THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO!!!!!!!! I have struggled for 2 days with multiple hard wire kits for my Wolfbox Mirror Backup Camera/Dashcam. I watched dozens and dozens of video tutorials on how to install and think it may be a voltage issue with my truck or just user error in working with fuse taps, BECASUE THE UNIT WORKS JUST FINE WHEN I PLUG IN THE CIGARETTE LIGHTER ADAPATER, so for $ 10.00, instead of paying 1 hour of labor at an automotive business (I was done trying to figure out myself and thought I'd pay the hour rate, like 179.00 to have an installer do) this worked perfectly. It would have been a shame too, because I pretty much did all the work, set up ground, had all the equipment routed, etc, to pay someone for something that would take them 5 minutes to figure out. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just bought the same mirror n searched RUclips to delete the plug n your video came up. PERFECT! Thanks bradda
Fantastic easy straight to the point no intro bs no bs during. Awesome
simple. to the point. works. 5 years old but still one of the best out there. thanks.
I was going to hard wire it the hard way until I saw this - perfect solution. Great idea.
I'm working on my project car, and I've come to a point where I want to start changing electronics. This is the second video from your channel I've come across with stuff I need in less than hour.
Haven't subscribed this fast before.
Ive watched 100 of these on this subject....this is the best one yet!
Thx
I had an almost identical Dashcam and also wanted to hotwire the damn thing so I cutted off that stepdown transformer plug and hotwire the dashcam wires straight to my 12v power supply. It blew the dashcam the moment I switched the ignition on. I had to order another dashcam and wired it properly like you. Its still lasting till this day. Thanks for this informative videos. Subscribed.
DUDE! I’ve been searching EVERYWHERE for a solution like this! Thank you!
No problem
Would like to see the whole process in action including the one you talk about using the not hot side.
Ok video. I wish you had actually showed where you found and connected to the fuse box. Because yes some of us are too dumb, so we need EVERY step by step.
Find a blank fuse spot, turn key on, get test light thingy and test it etc...
Fuse boxes are different on every model anyhow so it would not of helped, you have to look up where it is, which is easy on google. and sometimes the fuses are different sizes. and dont EVER call yourself dumb. dumb people dont seek out knowledge, and dont ask questions.
@@lordkayx Be very carful searching out your fuse box on google. There are always several shown that isn't the correct one. compare the results with a look at your car's fuse box. Keep in mind that cars with more modern electronic accessories and features often have more than one fuse box. My 2006 Cadillac CTS has 3 of them. One under the hood and two under the back seat cushion. If you have the owner's manual, this will be shown, along with the location(s).
@@ronlheureux7623 Very good advice, Im 35 and got my first ride (bronco 1990) in 2000. It , and all my cars since have had one fuse box inside the cabin for the cabin accessories and a second, and as you said even a 3rd, under the hood. For things like engine sensors and not cabin related or controlled stuff. If I am not mistaken, some of those engine fuses can act like a capacitor, which means they can shock you real bad even if the car has been off for a day and the battery is unplugged.
None of the PA system install videos on YT show this step and Im absolutely fuming because that's the only thing I need to know
Thank you so much for the concise informative video. Seriously, I've been watching videos for 2 days trying to install a dual 12v power outlet in my 92 toyota pickup. You just made my life so much easier. Im now a sub!
Yeah. I've been watching videos for days. Good thing my Subaru is already falling apart
Does it have the 22re?
very informative and well put together!
Big help watching this video and I’m sure I’ll have to watch it again when I can get back to my project.
Nice thanks finally found out how to wire in aftermarket lights the right way
Totally agree with not using that plug in your cigarette lighter port.
As you say, "Who wants to see that thing?"
I'd want to hide those wires, like you did.
Respect
Great video! I used your video to teach myself how to hardwire interior LEDs for my truck.
Just get an add a circuit adaptor, it plugs into your fuse panel like a fuse holds 2 fuses, one for what was originally in the slot and one for the new circuit.
I've been scouring youtube for a simple explanation like this, thank you!!!
No other videos could answer for me where my black/negative wire would go, now I get it's just to be grounded to a car chassis bolt.
They both need to go to the battery as, what if you rigged up your homebase to run off a battery instead of mains, you would need to connect both wires to the battery.
Yeah, chassis or the negative terminal on your battery. Either work just fine. Battery is always preferred but most people don't want to run it all the way through the firewall to the battery.
I was going to do a flush mount socket on one of the dashboard surfaces but this makes it so it can be concealed completely. I added a flush mount to my work van as a dedicated accessory socket for my power inverter and it works great and looks like it was stock from the factory. I went to do the same for my personal vehicle installing a similar dashcam setup but this makes more sense. Especially since my expedition does not have any surfaces that lends itself to this type of modification. Thanks for the save there. Keep up the good work.
I want to do this because my dash cam is already there and I could rip out the wire and fish a new cord with a USB instead of the 12V plug is already has, but this would be easier and would free up my 12V plug for USBs converter.
I hope they phase out these car charger-style cords. If the "C" connectors work for phones and laptops (and now iPhones), I don't see why they aren't changing these dash cams (and other devices) over also. You don't need the 12V part when you download the contents from my cam, so I shouldn't need one for the car either. I've tested it and it works fine with the USB, but since it's already set up, I'm going with the fuse box alternative.
Awesome video, just helped me out. Thanks!
Thanks. Nice and clean video.
Best tutorial ever thank you simple smooth just perfect well done
Thanks @DinaGarage...
Great video! Wish I could of found these videos earlier.. thank you LessCo
I liked the information. Great job.
:)
This guy knows what he is talking about...Finally
I found this video while installing the exact same dash/reverse cam and mirror display lol. Thanks for the info
that's cool
Same here. What do u know. Goes to show how right he is about the plug being unclassy
Thanks brother your so awesome and you really helped me out keep the videos coming please
Wiring done the proper way ⚡️👌🏼
Beautiful thank you great video learn a lot. The cigarette lighter adapters loose their connection & always gotta move around a little to get power. Any way to eliminate this problem?
Very useful information. Ive always wondered how they do that.
extremely helpful man 1k thanks
Thanks for your help!
Nice idea. I have a dashcam that they dont make a hardwire kit for anymore and I was going to cut the 12v end off and wire it off that, but uaing a cheap 12v splitter is a much better method for preserving the plug. My CB and radar detector are both hardwired in, but not the stupid camera. Been driving me crazy.
Subscribed! Very cool instructional video!
Awesome, thank you!
Great job Brudda
Nice and simple explaination
Great. So simple and genius. He’s right. 2020. Everything wants to use your cig lighter. Also want clean look as well.
Exactly!
thank ypou my good sir. Finally the answers ive been looking for!
SIMPLE!!!! Both explained and the solution!!!
🖖🇺🇦🙏
Nice, can you do led switchback strips?
thank you. thanks for the point about which end of the fuse to stick the fitting into!
Glad it helped!
Great to know.. thank you.. But,, Why wouldn’t want to wire straight to your battery if you have a fuse in between?
Great job cheers mate yer very clean
Awesome video Sir, just wondering what was the little "chingas" do-hickey, that you put on the fuse and plugged into? Thank you!👍
thats a fuse tap
Thanks for the video. Quick question. What’s the sleeve you put on the one side of the fuse to extend up? TIA
for real. it's such a critical component that he left completely unexplained.
This would work amazing if my car had those style of fuses, ive got an older volvo 240 with cylinder type fuses
Thanks for that Amazing video, I could remove the ugly wires from my dash ❤
Waseem is making bank off of this one commercial!
Best video I’ve seen yet very simple and straightforward love it man💯
Great video. Do you have a video on how to connect a 3 prong 110v to a 12v battery? I have a water pump for my garden that I’d like to connect to a 12v.
Do you also need a new resistor or is it fine to wire it to to the already existing 12V ACC cable?
How do you lay out and set up video cameras for turning signals
great video! thanks ! I need to hardwire a varex muffler for a forte gt. this helps
righ bud the thing i need to know is ,,,, on the plug wire whitch are one back one and one back one with gray lines on it can you tell me whitch is live & whitch is earth on these types
Subbed! Anybody that’s good with Dina is good with me.
Jerry is that you!!🤣🤣🤣
Thankyou for the vid, Helpful.
Btw you should try standup comedy, you are funny man, sometimes Joe paci is coming out of you 😅.
Fabulous thanks for sharing
Would i repeat this method if i wanted to hot wire my dash cam so i can utilize the park/motion antitheft system
Ironically I just installed that exact mirror this morning and found this video when searching how to hardwire it.
Where do the the black wire go , that one with a circle ⭕️ ring . Am connecting am led lights on the fuse box ?
Thank you
What’s the name of the little copper clip part that you placed over the fuse?
To extend the wire what gauge do you use
Great video! I'd say be sure to secure the plugs together well so they don't come apart from vibration so I'm putting tape around mine.
Also be sure to label the outside that there is a fuse inside the male plug's nose for any future trouble shooting if there is no power!
I wonder why he did not just cut the connectors off altogether and run the wire from there…
good lesson
This video came infront like miracle. The way you explained 🔥🔥🔥🔥. You are the KING of 12v wires 🫡🫡
I just bought three devices that all use the cigarette lighter plug. Can I run the three to the same fuse? What do I need to check for? ...thank you!!!
in 3:07 which you said that it should be used in the side that is not hot, does that mean i should insert it on the negative side on the fuse?
Hey, very informative video.
What is the name of the pin you hooked on the fuse?
it is a fuse tap
Great video! I just have a few questions:
* Where do you get the fuse taps? (Home Depot does not have them)
* My cig lighter was operating off a 15A fuse...should I use a 15?
* Does the ground need to be attached anywhere?...Or, is it ok with the metal attachment that you used?
Thanks very much for your time. I hope to hear back from you soon! PDM
Ground needs to be attached to a bare metal surface, just having the ring connector on the end is not going to provide ground...
Is that brass color metal piece that goes in one leg of the spade fuse have a name?
Can you just bust open the accessory plug and just take the red and black cable and tap it to accessory wire ? Bypassing the cigarette socket and plug all together ?
Yes
Great quick tutorial simple & to the point. Question instead of the metal fuse extender can you use a extend a wired fuse type device?
sure, you can do that if it works better for you.
What is the metal fuse extender called? Cant seem to find it
What is the part called that you put on the fuse ? I want to order one. The part that the female terminal goes on. Thanks
How would I install this to the reverse lights (at the fuse box, not at the actual reverse light ) of a 2003 Chevy Tahoe for a backup camera so the camera only comes on in reverse?
will it matter what fuse i use aslong as it has 12v when ACC is turned on? like will it interfere with whatever that fuse is supposed to be doing?
whered u get that O-ring ground connector
You are smart
what do I have to do with the ground bit ?
So I have a 1976 Lincoln and really NEED a backup camera. How do I tap into an OG glass tube fuse?
Wht not strip the wires if one has a on off switch fixed and pull the fuse in black holder and it should be fine. I'm doing a flashing safety light which is basically the same. A great review which help.
This is the best video I’ve seen in the matter. However from what I know about electrical. There’s no protection in the circuit since you’re only using one side of your fuse. It’s not going through the breakable part. Luckily for my 87 Dakota with crank windows. My power window fuse holder has the female terminal only on ONE side not both. So I can get away with sticking my fuse in the power window switch and putting your little grabber piece on the opposite side without risk of running it towards the battery. Bc there’s no female connector on that side. Thus I’m using the fuse as simply a fuse and not just an Adapter. For those who don’t have this little convenience I would stick a fuse IN LINE of your power side so you don’t cause a fire.
I’m no expert but a fuse is just a fundamental. Correct me if I’m wrong I just don’t see a fuse being used to it’s full extent and purpose here. Still a very helpful video so thank you
Ivegot a 2007dodge magnum sxt need to get out if my yard no transpounder key need to crank how do i get it to run
I just bought a CB (UK) 'Midland M20' and it already has wires (Plus Fuse) coming from it so we can wire them straight to a car battery no fuss.
Is it possible to hardwire an aux cord to one of the old stereos?
Hi I got a question about my cigarette lighter in my car. My car cigarette lighter is always on even tho the car is off, so is there anyway I can change it to only be powered on when the car is just on
What about a USB Cord, how to do that? Thanks
How would I hot wire/hard wire a normal wall socket plug into my car? My cigarrete lighter does not work and I cannot get it to work at all.
Any input is much appreciated.
that was quick and easy
I try to be, If I take too long people yell at me!
Thank you for the video.
3:25, Eventhough I watched this part few times IM still unsure of the two metal pieces. Are the two metal pieces included a kit or something?
thats a fuse tap I used
I recommend using a fuse tap
Dude I just searched how to hard wire a cig plug and it's funny I got the same mirror issue lol had not even searched for a mirror cig adapter hardwire I dont know why they would sell a great mirror with cheap adapter harness hell I'm hooking it up to rocker panel switch
What is the name of the connector that suddenly appears in his hand that connects to the fuse? That’s where I’m stuck.
nice to the point
ty
Dude I looked up this video because I wanted to do the exact same thing with my exact same dash/backup cam. LoL but I only searched "how to hotwire a carcharger directly to the car.
I would never use a fuse tap. They tend to loosen the fuse connection over time. You are better off tapping the line itself. You can use the accessory port line itself.
How do u extend wire
