  • If you're creating X Y scatter charts, sometimes you'd have multiple series of data, but you're not needing to compare them to each other. Rather you just want to show them in the same chart without making multiple scatter charts. It's not too hard to put them into one chart and have a button give you the option to select one or another. Check out the video to learn how!

I am trying to do this but excel is letting me do a scatter chart without selecting the data first, or putting data out of the pivot table. I have everything in pivots.

excellent demo. Can you take this same example one step further and give instructions/advice on what you would do if you wanted to COMPARE GROUPS 1, 2 and 3 (or combinations of them selected by SLICER) SIMULTANEOUSLY on the same XY scatter chart and have each group with a unique marker/color?

It might become difficult to make comparison all in one chart. Another option could be the panel chart approach. ruclips.net/user/DougHExcelsearch?query=panel

Hi there, is there a way to link each plot point to the student associated with it? So that if you click or hover over a data point you can see which student it represents? Thanks so much.

one of these might help ruclips.net/user/DougHExcelsearch?query=scatter%20label

@@DougHExcel Hi Doug, thank you so much for the reply. Unfortunately, I have hundreds of data points on my scatter chart and so it is difficult to read the labels due to overlap. Ideally, it would be great if the labels did not show up automatically in the chart, but rather you could see the label by hovering over each individual data point. Any tips on how to do that? Thanks again.

I don't think there's an option for that, but probably can be done with VBA
