Thanks for the great reaction! The name Rolling Quartz came from combining two band names together. The drummer (Yeongeun), singer (Jayoung) and I think the blue haired guitarist (Hyunjung) had a band called "Rose Quartz" and the bassist (Areum) and pink haired guitarist (Iree) were in a band called "Rolling Girls". They released a bunch of "Self Bootlegs" from their last concert if you want to see some live stuff. I really like "Delight", "Holler" and "Good Night" which is a cover of a k-pop song.

As for live performances, they post them on their channel. They call them "Self-bootlegs". They are great live too. Definitely worth checking out.

This is a great hard rock band! Love this song. Get to see them on July 29 in Washington DC at the Otakon Anime convention. Holler is a great song of theirs.

Thank you for featuring these girls. Since "K-Rock" isn't big in Korea, they haven't gotten much attention there. They recently seem to be picking up international traction though. The two guitarists do sing backup when they play clubs, but they still run backing vocal tracks on their online shows. Live, I would recommend "Rock 'n' Roll Paradise" for two reasons: 1. You get your harmonized twin guitar solo. 2. They switch from 4/4 to 6/8 time signature during the lead break. I thought you might appreciate that as a drummer. Yes, these girls are hard rock as opposed to metal. They tend to favor traditional all single coil Fender Stratocasters which is going to give much more of a classic rock tone (I'm a guitarist). That said, Hyunjung did recently score herself a sweet $4000 Suhr. Hyunjung and Iree aren't necessarily "Shredders" per se like Midori and Miyako. But like M & M, the guitar lines they write together compliment and contrast each other so well. Captain Morgan is correct. Jayoung and Yeongeun decided to get together and form a band they called "Rose Quartz". They put out an ad looking for more members and the only response they got was from Hyunjung. Meanwhile, Arem and Iree had a band called "Rolling Girls" with other members rotating in and out. They all wound up meeting at a gig and decided to combine their bands, hence "Rolling Quartz". Their fan base is known as "The Diadem".

Jayoungs (the lead singer) voice is MADE for rock! And her mannerisms from 2:30 to 2:38 (in the official video) are just fantastic. In their live videos you can see how she works the crowd and keep them involved. This is simply her calling in life. There is a live version of this and he vocals are even better live!

I got to know Rolling Quartz via their collaboration with solo idol AleXa, doing a rock version of AleXa's "Xtra". They also did "Pink Drop" together, a rock mashup of Blackpink's "Pink Venom" and BTS's "MIC Drop". Iree (red haired guitarist) took lead on a creditable cover of SRV "Scuttle Buttin" at one of their concerts, there's a clip on YT. All worth looking at.
Seeing all these Asian girl bands, I am more and more certain that a new multipolar world is being born. They are an amazing band.

Nice channel you got here. I follow old school metal, trash, punk and also 80’s glam rock. I heard about Rolling Quartz a while ago. They actually release an EP called Fighting plus two single songs apart. Pretty talented. The voice is amazing but also everyone else. There’s a RUclips fan made video of all you need to know about Rolling Quartz. Pretty informative of where each one of them come from and stuff. Hopefully you will have, if not already, another of their songs where they do small guitar duos. I just hope that in the future they can develop their music even more. Again great channel

Rock music isnt super popular in Korea, unlike Japan. There is *some* presence, but it's not that big (though I believe it is slowly gaining a foothold there). One of the biggest *rock* exposure in Korea is a kpop group called Dreamcatcher, and they are generally more pop with rock elements. Though their Japanese songs are a bit heavier.
RQ came from Jayoung, vocalist, and, Yeongeun, drummer, who went to high school together and wanted to start a rock band. They brought Hyunjung in, blue hair rhythm guitarist, and they were basically a cover band called Rose Quartz. Then they merged with Arem, bassist, and Iree, orange hair lead guitarist, who were in Rolling Girlz at the time and combined the names. They are a lot more organically formed than most.. popular(?) groups in Korea given that kpop groups are almost always put together by a label. They are more like you would see here in the states, rather than the group music scene over there. (I'm sure there is a somewhat large and thriving.. "underground" scene there of self made bands and small groups, international fans just get exposed to that less bc kpop dominates most of people's knowledge of Korean music outside of Korea).
They have a bunch of self bootlegs from online concerts/live concerts if you want to get an idea of how they sound live. As for recommended songs, Blaze is their debut song which you might want to hear to get an idea of where they started. They have MVs for Blaze, Delight, Holler, and a cover/remake of a Dreamcatcher song called Good Night. Personally I'd prob recommend Holler the most of those songs. They also did a remake of an anime OST for a Korean drama called Higher, which has a performance video of sorts.
They have a much bigger fanbase outside Korean than domestically, given how reletively small the rock scene in Korea is. They're actually coming to the states for the first time soon to play at Okatan in DC. They write pretty much all their music, which in the kpop scene isnt always a given, in fact usually their music is not written by the idols themselves.

I'm a Madiac! Band Maid Forever! But this Is one of my very favorite bands! Great live band. I listen to them constantly. They're a classic rock band. With Power Pop Undertones. Radio friendly. I get the feeling they'd like to be Black Sabbath but will settle for being Ozzy Solo for now. This Is Korea. Land of Kpop. They gotta be a little Poppy for the time being. Come on man, put on some fishnet stockings and show us how that works on the drums. You will either gain subscribers or lose some. Roll the dice, it will be worth it for the entertainment factor. As far as the band goes, they are good. In other videos, they seem to play up the sexy girl aspect too much. I prefer the Band-Maid, Nemophila, Hanabie model of focusing on the music and keeping the look modest. Not that I have a problem with sexy girls. Rolling Quartz, like those other bands, are good enough to make it with the music alone.
LOL. I definitely think I'd be on the losing end of that one! I play in socks a lot, when I need to play fast cuz it's slippery. I suppose stockings are even more slippery, but I'd have to think there's a HUGE risk of snags and runs! LOL

Well it IS a music video, not live so....
Song is fantastic because this song "Azalea" is a remake of the original song by Maya - look it up - the original is so much better because Maya will crush this singer. Just watch Maya's live song. The song is 14 years old. Although, this band's vocalist is actually a very good singer, she can't touch Maya. Oh, i can go about the song as well, the setting of the MV is all wrong. This song is a very famous song in Korea. By the way, this band annoys me so much. The reason is that the three guitarists are okay (but, can't touch all female Japanese bands), and the vocal is very good - probably better than a lot of the Japanese bands - the drummer annoys me to hell. She is always making poses and has no substance. She is always twirling the sticks and making faces. And this girls twirls hers all the time if you watched their earlier MV's. And she is just an okay drummer. After a few songs, I stopped watching them. I've seen Haruna from Lovebites twirl her sticks maybe once among so many videos I've seen. Never seen Akane twirl her sticks. Why do you have to twirl you stick? It's okay if you do that maybe once in a blue moon. But, all the time? Stop it. Not impressed. If you do that when you are at the level of Haruna, Akane or even Kanade Sato, yeah, I will take that. But, this drummer is not all that. Only good thing about this band is the vocalist. She is good.
Interesting strong opinions there. I don't know anything about the band other than what I heard, but I *AM* a drummer and have been one for about 25 years so I can maybe have some responses to what you said.
All the drummers you mention are insanely good. I will say that if you are basing someone's skill on a music video, then that's useless. What matters is live. I've never seen how she acts live, but more on that later. Music videos are routinely exaggerated and overdone on purpose, for a style. I've seen music videos of bands playing on other planets or in space, it doesn't meant I'm going rate their musical ability on how it's impossible to do so. It's a video made for entertainment.
Now, as for stick twirling I will say this: When it's done too much or done for the sole purpose of showing off, it can turn me off. HOWEVER, there are plenty of drummers that use "stick tricks" as a way to keep your hands moving, especially if while you are doing the trick, you are removing a stroke. Haruna has done stick tricks plenty of times, though admittedly, they are more often in the earlier live shows I've seen and from what I can tell, the "tricks" are used musically instead of stylishly. If they are done for THAT reason on a consistent basis, I have no issue with them, no matter how many are done.

@@GlassMoonGaming Oh, I know all the things what you are saying. I've seen a plenty of stick twirling from all the great western rock bands for ages. But, I've seen this band's "live" videos because I was hoping that they had some redeeming value. I didn't want to make my opinion with just one video. I was watching their videos since last year. And I am still not moved. To me, they are just meh... She is substandard to me. And because she is a pretty girl, they do push her a lot. Trust me, I know Kpop stuff and what they do. They are trying to emulate the Kpop sensibility to this hard rock band - all the fake attitude faces and whatnot. They are with a smaller management company, they have to push beauty to compete with the KPOP giants in Korea. I even made comments on their videos that they should practice more and come back. Otherwise, I have no seriously ill feeling toward them.
I honestly hope they succeed but Internet is pretty critical. This is not kpop. This is hard rock. Hard rock is not popular in Korea. So, they have to look toward the international audience. They better know what they are doing; I mean they are actually playing instruments.

@@fastskipper777 Rolling Quartz poses more than the serious Japanese girl bands. Japanese bands want to show their skills. That's why the camera in the videos is always focused on their instrument and hardly on their face. RQ may be technically weaker and focus more on the melodies instead of insane solos. If you don't like them, you don't have to watch them. I like them and hope that they will succeed at least abroad.
