    I've always struggled to relate to American cars being from the UK, but man recently you guys are really pulling me in, the Z06, Z28 and GT 350R are all just pure porn and have all made me question my affinity to Porsche..

    • @アマ-p2l
      @アマ-p2l 8 лет назад +18

      same thing for us germans. mercedes/bmw/porsche nowadays producing mostly bullshit for idiots who want wealth symbols and luxury not a driving machine.

    • @PatrickEVRAable
      @PatrickEVRAable 8 лет назад +11

      +ye ye completely agree, I'd more true 'drivers cars' are coming from the Americans and Japanese. But we are living in a golden age currently where by near enough every manufacturer makes something for us enthusiasts. I can't see that lasting forever sadly.

    Awesome review...Matt...the guys on corvetteforum are raving about dsc controller improving their track lap times by as much as three seconds and they are also reporting improved street driving characteristics...

  • @DrainPipeJoe
    @DrainPipeJoe 8 лет назад +3

    It's so easy to go fast in a Z06, it's so easy you sometimes don't realize how fast you're going until you see the speed, then you hit the brakes and hang in the belts, that's how good this car is! It's so much more versatile than any other high performance car. It's unreal on the track while being like your daily driven Malibu on the streets!

  • @mendez827

      Did it make you feel like you were going faster? For the sake of humour, I hope you were commuting in like a Corolla or something, would be funny imagining that the engine noise was coming from your car lol

  • @BobOfAllTrades
    @BobOfAllTrades 8 лет назад +2

    These new Z06 cars are absolutely nuts! The only thing I never liked about the Vette is that you can have a base model all the way up to the big daddy and they all look relatively the same. Where as a Viper for example is just one model. Hopefully that makes sense.

  • @SKYENET-zy2cn

    The Z06 is a absolute BEAST!

    • @tmat04
      @tmat04 8 лет назад +2

      I agree! But, mechanically, Chevy could've made it better. For, example, the should've put in some more work into the C7 Z06's beautiful engine to ensure it wouldn't overheat. The also could've allow the Magnetic Ride Control to perform more functions, including what DSC does.

      @SuperWaterskiboy 8 лет назад +1

      +Rumored Gaso the 370z had auto rev match in the manual cars. ny friend has a z which has it.. this was in fact before corvettes. also i dont think corvette was exclusively the first car to get magnetic ride control but rather part of a group of chevy vehicles to get the feature.

    Doesn't the Z06 have 650 hp? Isn't that why it has the 650/650 badge on the interior? 650 hp, 650 tq? I'm kind of splitting hairs, but just wondering.

    love the new zo6 finally someone is fixing the heating issues that plague this car. hopefully Chevy does it themselfs! it doesn't matter that not many zo6 owners will take it to the track the ones that do bought a car built for the track and should work from the factory at one for more than a few laps before Temps start to creep to the point you need to pull off. depending on the length of the track that is. I still love the car this all being said.

    DSC has a special alignment for the Z06 that makes it go from "dangerous" to faster than their Porsche cup cars. just 0.8* caster on the rear...and the factory has such wildly varying tolerances. I wonder if they did it to this car, or just the MR calibrations.
    fwiw 2017+ Corvettes get better MR calibrations. ask your dealer to flash your older cars too.

    Random suggestion (to no one in particular) for the 7 speed 'missed gear' dilemma: Most of these exotics with the 7 speed manuals are capable of top speed without the seventh gear, and have them for street use and fuel economy, correct? And they have drive modes that change driving characteristics of the car. So, why not just give seventh gear a lockout that's open in the 'eco' or 'normal' drives setting, and closed in the 'sport' or 'race' setting? Many cars already use lockouts with manuals for other things. Just a thought.

    what they have basically done is taken an idea from the active suspension system developed by williams racing team in 1993 and added 2016 technology to it matt

    • @DSCSport
      @DSCSport 8 лет назад

      Not far off. But active suspension systems date back far before 1993. They first started becoming popular on Nissans and a few other brands in the 80s (Citroen and Cadillac both experimented with some basic designs in the late 50s). The problem with these, and those systems developed in F1, was that they required individual hydraulic motors on each individual shock. It added extra unnecessary unsprung weight (while I don't have numbers, it wasn't just a little bit), and were extremely slow due to the available technology at the time. The Tractive coilovers we offer as an upgraded package can respond to commands in just 6ms, plus they respond to mid-stroke command.

    Please Matt do a regular one take of the Z06 in the canyons, the car deserves it.
    God I love the looks and the sound of it and Im into japanese sports cars! Its just the USA has been manufacturing superior sports cars for some years.
    I feel jealous, in the EU only rich idiots can afford good sports cars like this one. The prices and maintenance costs are sky high here :/

    • @SenszR
      @SenszR 8 лет назад

      You don't have to be rich to buy a good sports car.

      +SenszR not necessarily true it depends on what country you live in, like in Denmark even a mid 90s Toyota corolla will cost you a arm and a leg

      otagogold 22 Yeah, in weird countries like that they have some shit eco tax thing.

      @atascatorDAOC 8 лет назад +1

      There is no weird country, just different laws and yes, you have to be rich to afford a good sports car like a porsche or M3 or things like that.
      And Im not even talking about Ferraris and supercars. Just good sports cars but they cost way more than 50k € and a lot to maintain and people earn much less than that in a year.
      So yes, you have to be rich to afford that kind of cars sadly.

    Isn't the Z06 650 hp? I know a minor detail but still. 640 is the CTS-V with the modified oil system I believe.
