  • At roughly 90k miles, my 435i started leaking oil from the front of the engine. Having owned a few other BMWs, I knew that the oil filter housing gasket was a known issue.

Awesome video bro, going to do this to my 135i this week. Two questions, do you recommend to replace the belt if there's little to no signs of any oil getting onto it? And any issues at all after this replacement?
edit: Also thanks so much for providing torque specs, literally nobody does this and it saves me 15 minutes of doing internet research and struggling to find a conclusion after 4 different numbers from forums and what not lol.

No need to replace the belt if it still looks good. Ive driven the car another 10k miles since this DIY and no issues

Great video! I'm going to be attempting this soon. Did you drain any oil and coolant before starting the job?

Do you leave the coolant reservoir cap off while bleeding the cooling system? or does it not matter

Hello I am writing to you from France I have watched your video and I did like you 500ml in the filter housing when reassembling I took the opportunity to drain the engine I started and let it run on site 20 minutes then road test of 20km at 2000rpm and for the moment nothing to report

Don't you need to replace the air intake manifold gaskets when you change out the oil filter housing gaskets?

      No

Yes, the guidance is those gaskets are not to be reused. Few bucks for a new set.

Any thoughts on priming the oil as some folks have suggested?

I'm 2k miles in with no catastrophic failure like some talk about. Maybe I'll do an oil analysis on the next change..

@@RayFiore13 I found a guide on RUclips how to do it. The process wasn't too bad with the aid of a small flathead to disconnect the fuel injector wiring.
