Although the Sega CD wasn't all that popular.. the music and songs in the games was off the charts. This Lunar song was one of my favorites back in the day. It still rocks to this day. Love it❤
With all the remakes of some games nowadays...I really wish they would remake this game. It would top the charts if done right. Great story and characters.
Every time I used to turned on the Sega CD I would listen to this song in its entirety, getting all pumped up to continue my saga. What a great game. Best one ive played IMO.
You wrote this 7 years ago and here I am 30 years on watching this on youtube and finding your comment! I played this intro too evetime I loaded up the game, when I neared last 3rd of the game this title brought tears when I loaded it up! What a classic, my first RPG and my favourite!
I will never get tired of this song. Along with Night Trap and the Sonic CD theme. Somehow, for some reason Sega CD games had absolute bangers for theme songs.
I never even owned a sega CD and I still remember this song as clear as the first time I heard it while playing with my cousins. Honestly one of the best intros in video games.
This was the first game I ever played on my Sega CD as a kid and it absolutely blew my mind. I would play this late into the night every night especially one summer break. I don't think I ever skipped this intro.
Sadly cuz the 80s are gone, these games will never be the same. The emotion from this song made me wanna be a hero the whole game, that feeling is gone from today's games. Today's are mostly blah, I'm a hero I guess....
You right, but my I Suggest Tales of Arise opening So good the 1st time I saw it I thought it was an anime and I was looking for an anime found out it was a game
Still my favorite RPG ever. I remember waking up and wrapping up in a blanket on my bed playing this as a kid, just spending my Christamas break grinding on it and my friends and I getting excited little by little. Yup, time to emulate!
I own the both on Sega CD, and PS1 and have Silver Star Harmony on PSP. Trust me you can never get enough Lunar this is one of my favorite series along with the old Final Fantasy, Phantasy Star, and Y's.
The first time I listened to this song was the special soundtrack CD that came with Lunar Silver Star Story on Playstation. I didn't know this was the US song from the Sega CD version. I always found it better than the newer song.
8-bitBishop I've only played the PSOne version but I can't get enough of the SCD music. Thanks for the notification now I can watch this clip a few more times. :P
DariaPlaysRPGs Yeah the music is fantastic. I remember when the psone version came out. I was so excited. I popped that sucker in and was quickly dissatisfied. I strongly recommend the original. It has charm and character to it that the psone version lacks.
+Prince Raw D Nah, lots of cool stuff for Sega CD. Popful Mail, Vay, Dark Wizard, the ever immortal Snatcher, Sonic CD, Rise of the Dragon, Mansion of Hidden Souls, Panic, Silpheed, The Terminator, tons of good games on it, just nobody ever played them. It was a great system if you knew what to look for.
this is the best jrpg of all time period. this opening is fire even the phone is fantastic too. but story and characters made this adventure wholesome. too bad we didn't get a part 3
When all the land is peaceful and there is no real threat to us at last. Then comes the time for love two hearts colliding into one great hymn. But there are winds foreboding and there is a dark storm that soon will pass. Kiss me my love then go the time for valor has returned again. On through the night. Keep marching on. Fighting through the darkness all is evil still we must press on. Friendship forged in battle watch your backs now take heed! Come back to me. Fighting through the darkness all is evil still we must press on. Flying toward the power that enslaves us yet we are not done. Racing toward the climax of the battle to return to love. Valiant 'gainst the power evil forces take heed!
Sweet Althena, this intro takes me back. Wonderful game. Played through it so many times back in the day. Me and my brothers got this and other games along with a Sega CD from a cousin of ours. Another cousin insisted I saw Luna before she gets hijacked by plot; dunno why. Couldn't get past the Water Dragon in Meribia Sewers for the longest time, so I'd keep starting over; lather, rinse, repeat. Must've been in my early teens when I finally beat the dragon and played through the rest of the game during summer. I'd stay with my grandparents, God rest their souls, while Dad was working and Mom and my brothers were at the Boy Scout Camp in Guajataca, Puerto Rico. Best summer of my life by far. So many parts were a pain in the a%$, but having a strategy guide made the blows less painful. Got stuck for the longest time with the Dragon Angels at the Goddess Tower. Figured out I needed Dragon Quake to kill them ASAP. The final battles against Xenobia and Magic Emperor were a bit of a letdown, but ok, nonetheless. On one playthrough I maxed out everybody levels all the way to 99. I looked at that pic at the game manual which showed Ghaleon fighting the Black Dragon with Alex and co. Spoiler alert: he was the bad guy all along, no way to keep him. Even wrote to Working Designs about it; their reply must still be somewhere around my house. Ghaleon and Xanatos from Gargoyles are the two 90s fictional villains that left a lasting impression on me. John Truitt is a fricking legend in human form. I understand he's a busy man and retired from voice acting, but it'd mean the world to me to hear his Ghaleon voice in newer media, unlikely as it might seem.
This was the best RPG I ever played, and I've played a lot. When Eternal Blue came out, I didn't just beg my dad to get it for me... I explained how no other game had ever made me fall in love before. Of course, there's one bad memory attached: when you go to the bar and the girl is singing there, and the recording of her comes on (the good singer, not the bad one who sings the same song) some hooligan kids from next door heard it and started singing it back mockingly through my window. I still loved it, and next time a song game on, I just turned it up.
Wow. Talk about memory lane here. I remember how horrible the Gen 1 Sega CD was. It blew a fuse on me 2 times and cost 60-80 bucks to get it fixed both times! What a crock. But games like Lunar 1 & 2 made it SO worth it :-)
Thanks for your site I've been using it for 3 years now it opened my eyes on a lot of great games that came out before I was even born and I really really appreciate what you have done 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Wow! So many great memories of this game. I remember watching this intro a lot. :-) I know you uploaded this 12 years ago, but thank you for doing it. :-)
oh man, definitely better than the psx opening(I almost wish I owned this version just because of that but then again the graphics of psx look a little better....)
Little totally awesome touches like redoing the opening in english are why I will always miss working designs. Between this, lunar 2, Popful Mail, Sol Feace, and sonic cd, I am fully convinced that the Sega CD was designed to blow the user's mind in 1992. There was nothing else even really like it, and it's games were largely solid compared the the Turbografx cd based offering. Beyond Ys, those seemed mostly hit or miss in my opinion. Especially when compared to the sega cd and it's killer titles. 😊
When I bought this game for the PS1 (having never played the Sega CD original) and heard this song on the included soundtrack, I thought this was sung by Xenobia during some evil forces montage FMV sequence lol!
The first true friend i ever made owned this game when we were in elementary school. While I had played FF1, this is the game I learned what a RPG was and never strayed from the genre since. The disk had a scratch on it, which didn't bother us until the fight with the Black Dragon. During the fight the music would end and instead of repeating it just died. When the dragon would be defeated, the group would just dance in place and it wouldn't exit out of the battle, thus not being able to continue with the story. After trying and trying to get beyond I decided to just keep playing where I could for shits and giggles. Eventually I leveled the group enough and thought to try the black dragon again. I was able to defeat it before the music ended and the battle concluded as any normal battle would, i was ecstatic, i was finally able to continue on and eventually beat the game. I bought the system and game from said friend. At some point a different friend spilled soda on the console and it stopped working, so without thinking I threw it away. I still have the case, booklet and strategy guide, but the CD is chilling in a landfill, never to be seen again, probably my greatest regret to date (privileged, I know). @@Reid_Me That is an awesome story! I figured out when the music ended during a long battle, I'd pick up the system at the corner and drop it lightly and that would usually get it going again!

I played this game on Sega CD. When I was young, I thought it was awesome.
I will never get tired of this song. Along with Night Trap and the Sonic CD theme. Somehow, for some reason Sega CD games had absolute bangers for theme songs.
It is mandatory that no matter where we are if one of my brothers starts singing it we all need to stand up and sing it as dramatically as possible.
I never even owned a sega CD and I still remember this song as clear as the first time I heard it while playing with my cousins. Honestly one of the best intros in video games.

The singer slayed the hell out of this song. 0:36 That “ON THROUGH THE NIIIIIGHT~!” Gave me chills.
She bloody kills it. The whole damn is unabashedly cheesy, and I live for it.
"FIGHTING THROUGH THE DARKNESS..." 🔥😭🔥
Agreed. Don't know who singer was but did a fine job. Back then it seems they spent more money on the music and soundtracks more than the game.
@@aaronbailey3571 the sega CD's huge advantage when it came out was its audio so it seems most games really focused on it
Dark wizard was another game with amazing music, compared to the SNES and stand alone Genesis, just amazing
I recorded that song on my little micro tape recorder and would play it on my way to school to keep me focused. Loved it so much!
I loved this game too. I agree, the best anime intros were on the Sega CD and TG16.
Why aren't JRPG intros like this anymore! Freakin' Awesome!
