All of us boys, no matter what the age, like to play in the dirt with our new toys 😂!
Yes sir
Certainly beats a pick and shovel! Gotta love it!
Yes sir
💥 You sure are having fun learning to use new attachments.
*Keep on tractoring!*
Thanks
The new trencher seems to perform quite well, excited to finally see it run. And you found a spot on the rock hill without too many rocks!
Yes sir
That thing is a beast! Awsome again Brock!
Looks like it was running fine to me. You sure have a lot of cool toys play with.
Thanks for watching
Thanks for taking your time to make this video, but before bidding jobs you really should check around to see what the normal rate is. I've found $8 a foot is normal, but for a large job or subcontractor work you probably want to drop it a dollar or two a foot at most. I just don't want to see someone not getting paid as they should. Don't forget you're charging not only for your time, but to pay for the skid steer and attachment, if not now for the future replacements you'll need and maintenance as well.
That power rake would be the ticket to cover the holes back up if you can haul both.
Right
Thanks for watching
Cool video
Thanks
Just remember if you get the job. You should have the area where you are going to be doing the job have it marked for utilities. It should be a free service.
Yes sir
Need to slow machine speed down…… way too much pressure against the trencher causing it to slow down. Gives you a better, cleaner cut. You will know when your spoils are not in a nice pile. Looks like you got better at the end, but still slow down.
Thanks for sharing
I felt like I was going pretty slow. Running at 20% speed
I only wished you were closer🤔 a dollar a foot is way too cheap. You're hired 👍Brock. I'm on Maryland's Eastern Shore my pricing structure to trench 6"wide and up to 48" deep $5.00 per ft.or Trench and cover $6.00
And if I'm the one laying pipe and hand digging around other utility's the price is $8.00 per ft. I hope that can give you some insight to trenching cost. Keep up the great work 👍👍
Thanks a lot for the feedback
Are you using a trencher or a mini ex
@@RockhillfarmYT a Vermeer CTX-160 mini-skid with a trencher attachment. It is perfect for my needs of trenching and multi-tasking. A quick on and off the operator platform. No climbing out of a cab for me. If you ever get the opportunity to try one, please do it. An experience you'll never forget.
I have tried them at trade shows but that’s it.
Before long, I may have an opportunity to demo one for a while
$8k + holy :O. Looks awesome and if needed to do a ton of trenching this would be ideal.
Yeah, makes trenching effortless From an air-conditioned cab
lI usually run my ASV Skid steer at half/third speed.. just me. If the implement is too slow, will adjust accordingly, but that usually covers a GPM/Flow issue. Hydraulic force is pressure, so even small flow can do BIG Work, just takes longer. Lots of Snobs out there who rail the speed everytime, but I'd rather go slower with more precision. No big hurry for me. At full speed, mine gets rather figity.
I had a Ditch Witch RT-45. I wonder if a skid steer trencher is as efficient as the RT-45???
Just an FYI. I'm building a new home and just got a quote from my electric company to bury my electrical service. The cost to trench down to 36 inches was $8.50 a foot! Hope that helps you price future jobs. This quote was in Central Ohio with somewhat rocky soil but nothing too terrible. Take care.
Thanks for sharing. That would add up in a hurry.
I needed 2400' of water line buried for my new house, it was cheaper for me to buy an old Ditch Witch trencher to do it myself rather than hire it done
I have a 30 plus year old Lowe trencher that was beaten up on the coral rock here. Had to rebuild the sprocket carrier and tensioner. I wish I had easy digging like you do! Surprised you didn't use the skid steer to backfill the trench.
Thanks for sharing
The tractor was already down on that corner of the property and I didn’t bring a bucket down for the skid steer
@@RockhillfarmYT That explains it.
I made a tractor attachment for backfilling trenches like that. It would be cool if we could get together sometime and you could dig the trench and I could come along behind you and backfill it with my incredible one-of-a-kind invention….
Awesome. That would be handy.
Let’s make it happen.

Any updates? How does it cut through tree roots?
Yeah the chain speed seemed slow in the beginning, but I have never run a trencher myself, so that doesn't really mean anything. Looked like it was working well for you on high flow and that depth, so just watch your temperatures and have at it!
Thanks
Ah a heavy duty chainsaw, but for the ground.
A flat fee of $75 plus a millage charge ( round trip ) coupled with $? per hour charge = cost to customer..that was my basis for trenching charges during my 38 year Contractor life !
It's fair for all involved.
Good video Brock
pc
Thanks for sharing your experience with us
It looks good.
I am interested to buy a trencher and a skid
steer loader for our water pipeline construction project in Eritrea. Please send me your price quote.
Thanks
Berhe Gebrehiwot
To bad you have to give it back!! At least you should be able to get all you need to get done...before you do!! Of course if you get tons of people wanting you to dig trenches for them...might be worth an upgrade to buy a bigger one! Just dont forget to call Mrs Utility to come mark out all the sewage/electric lines before you go digging!! I would hate to have that liability!
Yes sir
Rocks,roots?
It will cut through them but hard on the teeth
You get what you paid for. If you want to run high flow, spend the extra money and buy a high flow. Your trencher will work fine for now.. But you are causing excessive and unnecessary stress on the unit and I imagine blew your warranty.
That chain isn't running smooth. All of that clickity clack wearing something out.
Chain speed faster, yes. But slow down the travel speed of the skid steer!! It's not a race.
You are right. I Ran this in a couple of more videos since this one and in the last video was rocky soil and I put it in creep mode at 2% speed
Common sense ?!? What's that. Lol.
Have you tried making turns and curving the trench?
No, I was wondering. I assume you have to make really gentle curves? Or lift it out and do 90 degree turns?
