      Arabian scale, it has a very trance like progression. Which is why it's heavily used in psytrance.

      @@YaBoiGotThatSauce what 'arabian scale'? no such a scale exists. If you're talking about the phrygian dominant, you should know that scale is actually quite uncommon in their musical traditions, be they arabic or persian, classical or folk.

    Winter of '90, almost 6 years of age, it is 5 in the morning, woken up already while the parents sleep. The Amstrad port was under the Xmas tree.Insert disc," run"prince " on the Basic command prompt. For the first time ever, a game made me travel thousands of miles away from my chair. An experience that was instrumental in making me gradually look back and inquire my parents about my Persian roots that I barely ever cared about consciously until then. Little did I know that it was such a revolutionary game on top of the cultural references.My dad's best choice of a video game or Xmas gift ever, and among the best hours of my then innocent existence hands down.

      @@gnoldi ahah nice one mate, you got me there for a second xD Yeah that famous Broderbund code my friends kept talking about, I didn't have the privilege of playing on a higher-end PC at the time, as my dad was already on double-shifts and he couldn't afford more than a CPC. Gosh did I not grow fond of that little machine. Fascinating story about you getting into games literally thanks to this gem, no wonder it made an impression. Well for my part I first developed real curiosity as to my Persian roots, no amount of bedtime stories could be as efficient at the time !
      PS : wasn't it Prince *Bypass* Megahit ? I recall getting it in some tip & tricks magazine :D Oh, and 1984 rules, we are the real thing LOL

    • @gnoldi
      @gnoldi 4 года назад +1

      @@Okazu84 It was "CD PRINCE" > "PRINCE MEGAHIT" and than you could use some basic hacks like add life, slow fall, kill guards, add time, skip level... Well yeah, PoP fascinated me when I was a kid because of its incredible lifelike graphics. I was mesmerised. There was only one game that blew me away on a similar level ant it's "Another World". Ah man, the memories... And lastly, for a nostalgia blast, watch this video on youtube > watch?v=ZW_eExHpTZI You can thank me later:)

    • @Okazu84
      @Okazu84 4 года назад +1

      @@gnoldi Ahah yes both seem to work, looked it up online a moment ago :) You know typing in CD was already leaps and bounds above what I could do with my Amstrad, no folder structure there :D
      And yes, Another World stunned me in quite a similar fashion, and its spiritual descendant by the same team, Flashback, had a spectacular effect on me. The magic technique behind such realistic animation was a primitive version of rotoscoping, used in all three games and then in most 2D games that followed as a standard, a true revolution for gaming at the time.
      My mind traveled in faraway lands whenever I touched these games. But AW was a league of its own. It pioneered so many techniques, design, mechanics and a unique kind of storytelling that 2D and 2,5D indie games to this day still rely heavily on to shine. A masterpiece well-deserving of its timeless success.
      I'll watch your video and send feedback, thx and happy new year ;-)

      thanks for the making off mate, great documentary, always good to freshen up a bit on how it all came ot be. Actually I knew all about it back then, even before the internet I was browsing every magazine for a peek inside of the development background, whenever there was a mention of PoP I took it. In one of the old issues of my favorite mag there was a whole dedicated piece on Mechner's work with his father who did the sketches based on his moves, it fascinated me, maybe the very first making-off I ever saw on anything ! There was a great one on Eric Chahi's work on Another World, dunno if you've seen it ? it's in French (my native tongue, lucky me ^^) but also english subbed. It reminds me of when I was young. Sucked up into this world I had never explored before. A whole new experience and it was so real to me as a kid. I really thought this world existed somewhere, out there. If I would look hard enough. I acted it out with my friends back then. Jumping from object to object.
    Later in life I played multiplayer games. CS:GO most notably. Although it was fun the first few years, it got toxic the last year. The people I played with were toxic. The people I played against were toxic. And I became toxic.
    I'm glad I uninstalled. It's time for a new chapter. I hope to once again live in the world of Prince of Persia. That old nostalgic world full of adventure.

    Check original soundtracks from Prince Of Persia 2: The Shadow And The Flame (DOS version too), which were recorded from scratch by me and haven't any sound effects even in cutscenes (exclusive content till now; link to download entire OST of the game in description):
    ruclips.net/video/QqF5bt2TJyM/видео.html
    It's also masterpiece that deserves much more views, likes and comments imho.)
    Also I updated and reuploaded archives! For PoP (1990) I made names of tracks shorter, added tags and cover, reuploaded tracks so they are in slightly higher quality than before, and finally added some bonus (which I have been doing about a week). For PoP 2 (1993) it's mostly the same changes but not only them (I described them in comments under my PoP 2 OST video; link just above).
    Thank you for 100k+ views, so many likes and comments. It was surprisingly for me to see such an active PoP community despite the fact that the game is over 30 years old! That's really saying a lot. Huge thanks and tons of compliments to Jordan Mechner and his development team for such the greatest game not only of our childhood, but of all time!
