Many colleges and universities host public debates all the time. In fact, these types of things happen more often at colleges or universities than anywhere else. Secondly, Micheal Knowles constantly asserts that all (or almost all) of colleges/universities or places of higher academics are very liberal and left-leaning. Hence, the left would host these types of forums or debates significantly more often than the right.

Some of us were stupid when we were young, but later realized our folly and wised up with age. Then there are people like this guy.
Well I'm fairly certain he's not "firing on all cylinders", so to speak. If you know what to look for you can see signs of intelligence, and even intent by looking into someone's eyes. Some people think this is crazy but there is research that supports it. When I look into his eyes I see a certain lack of focus, which is the best I know how to describe it, which tells me he isn't the brightest person. I don't think it's really fair to compare someone like this to others, I actually kind of feel bad for him.

The funny thing is he's trying to be over-literal, but also missing his own point. If a melting pot has certain ingredients, in the right order and quantity with control over how they effect the whole- then illegal immigration would be like allowing random ingredients tossed into your cake batter willy-nilly. My grandparents immigrated from Italy in the early 1900s. They learned English, followed the law, got jobs, worked hard an made a good life for their children. So you can say they Assimilated but kept their culture.
They came, and like my Irish daily, didn't demand welfare payouts, affirmative action, or to have everyone tell them they are "unique" or "special".

My view is it's not so much a paradox as it is a corruption of the original meaning of 'liberal' in the USA. Elsewhere in the English speaking world, a liberal is more akin to a classical liberal. I can't know for sure, but I doubt the guy talking at Knowles is a classical liberal. I suspect he would also seek to "correct" Hobbes or Locke.
