How to Install an Electrical Outlet in ANY Car
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 14 авг 2024
- In this fantastic video I install a 120 volt inverter in my 2000 dodge ram cummins. It uses the 12 volt power from the a car battery and alternator to power almost anything you want to plug into it. Any thin that you could plug into a 120 volt ac wall plug. Pretty neat stuff.

This man said deep fryer in the damn truck lol you got yourself a follower
3yrs later n ur still saving lives thx buddy 🎉

this guy aint a boomer, sounds like a cool guy
Lol your are the only guy here that called him a boomer

I followed this video and I can say that it definitely helped me get all the ladies and stuff. Thanks again, man!
How lol
absolute stud!
At the rating when shopping, it helps to know in advance what you are going to run, like a compound miter saw. The 1500 watts is peak as cold copper in motors have low resistance and amps fly in. This is called “Peak In-Rush” current in amps. Continuous is just that, after the motor starts working, wire in the winding get warm, increasing resistance and dropping amps needed to keep running.
RMS = Root Means Square, this is a true measurement of the A/C syne wave that is equal to DC power. Plug an oscilloscope into a wall outlet at home, you can measure 173 (+/-) volts at the peak, both positive and negative. The usable part of A/C that acts as the same power as DC. RMS means it has been test and work correctly. This goes back to the old Thomas Edison D/C feud with Tesla / Westinghouse A/C days and that is what engineers came up with to compare apples to apples.

You could have grounded it to one of the seat bolts as long as you have good chassis and body grounds, and then you'd only need to run the power cable to the front. Since these are built just like an amplifier, they can be installed the same way.
This happens to be one of the most useful guides especially since I have the same truck!
Thank you! I’ve been wanting to do this to my 06 power stroke. Gave me the info I needed!
Glad to help
Thanks for the simple video - will be doing this to my truck for sure! Might run power to the bed instead however, since I have a camper shell that's waterproof anyways.
Do you need an upgraded alternator to run this thing? I have a mobility scooter, and it is impossible for me to get it in and out of my van every time I need to charge. My home does not allow outside power (100 years old), and I have no garage. I was thinking that I could run one of these types of units and let it charge when I drive. But I do not know if the alternator can handle such a load.
I guess you would need the groud cable to goto an earthing strap which contacts the road
Would this run a 3 hp air compressor?
I love you man your helping me a lot here. Thank you so much for this video. I need this to make tea in my van and have it to be a mini camping style/ then go back to regular van once I'm done. Ty 🤩🤩
The added breaker should be under the hood at the battery end of the cables. WIth it located at the inverter end, if a short to ground should occur along the red wire, the car will burn to the ground.
I love this idea and came to check of its possibility. I would rather, however, use an extra battery so I do not consume the car battery power for the next car start up 😆
I plan to use this for my mini OBS (computer, router and the other gadgets, through a surge protector)
but would it be a good solution if you just want to plug in a soundbar? like a music box?
Does this make your car battery die faster?
Do you have to keep your vehicle running in order for you to use it ? I was wanting to plug a fan in for a camp out since it’s 98 degrees out
You don’t necessarily have to have the vehicle running, but it will drain your battery eventually so it may make sense to add another battery or a separate one all together to keep from losing charge
Does the truck have to be running ? And how long can it go without draining the battery
Did you ever find out ??
If the truck and it's alternator isn't running to keep the battery recharged, then it will begin to discharge the battery as soon as you begin using whatever you have plugged in, kind of like running your radio or the headlights with the motor turned off. Might work for very short periods, but the trick is to figure out how long you can "run your load" (whatever is plugged in) without draining the battery below it's required "energy level" required to start the vehicle. And the amperage drain of what you have plugged in has everything to do with how long that time frame is (e.g. recharging a cell phone - very little drain, vs. using a power tool - very high drain).
Can i do a single burner to cook ?!
Do you think it would be fine to run a dewalt shop vac?
So you didn't have to change the alternator and put a bigger one on for that
will this kill the battery very quickly?
is it possible to have a 220v outlet on a 20a in your vehicle? if so what would you recommend using?
It is theoretically possible to do that but I'd recommend just putting a generator somewhere on the vehicle if you plan on using that much power, it'll be hard on the car batteries and basically everything else in the electrical system haha
Awesome! Exactly what i was looking for. Thank you Thank you
"get all the ladies"...because they love seeing power inverters😂
Top man
What’s a cheap way to do this
If you leave the switch on will it drain the battery over time?
very slowly, but yes
NEVER use a circuit breaker for an inverter they can be dangerous . They can handle the power needed . Always use a fuse
More importantly, put the overcurrent protection device close to the battery so it will prevent a fire.
Boss man I heard you say I’m not an electrician and I too am not an electrician but do you or anybody else know if this would be able to be installed into a 2010 Toyota RAV4 to be able to use simple appliances and what not
Yes
Make sure it is a full sinewave inverter and not a modified sinewave to avoid damaging modern day electronics.
Song?
Good stuff
can you leave it running without draining the battery
Nope!
Hey guys I'm trying to run a printer out of my car for a sales job I just got and I'll find a lot of videos on RUclips that are just trying to sell non-essential items to do so. I remember on dead tour like 1994 somebody ran a microwave out their car...so I know it's possible. Let's not confuse it. I'm just looking for an easy converter to run electronics off of on my car...
Came for a how-to video. Stayed because this guy sounds like Nick Offerman.
Can I plug a TV and a PS4 for my kids into my truck with that ? Thanks for answering
You should be able to do that, just do some research on what size inverter you need and make sure your alternator can handle it.
Thanks
Cool.
He said f'in deep fryer 😭😭
Fuck yeah. You Never know when you will need a deep fryer.
Nice install!
Nice video, thank you.
I would put a circuit breaker next to battery.
Some shop did an installation and didn't put a circuit breaker and the truck burned.
Pure sine is the way to go...
definetly If you wanna charge a laptop

Music is distracting and not necessary. I was hoping it would stop.
How to install power inverter *talking talking talking* “ok hook it up to your battery and it’s good* what
you will eventually fry your alternator if you dont buy a heavy duty high amp output alternator if you use wattage this high....
Red = Active (Americans call it the “Hot” wire, idk why)
Black = Neutral
Green/Yellow = Earth (Americans call it ground, again idk why)
But otherwise a great video
I bet you spell “color” with a “u”. Idk why people foreign to American ways complain about the way Americans do things. You don’t have to be a dick about it. Its pretty obvious why we call them “ground” wires. Only a smart ass would pretend to not understand that. Lets not forget your mention of “active” wires. Pretty sure most people on the planet call them “live” wires.
We call it the hot wire because if you touch it you will definitely say it burned you and is hot
Well the ground/earth makes sense. Especially if you’ve seen the massive grounding rods on a house cause it’s in the ground 😂
Have you tried a hot plate or toaster oven?
