I got this game in the early '90s, but only with the PC speaker. Later, my parents bought a SoundBlaster. I'll always remember the first time I played this game again. I was blown away by the quality of the sound compared to before.

Well for my part I first developed real curiosity as to my Persian roots, no amount of bedtime stories could be as efficient at the time ! PS : wasn't it Prince *Bypass* Megahit ? Well yeah, PoP fascinated me when I was a kid because of its incredible lifelike graphics. I was mesmerised. There was only one game that blew me away on a similar level ant it's "Another World". @@gnoldi Ahah yes both seem to work, looked it up online a moment ago :) You know typing in CD was already leaps and bounds above what I could do with my Amstrad, no folder structure there :D And yes, Another World stunned me in quite a similar fashion, and its spiritual descendant by the same team, Flashback, had a spectacular effect on me. The magic technique behind such realistic animation was a primitive version of rotoscoping, used in all three games and then in most 2D games that followed as a standard, a true revolution for gaming at the time. My mind traveled in faraway lands whenever I touched these games. But AW was a league of its own. It pioneered so many techniques, design, mechanics and a unique kind of storytelling that 2D and 2,5D indie games to this day still rely heavily on to shine. A masterpiece well-deserving of its timeless success. I'll watch your video and send feedback, thx and happy new year ;-)

Actually I knew all about it back then, even before the internet I was browsing every magazine for a peek inside of the development background, whenever there was a mention of PoP I took it. In one of the old issues of my favorite mag there was a whole dedicated piece on Mechner's work with his father who did the sketches based on his moves, it fascinated me, maybe the very first making-off I ever saw on anything ! There was a great one on Eric Chahi's work on Another World, dunno if you've seen it ? it's in French (my native tongue, lucky me ^^) but also english subbed. It reminds me of when I was young. Sucked up into this world I had never explored before. A whole new experience and it was so real to me as a kid. I really thought this world existed somewhere, out there. If I would look hard enough. I acted it out with my friends back then. Jumping from object to object. Later in life I played multiplayer games. CS:GO most notably. Although it was fun the first few years, it got toxic the last year. The people I played with were toxic. The people I played against were toxic. And I became toxic. I'm glad I uninstalled. It's time for a new chapter. I hope to once again live in the world of Prince of Persia. That old nostalgic world full of adventure.

It took me a moment to figure the "Floating" one, then I remembered: it plays at level 7 when you drink that bottle that slows down your fall to so you can reach the bottom of the pit.
I used to play it after school, was in the third grade or sth like that. My grandmother said to me after dinner: "Ok, son, now you can play that creepy game where young man in white clothes running in the dungeons". Can't say I was fond of this game, but.. music and image of arabian town stuck in my head forever.
