    as a newer player looking to improve my own form your channel is so good thank you! was wondering which mold for the techdisc you have trying to decide which to get myself thinking the fairway

      I have the distance driver but for a newer player the fairway is probably a better option because you probably won’t have much use for distance drivers until you are throwing mid 300 feet.
      Although, another reason I got the distance driver was because it’s harder to grip since the rim is wider, so I wanted to get more comfortable with it. Fairway drivers are much more comfortable and easy to grip so I felt like I didn’t need as much practice with them.

    Super interesting! I have to try this after I work on my current form changes, the list is growing out of control it seems :D I have to try and focus on one thing at a time.
    A question regarding nose angle, I dont have tech disc but I can see that I release the disc nose up. My max distance is about 340 atm, how much does the nose angle affect the distance? For instance a 4° nose up vs -4° nose down
    Really like the channel! Cheers from Denmark

      I haven’t compared 4 to -4 nose in the sim but you should check it out and play with it: techdisc.com/simulator
      To get max distance with 4 or -4, the nose up will need more turn or less hyzer and a lower launch angle compared to the nose down.
      But as everyone pretty much knows throwing downwards to get more distance from nose up becomes another problem.
      It seems like most peoples nose up comes from pronating the wrist accidentally and / swooping the arm up so I think the common advice is good practice: focusing on locking the wrist (until you get it under control) and throwing with a low reach back to practice a slightly towards throw plane.
      I feel that too about working on a lot of stuff but for me I wish I didn’t wait on this one because it required little attention so I could’ve done it while focusing on other stuff as well but of course some people will need to focus more on it possibly.

    I need to do this off arm test, but for a different reason. For some reason my throwing shoulder elevates during my swing, and my off shoulder depresses. I think if I can elevate my off arm and pin it to my side, I can bring the throwing shoulder down some. Or at least put them on the same plane.

      My throwing shoulder elevated too it seems. Haven’t tried addressing it yet.

      @@disc-golf-neil I just did some tests a few hours ago, and I'm looking at the footage now. I have a breakthrough, at long last, and it's directly due to this Jacob Semerad off arm strategy. I'll assemble this video and publish it tomorrow morning, but I wanted to let you know first that using the off arm to raise my off shoulder up to the same level as my throwing shoulder, dramatically lowers nose angle for me, and somewhat reduces wobble. Very incomplete picture, but this is the first legit breakthrough I've had in over a year.

      @@disc-golf-neil "Jakub Semerád" of course (to spell his name correctly). I've been meaning to try this since I first saw him over a year ago in his epic battle with Gregg Barsby in Europe, but I've been an instant fan of him since then. Now I have more of a reason to be a fan.

      @@disc-golf-neil Thank you Neil! I owe this in some part to you as well, because you basically validated use of this technique, and helped as a catalyst of sorts for me to try this out.

    Does your throws in the field mimic the simulator distance?

    • @disc-golf-neil
      @disc-golf-neil  6 месяцев назад +4

      Yes but not as often because there are too many variables like wind and changing the disc flight numbers every throw as I cycle through my discs.
      I can't just throw 8 duplicates with the same flight numbers to try to make a small adjustment to my release angles to get the full flight, it's more like ok try to rip this on 30 deg hyzer because it's flippy, then it doesn't flip enough because I didn't hit my speed goal, so then I go to the next disc and think, ok this one I need a bit less hyzer because it's not as flippy but then I hit a higher speed and it over turns or there's some headwind that over turns it, etc..
      Within 6-8 throws in the field though if it's not a ripping headwind I can usually get one throw into the mid 400s through.

    • @disc-golf-neil
      @disc-golf-neil  6 месяцев назад +2

      @@Andyofsuh are you doing a full run up or a walkup? It definitely felt more awkward on a full runup because that's when you use your off-arm / non primary things even more for natural balance.
      My goal is to mostly practice more controlled walk ups using this so that after I have the muscle memory I can stop doing it and it will stay close naturally but with some freedom to move around so then run ups will feel good too.

    I'd be curious to see the differences between a gibson style off arm and a GG style off arm. I messed around with each (ruclips.net/video/-HoVkdKO8c8/видео.html) but since I didn't have a tech disc I couldn't really tell if either of them were better or worse

    • @disc-golf-neil
      @disc-golf-neil  6 месяцев назад

      Definitely would be interesting but hard I find it pretty hard to do pretty different off arm timing stuff. I'd want to test the full motion not just the ending position, so GG for example brings the off arm up really high.
