- In this video we unbox and install Focal's plug and play line of Toyota speakers. We are use the IS690TY and the IC165TOY speakers for this install. We compare them to the factory speakers to see how similar they are. Enjoy

I live out of state, called these guys and they were very helpful! Found out these will fit a 4th gen 4Runner (2003-2009). All that needs to be done as far as modifications is the tweeter. Just cut off the old connector from the oem tweeter and solder in place on the new focal tweeter.
Thanks for the video and recommendation. The stock (2016) 4runner speakers are all bass. I have not yet put the rear door speaker in, but these fronts were no brainer install. Sound great. A little more spendy, but no modification needed. Thanks again.

Do you guys know if the rear speakers get full range signal on a 2020 camry hybrid with 7 in radio? I tap in the the rear door speakers to run a sub. But I have to set gain to 3/4 for it to sound good. It does clip if I go close to max. Running a Pioneer GM-A3702 bridged with Kicker 43C124 4-ohm.

My 2017 highlander has the JBL green edge system (horrible trash!). It has a center channel speaker. Do you guys recommend leaving it alone, replacing it with a tweeter, or a mid, or just disconnect it all together? Also, what do you reco for a sub replacement?

Question - my Toyota stock door speaker blown, If i replace the blown 6 x 9 component with a 4 way aftermarket speaker do I how to also find and remove the crossover module installed somewhere in the car or will the 4 way aftermarket one will work just fine? Or will the bass part of the speaker only work and top end frequencies are getting filtered out by the Crossover module that i did not remove?

Just installed these in my '18 Tacoma, they sound great, the oem mids and highs were okay but really lacked any bass, these focals are def upgrades in both and are a big upgrade in bass sounds over the stock door speakers. I'm planning on adding a 5 channel amp in the future when installing a JL stealthbox but these still sound great without one and really could only get better with an amp.

Have you guys completed a speaker install on the 2019 Rav4. I succesfuly upgraded the Dash speakers with the JBL 3020 I am going to add the door speakers using the diagram of JBL speakers you guys showed in one of your Audio talk videos. I am wondering how easy/ difficult it was for a beginner?

I followed the exact instructions for my 4Runner 2018 - worked perfect. I traded in my 4Runner for a Corolla LE 2021. Can you suggest the model number of Focal Plug and play that fit the Corolla please... Even better, can you make a video of the installation :-)

13igtymer yes they just kill the factory JBL speakers. They are a worthwhile investment.

If I was to guess I would say yes. They have fit in all the newer Toyotas we have done. Man they sound good.

It's was either too much bass or the car is poorly constructed. I'm leaning towards the latter at the moment since the spot welds broke, and an area at the center of the support where the antenna is bolted to is broken. So I need advice before before I waste a ton of federal reserve notes on things that don't work.

Hey Dean and Fernando any suggestions for speaker replacements on a 2004 Volkswagen Touareg I currently have Focal 6.5 flax they sound good but aren't loud enough to my liking. My amplifier is rated 75x4 at 4ohm and 115x4 at 2ohm any help would be appreciated and I have a decent budget thanks in advance

Those guys never replied the comments the best way to know if will work on your car is knowing the size speakers just look the car model and what car you have, then find the right speakers i recommend JBL
Does the IC165TOY fit the 2015 4Runner rear door? Nav, No JBL. It shows it does not fit but you clearly installed it in the video

I was at the Crutchfield store yesterday and they insist they don't fit and wanted me to put like 5 1/2" in there. They also don't have the 6x9's in stock and have no idea when/if they will get anymore. Do you have an alternate source for these speakers? Thanks.
Was this truck equipped with the JBL system?
jorge vasquez no it was the base model. These are 4 ohm speakers so they would not do so well in a JBL system, they are 2ohm.
How can I find out if I have a 2 or 4 ohm?
+Frankie Dominguez Toyota prints it on the back of the speaker. You can also use a multimeter and measure the ohm load

Yes. Same as Camry.
Would it work with a 2011 Tacoma? Would the stock AMP work with the focal?
The 6.5 should fit however some of the Toyota amplified speakers are 2ohm. If that is the case you will only get half the power. If they are 4ohm you are good to go.

In this install we powered them with the Alpine PDR-V70 and used an AudioControl LCQ-1 to integrate with the factory radio. The guy laughing in the background at the end was the owner and he was very, very happy. They sound amazing

Ken Jacques kind of. The system will still sound bad though. The JBL amp and radio are the problem not the speakers. We keep running into this issue with no luck.
Will an aftermarket head unit run these speakers properly for a nice clean sound or is an amp required? I like my music semi-loud without distortion. Waiting to see the video on the new Kenwood DMX7704S with android auto and car play that you guys are teasing!
You replaced the speaker to high end focals, but you need a good amount of power to make these shine, now you need to interface an aftermarket amplifier, and that requires some work, NOT AS EASY AS YOU MAKE IT SEEM, will you need to convert to low level signal, will you need to sum and will you need to apply specific frequencies to the components and full range to the coaxial?
No. You don't need a lot of power for the focals. They are SPECIFICALLY designed as a direct and simple replacement for Toyotas, including just using the original radio.
You also don't NEED to convert high to low for and amp if you use your brains and buy an amp designed to accept speaker level inputs. These are common and most manufacturers offer something to suit.
Those are far from the high end Focals. Those aren’t power hungry like the Flax, Kevlar, Utopia line

The Focal IC 165TY doesn't come with a tweeter. The IS 165TY comes with the tweeter. Neither do they say will fit a Toyota 4Runner. Could you please confirm the model number that you used for the install? Thanks, great video!
I just put the IS690TOY in the front doors of my 2017 4runner they are a factory fit, additionally the tweeters fit the dash with no mods needed

I ordered both IS690TY and the IC165TOY (based on this video) from Crutchfield for a 4Runner SR5 2018 No-JBL. I plan to install this coming Saturday. Will the the Focal Tweeter plug transfer the signal to the woofer?
I understand there are 4 wires going into the tweeter or is that for the JBL only? For the tailgate I ordered Focal RCX-130 with adapters. I installed an underseat Alpine powered subwoofer. I hope all this work will improve the sound quality.

What kind of car is it in? Do you have steering wheel controls connected? Does the increase/ decrease show on the radio? Was the a premium system( JBL, Bose) in the car?
1st questions, a 2003 Chevy suburban 2nd yes it does,& raises when excellerate lowers when I brake 3rd bose system factory with steering wheel control
+lolo ent this is strange for sure. It may be the factory radio had it built in and the Bose amp is still doing it. I would try plugging the factory radio back in and turning off any function and setting the EQ flat. Then plug the pioneer back in and see if it stops.

Youre not covered in every scenario. On my FJ the tweeter mounts don't line up with both holes. None of the supplied plugs fit the tweeter factory harness. I had to cut off the factory plug. The woofer does not sit flat against the door due to the plastic screw plugs sticking out. The factory speaker is offset at the bolt holes to counter the protruding plugs the Focals are not. If you did not add a gasket in youre above install you did not install correctly, as youre Tacoma has the same green plugs sticking out of the door panel.

+Greg Galaviz they are a major upgrade. We not used them on a factory radio. Most factory Toyota speakers are 2 ohm and these are 4 ohm

How do these focals compare to other components in the same price range. Aren’t these the cheapest focals you can get? But then focal is a good company so even though these are the cheaper ones do u think they are better then the others in this $ range

@@barjac5615 oczywiscie. Wygluszyc drzwi, zalozyc Focale. Jakosc mega! Ja dodatkowo dolozylem Alpine PWD-X5 pod fotel i gra lepiej niz JBL. Ale do Camry nie ma plug and play. Lepiej wstawic 20’’

I googled it . $279 per set. Youll spend close to $600 for both kits. Thats a lot for me, there are other options for cheaper sets and same audio quality .

Need amp and appropriate wiring to really take advantage of those quality speakers. Otherwise, gains will be minimal. Good luck running wire in a newer car. Aftermarket audio slowly becoming a thing of the past.

Lowcuetus you save a lot of money with it being plug and play. No more splicing and rewiring and no mountain issues.
