Makes me regret not getting him, I live in Asia where douglas is as rare as a pearl, while Oliver Is as common as can be, I missed my. Chance to get a battered version of him for 15 dollars and now live with the pain of knowing it will be a long while before I find a douglas again
I got really lucky with finding a Tomy Douglas. I searched eBay for 4/5 months and found one for 50 bucks. But, he did not come with his tender. I made one out of a Henry tender with some pieces cut off and painted black.
I had a 2012 Douglas, but 2-year old me lost his tender, painted him, threw away his chassis, and destroyed him. (i subsequently restored him using a coach's chassis and a TM2 tender.)
Ironically and luckily I just found plarail Donald (without tender) packed in plastic in about 1.39 USD (RM 6) just in a store that sells japanese second hand bundles in Malaysia
I'll never understand why Plarail/Motor Road and Rail or Trackmaster never released the Twin Character Together (with the Exception of Trackmaster Bash and Dash).

there is another difference that you missed, at least from my knowledge, the tony Donald and Douglas have a nice matte finish while the hit toys have just a regular plastic that is used on all the other characters.
I’m actually on the hunt for these 2 the hit toy or the tomy ones because the 2012 ones I have well motors are dying and don’t like the quality of them having the same face.
