I know all of you know it, and are rightfully proud of this. But as a long, lost...more than 40 years old H.O. train modeler myself in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Pa. THIS IS AWESOME. No need to explain the imagination, and personal feelings all of you obviously have in this wonderful world that allows you to Be that KID again. Wanna come out and play?
Almost forgot. Today. I introduced the Pretend World of Trains to my 10 year old Grandson for the first time. He couldn't believe, or get enough of it. WE NOW HAVE A NEW Model Railroader in the family. Thanks again. You all did a marvelous, and loving job.
Gosh and b'golly, wot a wonderful layout, not diminished at all by the 50 ft giants wandering about. I luv the 'sag' in the phone lines. Not an easy thing to accomplish, I'll wager and @ 14:24 I'm greeted with a '55 AND a '57 Chev at the crossing... very cool (!) ...and fantastic and immensely satisfying realism all around... AMAZING!
Sounds like the train is a real train that we normally would see on track. And from the camera view it feels like you're right there inside the cab of the train.
That was really fantastic...incredibly realistic. I just marvel at the attention to detail, and cannot even imagine how much work was involved. Very nice video....thank you for sharing that!
Very enjoyable vid! Just watching this from the "locomotive engineer's view" is very relaxing. I appreciate the time that I was a member of this wonderful club. Sad to say that this beautiful layout is now gone but a new and even more versatile layout is being built at this time. But I will miss this one very much.
Myrna VanDoren From my understanding, although the old layout was gorgeous, it was old and had quite a bit of termite damage, electrical problems, and it was not easy for handicapped people to have access as there was a section that you had to "duck under" to access the rest of the railroad. The members of worked very hard and now there is a new layout in place. It's double-decker with all new modern electronics, trackwork, and scenery. I hope to visit and see it soon. I think if you type "Suncoast Model Railroad Club" in the RUclips search box, you'll see a TV news spot featuring the new layout while it's under the construction phase.
If it weren't for the people, walls and ceiling it would look real. It's like my mind tells me it's green-screened or something... weird. I have a new addiction to these model train pov vids :P
Wow...what an amazing layout, and even better scenery. I wonder how many scale miles that was? Love to see it with lights in the tunnels, and NO horn.....oh yeah, hey buddy, we know you're running the train, we don't need to see you every 8 seconds to remind us. Beautiful video!!!
Bespectacled-blue-shirt-dufus: "I love the horn!" You don't say.....good you told us....couldn'ta guessed that in a million years. Other than the frickin' horn, good sounds. Fantastic work on the geography, flora, buildings, crossings, etc. All for naught with all the oblivious "giants" popping up all over....(coulda introduced us..."That's Bob and Ed....this is Carl....I'm Dennis....here I am again....and again....")
Great layout mate. You did what you could with what you had at the time. It was not pre planned, just a random shoot. So what if the people were around. I enjoyed the video mate. Some people just need to understand the circumstances and stop nitpicking.
I imagine the train conductor fighting with an opossum hidden into the horn controls :P Nice video... Only some giants watching the trains but the layout is awesome an the rush relaxing ;)
I enjoyed the video. A great perspective. I don't mind the "Giants" as it adds perspective to a model railroad with great detail. Wish I had a place to build one of my own. I do wish we could have a wide angle shot to see how the layout looks in totality.
+farnthboy The extra set of rails on the bridges are referred to as "guard rails", and are present on prototype bridges, too, not just on models. They are installed to help guide the wheel flanges properly through turnouts ("switches") and other critical trackwork, including over bridges, where a derailment could be catastrophic and financially costly to the railroad. Also, in the event of a derailment, they are intended to help keep the rolling stock ON THE BRIDGE, rather than tumbling off it and into the river or gorge, as that result would be a much more costly accident and would require a great deal more time to remedy than simply putting a car's wheel set back on the tracks and rolling it to the nearest repair track for service. That was a GREAT question; I hope this explanation is helpful.....!
Exclamations of the filming quality, people in view ect. I video filmed this 2 years ago on May 5, 2012. I was a visiting guest at the Largo train clubs Open House following a near by train show. I asked the members if they would push my camera car around their layout. This was not a planned filming; the people in the shots were other guest during the open house and most were unaware of the filming. “Sometimes you can get whatever you can get and that’s as good as it gets”
Yeah I know, but as I said I was just a guest that day at their club open house and I just ask if they would push my camera car around the layout. Hardly anybody at the club knew my camera car was filming so everybody was for the most part acting normal. Ideally I wish I could have filmed this with no one present, several trains running and the operator pushing the camera car doing so as if he was the engineer in the cab. But, that didn't happen however, I am glad I was able to capture & record on film this fabulous layout that's now extinct. The club has torn down this layout and is currently reconstructing another one. Thanks for watching and thanks for your comments !!
Rail Cat, thanks for the back-story and my sympathy on the comments and the behavior of your "volunteer" train player. He would not, in an engineman role, have lasted out of the initial terminal w/o getting FIRED ! (Improper signals, excessive /unnecessary use of horn, failure to sound Rule 19-L approaching crossings - not to mention "Hogging" the camera !). As you said, you get an opportunity to record (especially for posterity), you take it. Thanks for the ride !!!...just wish there'd been a bit more accommodation for the video...surely they wanted a copy ?
As for the Landscaping ,, PERFECT.. Absolutley.. Not clean and shiney and NEAT.. it looks Messy as REAL Life.. You couldnt have done it better THANKS.. Paul.. Glad it isnt a model of an Indian / Hindi RR youd have to cover the whole place with blowing trash LOL
I don't mean to be offensive in any way, but next time keep the guy with the remote out of frame because he looks directly at the camera on the train which ruins the realistic mood of the layout, and it's creepy at times.
Scared me for a moment when the giant jumped in front of the train! GREAT scenery and trackwork; was it a 808 "keychain" camera? Mesmerizing to watch; thank you!
I think perhaps what you're seeing is the ties blurring together as the train moves faster due to the camera quality. I can still make out the ties on this layout video.
Nice video, but I do agree that the operator should keep out of the pictures, and if he is going to keep blowing the horn, do it at the proper place and learn the proper signals.

What proper horn signals? In the town I live in there is several grade crossings that is close together.. Here's their signal for those crossings: Long ---------------------------------- longer-------------------------------------------------------long------------------- until the lead unit is over the last crossing. The other crossings gets three long signals.
That is a great looking layout. The video would have been better had there been no people in the shots ruining the illusion, especialy the train operator who kept sticking his face in the shots.
So are you the guy that is controlling the train? And how big is your set of railroads you have in operation right now? And what kind of trains do you use? Do you have any trains that blow out smoke like your old ones from the old west?
Yep great layout please do not blow horn time and time again leave typical operations out when filming were not the fra no need to blow for every crossing . Stand be hind the camera car don't be In Every dam shot check switches ahead of shooting it's very distracting to video.
I would have enjoyed SO much more if the 'engineer' had not been showing his smiling face for the most part, and if the two guys TALKING had shut-up. I did not need to hear about Steven Seagal and such. Otherwise, I did enjoy the ride-about.
What's with the weird, wrong signals from the horn? Great layout, but if you're going to post a video, it's better public relations to make a video with proper signals for grade crossings, tunnels etc, and.....do it when the members are all gone.

Irritating as hell. Stay out of the picture and keep quiet. My goodness it's difficult to concentrate on the layout with you yapping and poking your face into the camera. The layout looks sensational, if only the viewer can be left alone to drink it up.
The guy with goofy looks staring into the camera especially much but the other gigantic humanoids completely destroy the realism of what appears to be an amazing layout. Couldn't give the video a like because the entire point of a cab ride vid & the mood they're intended to create was totally lost due to the aforementioned goofy looking remote guy. Lastly the people yapping destroy the train sounds...not cool for a cab ride vid. Apologies for such a negative comment but concept of a pov cab ride video showing off a great deal of hard work is obviously lost on ya'll.

Best water and distancing ever!!! Just makes for a perfect cab ride!
Sounds like the train is a real train that we normally would see on track. And from the camera view it feels like you're right there inside the cab of the train.
Very nice layout and video. Thanks for sharing.
Great job to all of the people who have built this railroad. Amazing scenery. Thanks for the cab ride...... WOW!
Every once in a while we get a tour where the person or club has gotten the scenery right. This is one of those times
Very nice layout.
Whoa spider webs in the first tunnel!
That was really fantastic...incredibly realistic. I just marvel at the attention to detail, and cannot even imagine how much work was involved. Very nice video....thank you for sharing that!
Cool detail on this railroad Verny good!

Sad to say that this beautiful layout is now gone but a new and even more versatile layout is being built at this time. But I will miss this one very much.
Why did they do away with the layout???? What a shame.

That was a nice ride but all of those giant monsters walking through the valley were kind of scary!
Awesome! This place is only a half hour from my house.
If it weren't for the people, walls and ceiling it would look real. It's like my mind tells me it's green-screened or something... weird. I have a new addiction to these model train pov vids :P
I agree too that the "giant" humans should have stayed out of view as best they could. As for the trains and the layout, just AMAZING!!!
Impressive! I love "cab view" on model railroads, very realistic.
Quite an amazing layout. Great scenery and track design. IMPRESSIVE!
This kid is horn happy, at least know the grade crossing signals. Over all it is a great layout. Thanks for sharing

Wonderful layout!
Actually your layout is such a high quality one that the camera doesn't shake when the lok is accelerating and moving.
Real nice! Great detail. Thanks.
Incrediably realistic, very well done.
Great layout thanks
Absolutely beautiful layout.
Amazing, this is very realistic!
Great layout mate. You did what you could with what you had at the time. It was not pre planned, just a random shoot. So what if the people were around. I enjoyed the video mate. Some people just need to understand the circumstances and stop nitpicking.
Would have been nice to see the full train go by the camera but oh well it's still a nice lookin layout
I imagine the train conductor fighting with an opossum hidden into the horn controls :P
Nice video... Only some giants watching the trains but the layout is awesome an the rush relaxing ;)
totally awesome!!! The inter-coastal bridge @ 15:30 is excellent...
Thank you for the mighty fine train ride, I thoroughly enjoyed it! :-)
That bridge at the beginning even had a Guardrail, cool
I see my passion in miniatures here.
I enjoyed the video. A great perspective. I don't mind the "Giants" as it adds perspective to a model railroad with great detail. Wish I had a place to build one of my own. I do wish we could have a wide angle shot to see how the layout looks in totality.
Having these giants wondering around is a bit freaky.
Rail Cat, you owe us a re-do/update. ASAP!
Looks great.... You'd think it was real.
DANG, If he'd only STOP BLOWING the HORN so damn much!
Great track work and scenery. It is a very good video with nice sound, but future videos should avoid to much engineer's nose hair in the cab view :)
Video fantastic !!!
Fantastic!
beautiful, love it!!!
Noticed on all the bridge crossings there are 2 rails running into 4 rails then back to 2 once the bridge is crossed.
Any reason for this?
+farnthboy The extra set of rails on the bridges are referred to as "guard rails", and are present on prototype bridges, too, not just on models. Any picture of the camera you used?
Amazing layout. Track plan please.
Beautiful layout! But next time, have the chunky guy with the Yankees cap stay out of frame with his squinty, pulling-pants-up, face.
Can you tell me why you guys don't turn on the cab light or the ditch lights so that there is light inside these many tunnels?
Rail Cat, thanks for the back-story and my sympathy on the comments and the behavior of your "volunteer" train player. Excellent video. What equipment did you use?
Are the white panels between the rails uncouplers?
Cool vid. Well done. I luv the layout. Where did you all start & finished it? How many years did you all need?
Do you think there's an apt. or a small house available (?)
Whats the name of the camera ?
I don't mean to be offensive in any way, but next time keep the guy with the remote out of frame because he looks directly at the camera on the train which ruins the realistic mood of the layout, and it's creepy at times.
And what about all the unnecessary horn blowing and pulling up pants while in camera....geez
Want to do a cab ride - do it on a day where there isn't so many people there...
wooooooooooooow!
Scared me for a moment when the giant jumped in front of the train!
GREAT scenery and trackwork; was it a 808 "keychain" camera?
Mesmerizing to watch; thank you!
I see many gaps in the track work that should have ties, what;s up with that?

Rail Cat
Fair enough and well said.
I think the negative comments were excessive. The video is not perfect, but still enjoyable.
+Chet Zaiko Nit pic your own Vid and put it UP..

Unless the train is really long I think its going a little slow
That is a great looking layout. The video would have been better had there been no people in the shots ruining the illusion, especialy the train operator who kept sticking his face in the shots.

Would have been a much better video without the DCC controller in the camera view. PERIOD!
great model, get out of the shot!!!

You can remove all the external antennas from NCE radio throttles. Contact me i can help you get it done.
Does the Schnieder/ Snyder guy still go there?
Operator needs to get the hell out of the picture. Really brought the video down with him in the picture. G E T O U T !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Try filming it shutout all the chatter.
What's with the weird, wrong signals from the horn? Great layout, but if you're going to post a video, it's better public relations to make a video with proper signals for grade crossings, tunnels etc, and.....do it when the members are all gone.
Pull those pants up big boy!
Nothing like geezers bobbing their fat heads into frame to give authenticity to your video.
Почувствуй себя лилипутом

Would be amazing if it were silent so we could hear the rails and the switches...
Nice layout but please get out of the view, and speed up the train a bit it will never make the deadline.
Irritating as hell. Stay out of the picture and keep quiet. My goodness it's difficult to concentrate on the layout with you yapping and poking your face into the camera.

Stop pushing the horn button and stop getting in the video
Who's the creepy guy with New York ball cap? Ruins the whole video.
The giants destroyed the atmosphere as did all the talking.....shame.
