Lithium is not the only source for batteries.
Our scientists can definitely find another element for batteries if money is spent on exploration.
There have been talk about graphite by scientists which is more powerful if scientists can make batteries out of graphite it would be good.
@@Rajesh-pm7xu yeah. There is a channel called cold fusion. Dagogo explains it. Go check it out
India can't even turn their raw cotton into textiles, have to export them to China, is now thinking of replacing China with lithium batteries? 😁😁😁😁 WOW
@@Rajesh-pm7xu I also thought first but done some searching and found that graphite is also not viable replacement as largest graphite resource holder is also hhina.
So that's y I said we need to find something entirely new and our scientists are fully capable to do that.

Madras IIT have found Iron ion {Fe -ion} battery. The Government of India must fund the research of Madras IIT
HOW about allowing private corporations to become the financing source for universities? Better right?
@@utkarshg.bharti9714 that's kinda not ideal since private funding will force the students to continue the research under the aegis of CORPORATIONS, which eventually will mean that the whole outcome/result is owned by single or a group of private companies, that will not be beneficial to the general public

It is for defence and aerospace.

They have something but the government isn't serious about anything. They are happy being at place they have in Technology. We need a government very serious about future.
Graphene is the future guys.
Ya man india should focus on that
Agreed! ...however it's too expensive for wide adoption..till that happens I guess we also have to focus on procuring Lithium.
It's not actually. Graphene is a bit old not. Good concept, but isn't scalable or practical. Carbon Schwarzites are ACTUALLY the future. It's nanocarbons with negative curvatures, would hold more charge while retaining properties of graphene i.e epic stuff.
Exactly what I was going to comment

Master piece plan by Indian Government.. very visionary for long term future. No matter how the Gtb growth of the current year but such important infrastructure laid will be the best for the nation..
First we need electric chargers all over the city....!
In Tier-1 cities there are. Tier-2&3 have less.
Country* Atleast in major cities, near the highways.
Remove the mindset of petrol bunk, petrol can't be stored at homes in large quantities, but electricity is there in all houses that can afford electric vehicles, just go home n charge ur vehicle, average e vehicle in India gives atleast 80km per charge, pls don't buy e vehicle if u travel more than 80km in a day within city n still not reach home, charge ur vehicle once u reach home, one charge is enough for 2 days of average city commute, if u plan to get stranded in city without charge, are you willing to wait for 1 hr - 4hr for ur e vehicle to charge up?
2019 govt has taken initiative and asked for bids......process is already underway....may have slowed down because of COVID-19
@@anand3d What 80kms dude? Tata nexon can go for 300+km easily and fast charging is also applicable for it
I want to buy an electric vehicle but there is no Charging stations in my city. If few Charging stations are opened at existing petrol pump then this single move will boost the sale of electric vehicles.
If you have electricity at home, you have a charging point.
Why ur home dont hv electricity that u depend on charging stations in petrol pumps to charge electeic vehicles. Still too much awareness is required for electric vehicles.
@@arunkottolli charging stations are still needed if you need immediate top up. It still take 15-30 mins to charge with super chargers. The one at home needs to run for almost 12 hours. So it is not feasible without the infrastructure.
@@msdadsfsx There is no need of installing it near the house as they install a charger at your place when you buy the vehicle. It needs to be up and around the entire city. And needs to be scaled up massively within a year to several location even highways for any functional utility. Or else it’s just a dud if there is no charger and it can only be used for city driving.
Tata Power has huge plan to put Charging stations at all petrol pumps, its a matter of time...things are already underway
Why we r not using carbon based battery which is made by indian
Fortunately there are some startups in India who developed alternative batteries like graphine batteries, crop recidule batteries, aluminium ion batteries ,alovera dry cells .most of them set to launch their batteries commercialy in 2022.Hope they will succeed.
bragging
Nothing happened
We should go one step forward and focus on alternative to lithium like sodium, iron ion and explore options like aluminum water reaction drivetrain, thorium hydrogen etc. I foresee a future of same car but swappable drivetrain concept determined maybe by the demand of the commute. There will be a choice of drive train for a regular work week and one for a long inter state or city travel and yet another for long heavy hauling etc. @WION love to see a story on this.

Quick! before China buys off all the lithium reserves.
Edit: China could go on a lithium buying Spree simply to make things difficult for countries like India.

First roads should me made proper in India then ev's will have a life.
First priority should be to generate enough electricity and build better roads to make ev success in india
India generates more electricity than US
Please look into the recent data and future policies of indian energy department, india can produce more than enough electricity on it's own, and its planning to create a energy circle around all the African nation to set up solar panels there and create a energy corridor much like how china created a economic corridor
india generates surplus electricity a nice thing for india

Yes agreed. Lithium is very important for the development of ev batteries. But also equally important if not more are the policies and infrastructure by the govt. The public transportation system still uses the same old smoking engine which holds a large percentage of pollution. Charging stations are rare. The only existing policy fame 2 is also very shady. There are many unique indian startups like log9 (aluminium air batteries) nexus (battery made from crop residue) these batteries do not need lithium and their energy density is far better almost comparable to petrol fuel tanks. The govt should lift and promote them.
At last when Nitin Ji gave that speech. He only gave some blank compliments and hope without any actual support from the govt. India has many hidden gems, be it batteries, ev manufacturers or charging solutions. The govt. should give this sector a little more priority.
We can make Lithium through biomanufacturing 👍👍 India should grow green and we need to be a part of it... ALL THE BEST INDIA...No more China products 👈
Why even bother for electric when u don’t have litanium. Start developing hydrogen fuel where it can be easily installed in existing petrol bunk and slowly petrol and Diesel can be faced out . Honda Hyundai Toyota are already in top of tec invite them to India . india always do what worlds do , it has been same for 7 decades . When will india be the pioneer and do first ?
Hydrogen technology is not feasible and the tech to produce hydrogen is expensive, intensive and lacks efficiency. India needs to sign free trade agreement with the golden triangle South American countries for lithium. India also need to make battery recycling plants for recycling battery waste. Tesla is coming to India this year. Hopefully Tata and Mahindra shift gears to manufacture electric vehicles along with hopefully many new indigenous start ups like Pravaig and Ather.
@@karanshah5604 it was same thing that was said to electric car before telsa . Hydrogen just need some carzy entrepreneurs to main stream it. Nikola was such comapnay but went to be fraud company .
Lol, if you think we have less lithium, then you must know hydrogen is even less. Hydrogen is only formed in labs in exothermic reaction of metals with water. It is even expensive and infeasible when majority can't even afford EV.
you can use solar tech
Lithium is also used for mobile and laptop batteries besides electric. We need to secure our lithium supplies.
Great information. But the hard reality is that it's gonna take atleast 2 decade to successfully establish electric car segment. And that's also if government subsidize and pay some initiatives to eco car adoption.
We need more charging stations. If there are charging stations every 100 Km we can move to electric cars. The manufacturing of EV will follow. SO the entry point will be to setup charging stations first. Without charging station not many will buy EV for long distance travel.

Only delhi CM has taken steps for this
We see Tesla, GM, MB, BMW, Audi, Volva etc all making deals with China's battery makers, how's that distancing with China?
they all have assembly plants in china for cars.
China, EU and US have already gained substantial market share in the international market. India has set a budget of $1.4 billion for EV's and on other hand Chinese government bailed out NIO the biggest competitor of tesla in China for $1.4 billion, do you see the difference in governments commitment? EV consumption needs a lot of infrastructure developments namely the charging ports or battery swap (concept hardly 0.000001% Indian aware of). Since a year we have reiterated knowledge of people with our 'leading pharmaceutical manufacturers' rant and what then we have shortage of medical requirements and we shall import vaccines now to meet local needs let alone being leaders of production. Our news outlets have kept us in banana world for long. 600 buses sold among a population of 1.3 billion people some what similar to our Olympic Medals.
very expensive, to buy an electric vehicle,.. one has to sell wife, kids like lord harishchandra,.....!!
Wonderful
But India EV is at great scam... can u beat the price of any electric vehicle?? 1.2 lakh ++ for scooter and 8 lakh+++ for cars on EV... is EV is more expensive than Petrol or diesel
India's method is to do lots of pujas, yatras, gods & gurus, sadhus & swamis & such.
India is so poor - where will the money come from?
Just plans, plans, ... Watch the way this Ghadkari talks; like a child. Is he the right guy to tell us about technical planning?
All BS and crap, Modi is the most self centric leader as we can get in India. India is just waking up and 5-10yrs late in the game. Modi is always bothered about his state Gujarat so until some Gujju wakes up there is no one to lead Modi by his hand. Gadkari is a mouth piece, when CBN was putting a policy in place 4yrs ago these very same leaders (Modi and Gadkari) opposed because Ambani wanted a deal with Saudi Aramco and supported oil.
people will not buy a lot of ev without a proper charging station network throughout the nation, we need to work on that too, that way we can leverage the tax cut move made earlier and there will be manifolds increase in ev purchase
also, more adoption of ev means more consumption of electricity hence increase in demand for power, ergo we might need to improve our production capacity of electricity too; very rapidly
Nothing has happened on the EV Policy. Most of the states don't even have a plan passed on how to promote EV . Only a handful of metro cities are working on promoting EV. If the government keeps working at this slow pace we might have only 10% EV's of the total registered vehicles till 2030
India get your car ' full batteries ' from Germany, France, USA, and Taiwan...They last 8 years longer than China's.
Instead of buy lithium from other countries, the Indian government should fund log 9 company that is making graphene.
@Palki Ji, India will try it but fail if the strategy is not right. I can help India in the strategy development and deployment. Obviously for a comman man, it is tough to bring the voice to the right ears. I hope you will reply.

An often forgotten fact. Cars, when invented, used to be electric cars (i.e. in the 1920s and 30s). It is only after that IC engines became popular.
Tesla is extracting lithium out clay using sodium chloride. Lithium is found everywhere, it is not a scarce mineral. We don't need to buy from other countries.
Thank you PM for your vision and plan for this great Nation
India can use sodium battery instead. It has half the range but unlimited supply. That is the perfect compromise for india.
We should work on silar cars too because we have lot of sun energy and lithium free batteries we must search for some substitute give much input in R&D we don't create technology we buy it thats our problem
I need to replace my lead acid battery for my inverter but could not find lithium battery . As the world need more and more lithium battery india should also establish a big lithium battery manufacturing industry even for export to other countries
Indian care makers and govt are pathetic...you only deserve ambassador cars.
India should work on hydrogen vehicles. it will be best source alternative of lithium
What about hydrogen or fuel-cell ev, they can be better substitutes to electric vehicles. Just fill in hydrogen and go, no need to wait for charging the vehicle.
Highly volatile
