  • Cessna 206 with sportsman STOL kit practicing short field spot landing at KCLS - a pilot view. Approach is from the East to a mid field crossover at 1,500ft ASL and enter a right downwind coordinated 270 degree turn with full flaps to land on runway 16. The simulated short field is the runway length of 1,100ft between the two exit taxiways. Wind 190 at 6kts, temp 65 degF. Slight side slip in the turn to final to compensate for the light crosswind. The practice goal is to become proficient in emergency landing techniques for short tight land-able spaces. The tight close in approach requires the pilot to become responsive to the rapid control changes necessary to become consistent. KCLS is a good place to practice as it is 5,000 ft long with open approaches. There was no other traffic in the area during this practice.

Well.... I was hoping to hear the review. Like how many feet were used, but more importantly, what the touchdown speed was. I’m looking at the Sportsman STOL for N8445Z.
