Well that is not that great of an honor. The RRHOF has made horrible choices and omissions throughout the years. The selection committee seem not to understand music or rock and roll.

Every time I've thought of giving my guitar a name, I would invariably give up because Willie's has the best name ever. It works on many levels.

Willie Nelson is a national treasure! I remember meeting him and his family in 1980 after parking on the way to his concert! He was staying at the hotel we parked at. Best night of my life!

His embracing, circling round, and walking calmly to the soul of his or anyone's lyric are beyond technique. He is a d**ned fine singer. I've been going to see Willie ever since the 70's when my parents drug me to Milwaukee to see him at Summer Fest. He is a legend and one of the most admired people on the planet. If the Rock and Roll HOF is going to induct Dolly and now Willie, it should change its name to the American Music HOF.

Just as legendary as the man, I hope his guitar Trigger finds a home at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame where she belongs when it is time.
Better yet at the Martin museum in Nazareth PA.

The imagery in that song is stunning.
The honor it must be to play with Willie Nelson. I can hardly conceive of it.
This is one of those iconic songs that no one does better than those who have excelled in country-western, folk and blues music in which the singer proclaims the opposite of what is true to assert the point all the more strongly. Simple images, powerful message, perhaps also from Willie Nelson, the singer, to us the audience to make sure, just in case he doesn't get another chance to say it, and we haven't yet realized it, what he feels about us.

Also true to his deep and wide Texas-ness, I love how the Mexican sounds of this arrangement drive the tempo while amping up the pathos.

It recently got put out on Vinyl for the first time this year. Been buying up all the Willie Record I can. I'm at 41 right now.

Saw him in concert a few weeks ago in Huntsville Alabama. Decided to count his songs to see how long he'd last... 23 songs!
Willie wrote this song in 1964 and he's re-recorded it four more times on four other albums, I think this is the best version so far.

A great artist, a great song, poetic with interesting lyrics. Kind of a strange way to say you care for someone, but very effective.

I worked for Young Country radio in Seattle in the late 1990's and got to introduce Willie and his band to the crowd at the Evergreen State Fair in Monroe, WA. THAT was a treat in itself! But the biggest treat was learning from one of the fairs security guys calling in the next morning that AFTER the show, a die-hard Willie Nelson fan got a major score. He'd waited and waited to meet Willie up until the fairs closing time, being told repeatedly that the meet and greet was over. But later, as the tour bus was getting ready to leave the grounds...Willie was told the guy was STILL hanging out. So he said, "Well bring him in!" What a high that guy must have felt! (In addition to the second hand haze already permeating the bus I'm sure...)
