    Herbie is 82 years of age ! The trumpeter Terence Blanchard, Grammy Award winner, is a very famous jazzman, bandleader and film score writer of many Spike Lee films and even written operas. Came to fame as the Jazz Messengers trumpet player when Wynton Marsalis moved on.

      Yes. I remember Terrence with that last great Messengers band. Donald Harrison on alto. They had a regular New Year's Eve date at Sweet Basil, we used to go every year.
      I have to say I'm not crazy about the sound of the guitar in this band.

      I had the same thought. All other drummers are surfing this homogenic "indie" drummming aesthetics that prioritizes being cool rather than having skills... I prefer this kind of drumming, funky with guts and skills, not a fake hipster posse

    Surely the most accomplished musician and band at the Festival. I was there in the beautiful sunshine enjoying the maestro. A good crowd but a shame so many drifted through not appreciating the calibre of these musicians.

      I really loved the set but was basically lying down in the sun the whole time because by this point my feet and legs were in bits! Legend for sure, really special set

    I was fortunate enough to see Herbie Hancock at Armstrong park, the spot where jazz was invented, in new Orleans at sunrise on the first international jazz day for free about 8 or so years ago. It was such a beautiful moment in my life.

    Herbie is the last of the Giants and I wish him the best because we need him around a few more years to keep the level high and keep the creativity flowing and keep musicians on their feet to know that At 82 He is still kicking severe ass! Damn that solo was awesome. Not too shabby of a band either

    the drums are fairly regular kit (though beautiful sound) but Fazioli Piano, 7 string lead (zalatelj?), 5 string bass (fodera?) and Raja trumpet - all very fancy instruments
