I think people need to understand that Homelander mostly cares for his son because he sees him as an extension of himself. Ryan to Homelander is like a miniature version of him, which is a super common thing to think as a parent so that’s a big reason of why I think that. When you keep in mind that Homelander is a bad person, I think it’s easy to see how that might be true.

This is an example of a show adaptation that absolutely improved a source material by straying from it. Homelander is a deeply flawed. Absolutely crazy! Murderous sociopath psychopath probably all of the paths. But they still somehow make you feel for him, especially if you really understand his back story. Man these guys acting are really unbelievably good at this. I've done acting in my youth high school and college and it's one of the harder things to really do and make it believable. Both Carl Urban and this other guy Anthony something. I can't remember his name that plays homelander say paragraphs without opening their mouth. Carl Urban impresses me on this and so does the other guy and everybody involved. But making a superhero movie believable with the sheer emotion that you exude on how you play the park is unbelievably difficult to do. Talk about where your heart on your sleeve!! Cuz somebody to tell me what happened in the scene. I have never seen this show before and after would be appreciated
