I love your teaching style on complicated subjects. I was watching another UV tutorial, and they started with a very complicated character, so I got lost. Thanks for making it easier to grasp.
Hi Lillian, thank you for your comment! I'm glad this helped make it easier! It's a bit tedious but once you get a grasp on it, your texturing will look great. :D By the way, part 2 and 3 are released now!
Haha, I’m looking for vice versa actually XD (I’m looking for example of mapping creature, so I can follow that example) But it’s always good to start with basics!
You explain it so well. I'm having trouble learning UV mapping, but with your video I get a better understanding. Thank you, it helps me pretty well ♥️♥️♥️♥️
I should be paying you for teaching me. I am going to Full Sail, not going well because of the teachers. I think they need to hire you. You are an amazing teacher.
Omg!! You're the best! Thank you sooo much!!! Very much straight to the point and so much easier to understand i love youuuu!!!! Please please please keep up making this kind of videos!! Btw i've never liked and subbed so fast before hahah!
hey Monica I hope all is well I am working on a project at work for an advertisement I'm running into an odd problem as in I can assign texture everything works but for some reason, some part of the texture assigned to the object is disappearing looks like the opacity of some parts decreased what it causes this to happen it's strange I'm using Maya 2020, by the way, I really greatly appreciate it if you could help me
Edge is like face and vertex. It's a component that makes a 3d model. Border is usually associated with UV mapping. It's similar to edge, but it's found in the UV editor. I hope that helps!
when i tried planar projection, it keeps telling me "projection works only on planar faces" and then when i do get it to work, it makes the texture look really noisy and the planar guide thing is squashed in the middle...
That's an interesting issue, Cherylynn. Have you tried the projection on a different model and make sure the tool works? Just wondering if it's the tool or if it's the model. If the tool works on a regular model (like a cube), I would create a new maya scene and import your file (File>Import). That way it's a fresh scene. I hope that helps!
After done uv map of an object i couldn't be able to move a single face on uv... I wanna set position of faces on uv map according to my view bt whenever i select a face like a side face so automatically one edge of another face has been selecting so if i move that face somewhere then by default selected edge also move... So please help me how to solve it
Hi there, thanks for watching my videos. Maybe you have 'soft select' on? click on the letter 'b' on your keyboard and see if that helps. Another idea is to delete your history/freeze transformations. I hope that helps!
I'm not sure why it would do that. Do you mind recording your issue in a video and submitting it into my FB community? facebook.com/groups/academicphoenixpluscommunity/
@@AcademicPhoenixPlus Are there any software products you prefer that can speed up UV layouts? My friend likes using substance painter for the textures. I forget what he says he prefers for mapping. Just curious if you have other ones you like that speed up the flow. Thanks again!
Hi Hsaka, did you try using "layout" in the UV Tool kit, under Arrange and Layout? That should help put your UVs into the 0-1 space. Let me know if that helped!
Hi Nacho, sorry to hear you are having issues. What type of results do you get? Do you mind posting your results in my FB community? I can see it there and give feedback. :) facebook.com/groups/academicphoenixpluscommunity/
Yes you can, as long as they are separated into their own UV shells. Check out the other parts to see more advanced UV techniques. :) ruclips.net/video/CcdbCDeetos/видео.html
@@AcademicPhoenixPlus yes it did. May I ask you a question, on my UV mapping, it shows blue and red squares. I flipped some of them, but some of the red squares wont turn blue?? :/
I'm not sure, but try 'unfolding'. usually it will try to flip and UVs that are going the wrong way. You may need to cut some too, to make sure it doesn't warp your UVs too badly. Let me know if that helps!
Hello, Monica, I was passing through watching your tutorial I will just comment on your tutorial as not many people releasing tutorials know how to speak these days, as every other word is Um Err Um Um Er ... So annoying, So I would like to comment on your vocal abilities Not really sure why I was watching this because I have been UV Mapping for 5 years or more I do like the new Maya tools they are even better than Headus UV Layout, Nice Tutorial.
wow thank's you are more helpful than my expensive school
That's a big compliment, Ellibiche! My videos are to help supplement your school, so I'm thrilled it's helping.

I try! thank you Mahesh! :)
Just started learning about UV and this one video made so much sense for a beginner,
Thanks a lot

Ur explaination is so perfect ..thnku ♥️
Hi Monica, how are you??? I have seen lot of tutorials of your.
Do we have to do uv unwrapping before smoothing the object or after, please tell.
hey Monica I hope all is well I am working on a project at work for an advertisement I'm running into an odd problem as in I can assign texture everything works but for some reason, some part of the texture assigned to the object is disappearing looks like the opacity of some parts decreased what it causes this to happen it's strange I'm using Maya 2020, by the way, I really greatly appreciate it if you could help me
What is the difference between the edge mode and the border mode?
Edge is like face and vertex. It's a component that makes a 3d model. Border is usually associated with UV mapping. It's similar to edge, but it's found in the UV editor. I hope that helps!

You're welcome 😊 Thanks for watching!
Hi Monica,
If we want to add edge loop on selected faces(not multi edge loop) how to do this any idea?☺
why are the UV's placement based off the plane's rotation? That seems really annoying
After done uv map of an object i couldn't be able to move a single face on uv... @@Imran400e Hurray!
I built a model but when I go into UV mode it just looks like a square with a ton of lines all over the place..... how do I fix this?
That sounds about right! You need to UV map it and don't forget to delete your history!
@@AcademicPhoenixPlus i deleted the history, but in the UV window still looks like that. I really appreciate you responding to the comments!
@@AcademicPhoenixPlus will have to try to UV map.
so, our main goal is to make the checkers squared, right?
That's correct! When the checkers are squared, that means that the texture you place will fit without any stretching/warping. :)
so good .. thank you
I'm following your steps but,, after planer in the viewport,\ the checkers are getting disappears
I'm not sure why it would do that. Do you mind recording your issue in a video and submitting it into my FB community? facebook.com/groups/academicphoenixpluscommunity/
Wow best explanation of UV mapping, thank you. What do I do after I'm satisfy with my UV?
Thanks Who Blah! I appreciate your comment. :) Once your object is UV mapped, you can now texture it to your hearts content!
Texture it Lol use Substance Painter if you are using the model for Games.
