Do more pause and decide which position to move into type things. It's like being tested on racecraft and I think that sort of thing is super helpful. Great vid as always.
Instinct was left (and would have gone that way too) but right was clearly the correct decision after a second of consideration. Solid video as always Jeffy.
Man when I was young I always thought road bike racing was so weak and corny. But as an adult and knowing more about this kind of bike riding it is just so intense and very tough also bad ass!!!! Love these camera angles by the way! 🤘
The way he was talking about it, I was assuming he was going right. But maybe it was just hindsight speaking. Pretty much said it was a guaranteed good line to go right even though the guys on the left are faster.
That up and down curb on turn 2 actually isn’t too bad you go up a driveway and then down. You don’t have to hop an actual curb. I took the line once when I got pinched.
for me, coming out of that last turn, the head of the peloton shifts wide to the left, and you were looking at a wide open center line down the middle of the street. Those are the opportunities that I always looked for. And yeah, that seems like a long sprint, so I understand why you decided to tuck in for a moment before launching, but I can't help but think that if you had stayed inside coming out of that turn, you would have overtaken Bloody Butt Cheek and been right on yellow frame guy's wheel when he slipped out to the right, which easily could have meant 4 or 5 places better than you finished.
10:59 Your comment perfectly fits what the orange in front of you does. I saw a horrific crash at an UCI race this year because of such behavior. Which brings me to my question. Is there any rule to avoid that riders move laterally in the group?
@@jonathansnell876 I guess that amateur cyclists take more risks than the pros since they most likely won't get any penalty and haven't learnt from crashing previously what not to do.
How often do you typically participate in these kind of races and how often do you manage to get in the money. And how much price money is there to begin with? Also. In what top percentage of the nation would you place yourself?
I would have chosen the same line but continued to accelerate up the left catching a quick wheel for the slingshot around the far left. Well, I would have done that in 1992, not anytime current! LOL
Hi again dude, new member here, Im addicted to your videos. Is it possible you could link me to, OR do a new video if you havn't done one for people who are new to riding and are wanting to log their cycles like this with video, basically doing a tutorial on the cameras you use front and back, wat you USE to mount them, and WHERE to mount them! Tank you do much
at 13>40 road widens you and Hayden pass 5 or so advancing on the left, brilliant, then the lead train comes to block yall out from the right Hayden grabs no brakes slots in nicely, but you, you grab tiny bit, SO WOULD I LOL!
@@NorCalCycling cs dude is in china doing UCI 2.1's now for some slovenian team. i have the pleasure of occasionally getting ripped apart by them here.
my first instinct was to go left because you were going faster the mr butt cheek and would have had to slow down to get on his wheel, but after you poused it i figered that thare is nowere to go on the left an any way you'd probably have to go right eventualy to get past.

Thanks Jason, I'll include more of these in future videos.
big of fan of the other side-line camera angle! mixes up from the gopro all the time. Love the vids!
I have Attack Pictures to thank for providing the "B-roll" footage. He's a great videographer, check out his channel.
Still at my desk...should be working...this is better.
I'm in that camp as well...
"Mr. Bloody butt cheek" 😂
Garry Wallah think his name is David Dawson. Absolute gem of a guy. I attended a FL cycling camp with him a few years back.
Ya, he's strong. He was always up there in the sprint.
@@Brian-pk1ol Yep, Davey D. Nice dude.

looks like a rad course love the curb to sidewalk transition lol
A lot of people liked that line. First couple laps the fans didn't realize it though
Nice job mixing in the front views with the on-bike footage.
This is some Top Gun, Big Boy, Life Making, Life Ending kind of stuff here.

The pause and decide reminds me of Dora the explorer lol
Great channel man! Thank you
I'd go left too on the "227m moment". The guy right in front of you (number 92) sprinted strong, that was unlucky that you couldn't get his draft.
The way he was talking about it, I was assuming he was going right. But maybe it was just hindsight speaking. Pretty much said it was a guaranteed good line to go right even though the guys on the left are faster.
Would be interesting if you could share your tire choices for technical/non technical tracks and why you choose them
This crit looks bloody terrifying
just wait for the next few races in the series...
Who else nods their head side to side when he's out the saddle?
I do lol
What is the name of the Dominican Sprinter you mentioned? Thanks
Cesar Marte
That guy could sprint like crazy i tell ya!
Yep, Cesar Marte, he won the first stage. Super strong but kind of reckless to be honest
Thanks!

in a sprint people that cause crashes by not keeping their line will get punished or disqualified
I re-watched this bit too. Super sketchy, comes up on the left and cuts across so many front wheels?!

Did the Project Echelon guys not know that there was a breakaway up the road by the way they were celebrating winning the field sprint?
Yes, because their goal was omnium
Lol when ur turning my hand legit starys going up to " hold the break " i forget im not riding
The concrete is awful how did you guys race in that?
Ever think about racing XC mountain bike?

Dang man tough race. I really don't think there was much you could have done in that sprint, no matter which line you picked.
Great job champ💪
