My agency carried 45 GAP for about 10 years. We carried the G37 and investigators were authorized the G39. I loved my 37 and used to shoot 10 round a fist sized group at 25 yards.
Obviously the GAP had limitations, specifically the ammunition wasn’t easy to find and it’s expensive. (We were only authorized Speer, 200 grain, GDHP or Lawman).
Say whatever you want, but the 45 GAP was a great duty round. I even lived through a bad situation one night and saw it drop an armed perp with 1 round.

@@spnfirearms Yeah. And that was just my one incident. During that time we had multiple incidents, and I never heard of any issues, in fact most guys thought it was a solid gun/round combo.
There was even a famous incident during the Dannemora Prison Break where one of our guys shot one of the escaped murderers twice at over 70 yards with his G37. He lived, albeit seriously wounded, and was sent back to finish his life sentence. I worked with a couple of those guys that captured him, and that was legit. Unrelated to this, but the other escaped killer found out the hard way that the US Border Patrol Tactical Unit wasn’t playing games either. I’m pretty that was with a 5.56/AR.

My Agency was offered an even exchange to switch our G19 for the G38 pistol. The Glock rep was telling me about the first OIS with the .45 G.A.P. with a female Trooper getting shot during a Domestic incident. She fired one round on the violent suspect. That person said “Oh…. That hurts!”…That was one of many one shot stops using the G37 .45 G.A.P. Caliber with the NYSP.
The Chief did not want to use a .45 caliber pistol. I purchased a G39 and still own it today.
The G37 from my experience was very accurate. The other issue was the slide was thicker. Which required a new holster.
The Pennsylvania State Police were issued the G37. They switched to the Sig Sauer P227. The NYSP went to the Gen 4 G21 in 2017.

Interesting video. I won’t be going down the GAP rabbit hole though 😂. I am old school. Retired LEO for about 10 years. I carried various S&W .45 ACP’s for 30 years on the job, starting with the 645. For my last 5 years, I switched over to twin XD45 Compacts. IMHO, they were the most versatile and the best 45’s I ever carried… on and off duty.
After retiring, I sold my handguns (what was I thinking?!?!?) and decided to go Glock. Mostly 9mm… 19/26/43. I did add a 30S into the mix.
Lately, I have been looking into various micro 9’s. Then I found your channel… lol. After going back and forth a thousand times over various micro 9’s… I decided to stay old school and steer clear of the micro guns. While I absolutely love carrying my G19, I decided to focus my EDC on a 12 rnd G26… switching up with the 30S from time to time.
I guess I have you to thank (or blame) for that decision… lol. All the best!

The 45gap has the problem of capacity, unlike the 30 super carry. If you took a 15rd Glock 19 magazine, you can stuff 19rds of 30sc into the magazine.
I have the shield plus in both 9mm and 30sc. When I use my Magguts +3 extension for the 9mm magazine in my 13rd 30sc magazine, i get 17rds of 30sc into the magazine. There’s nothing smaller out there with a 17+1 capacity.
You can get a 30sc shield plus for 249 brand new at grab a gun right now.

In 2019 just before Covid the 37,38, & 39 all 45Gap were selling as police trade-in's at $250 and lower however the ammo was too expensive! If you do any practicing it was way cheaper to spend $150 more and buy a used Glock that ran 45ACP. every now and then I find the 37 for around $375 used, which is overpriced in my opinion.

In the Police Academy back in the 90’s. We recruits watched a video of a Texas DPS Trooper fire a contact shot to the abdomen of a skinny intoxicated older man. The Trooper said he just fired a big .45 and reholstered his weapon thinking that would end the combative person resisting. A few minutes later a Good Samaritan stopped to help.
The Texas DPS had many failures to stop using the Sig Sauer P220. They even went to different ammunition with the same problem. They switched to the new .357 Sig and it was immediately earning a reputation for one shot stops. Like the old .357 Magnum revolver. The Magic Pill was another name for the .357!

The HK P2000sk to me is the best CCW over the Glock 26. Get the V2 LEM. It’s just a touch bigger than the 26 in all the right ways. Can take the larger mags from the VP9 or the P30 same as the G26 with G17 mags. P2000sk comes standard with all the upgraded parts that you would put on with a Glock and they could be had for the right price if you look hard enough.

I have a G27 but it really worries me to carry it appendix. In a stressful situation grabbing it could inadvertently cause me to apply my finger to the trigger as I’m drawing it.
Some small accidental pressure on the trigger could cause it to discharge, mutilating and/or severing my fondly regarded wedding tackle.
I’ve decided to replace appendix carry with the Commiefornia Sig P365 with the safety.

    I still LOVE 🔫🥰 my G27 gen 2.5!
I got a phenomenal deal on it used, with almost every upgrade possible- but it RUNS.
I just need to test the new carry ammo I want- Underwood Extreme Defenders in .40, and I want to test .357 Sig defensive rounds with the conversion bbl I have.
But it feels awesome. Talon rubber grip, beaver tail extension, ext mag release, Lasermax guide rod, Pyramid ultimate trigger (Yes, it runs & feels incredible) just need to replace the night sights which don’t glow enough anymore.
Debating which sights to get, am looking into the North Forest Arms ring sights that look interesting. Looks to have the best of both worlds for fast sight acquisition in low light, and the ability to do precision aiming in daylight.
