My husband was having the same type issues: tired, short of breath. Told same thing by his dr: got to expand those lungs. Some times he gets a little lazy and doesn’t want to exercise. I showed him your video today. this is a true public service announcement, Sandy. Thanks for sharing and keep up the good work!
Sadly the reality of hitting our 80’s - scary scary - just had an echo last week - had breast cancer this past winter, then shingles - please, could this all stop, - I’m a healthy woman - - hope all goes well with you and everything ok!!
You are spot on. I had a cervical lam and couldn’t walk afterward for 4 weeks without a walker. Lack of exercise!!!! Good for you walking!! In exercising now and the rest of my life. I am 80. By the way your makeup is wonderful love the shade of lipstick you are wearing.
I know that had to be super scary! I’m glad your heart and lungs are fine! Sounds like exercising is helping! I need to do more of it myself! So good to see you! You look beautiful!
Good for you Sandra! Walking is great! I have been walking for years and now after I broke my hip, I am using walking sticks! I too only walk outdoors! So beautiful in the early morning hours. Good luck and happy walking!
So happy for you! We need more doctors like the ones you found. As a sedentary 76 yo, ( on no meds, with no symptoms yet) you have motivated me to start walking, lots of good programs online. Best wishes for better health!
Hello, I so enjoy your videos. Sandra, sorry you went thru all that worry, I understand, I am the same. Happy to learn that all you need is excercise, you can do it. I walk 3 miles daily, and I don’t like it, but I make myself do it. I do the walking in the neighborhood. In the past year, I have had a frozen shoulder and a tear in the muscle of the same arm as well. It has been a long haul of rehabilitation, however, all is much better now. I miss you when I don’t hear from you, you are so much fun. Keep walking and let us know how all is going on with you. Have a good day! Bye for now!
I used to do 3 miles. I'll get there. Right now I'm at 1 and 3/4. But give me a month I'll keep everyone updated. When I do flats I go up to 2 miles. It will be fun to keep track.
So happy you’re back and that you’re well and good 😘Exercise can really work wonders for our physical and mental health! Walk and dance; movement is so good xoxo
Hey Sandra…I tell myself that I owe it to my body to take care of it. I deserve to be healthy…doesnt always work but I keep telling myself that lol…patti 🌷🌿
Oh my gosh Sandy, thank goodness all is well! You've reminded me I need to walk more - I do my own housework and walk up and down the stairs all day - but I do need to walk every day. even if its only for 20 minutes. And oh how I would love to learn to dance with you - I've always wanted to know how to dance the Argentine Tango! I keep meaning to learn, but...
Yep, Dez you've got to move. I used to exercise a lot when I was younger but.... I don't know covid, surgeries ( lots) and then radiation just didn't make me want to exercise. Well, now I have to. I see what it has done to my lungs. So please start.
I’m 64 and have had 6 major surgeries since 2017 and I’m expecting to have another soon. But I do dance exercises. Even if it’s only 15-30 minutes a day. It helps my breathing. I also sing in a pop choir. That will get your lungs work8mg too! Oh I’m so glad you got a smart smart doctor. Go Sandy!
Wonderful! I'm only 60. Had a total hip replacement last year on my left side. Last week I had a total hip replacement on my right side. When I can, I can't wait to walk! I say this now....haha. Lets see if I follow throught. I have to. I'm so glad you're ok!
Happy to hear your issues are not severe. I’m researching walking pads so I can walk even in bad weather, I live in Massachusetts so the grim weather will be here soon.
Sandra…the things our mind does to us as we amp up our worry and stress?! Thank God for a doctor these days who, will refuse to prescribe a pill when we are our own cure. So pleased you are doing better. There is a psychologist who says we “rehearse catastrophe” in our minds. So true. Take good care and keep moving! So glad you are back with us….we missed you💄❤🙏
Sandra, the oxometer readings can be lower with the nails you wear. Found this out when my daughter was in the ER and was wearing them. You've inspired me! Again!!
@@SandraSallin Understood that Sandy. Was just an FYI. I'm so glad you were issued only a script for exercise. Good lesson for all of us!. My daughter is improving thank goodness. Always miss your vlog when you are away. Hugs.
Hi Sandra, I’m so happy to hear that you’re doing OK. I’m close to your age and have been experiencing many health issues recently, but hate exercising. I’ve been doing some light weights at home But now you’ve inspired me to start walking again. It is my favorite form of exercise. And yes, I’ve lost weight in the past just by walking. Take care keep us posted. BTW I’ve missed you so much, and was so happy when I saw your face on RUclips.
Oh Sandra! What a mess you had to go through just to find out you just needed to move your body more. So glad you’re feeling better! I’ve spent a lot of the summer sitting (I’m in Texas and it’s too hot to walk outside). You’re absolutely correct-I can walk in my house and find some good online exercise programs. Wish me luck!

Oh my gosh, what a scary time for you! It's amazing how creative our minds can get when the unknown is presented to us, right? I can so relate to this! And it all sounds amusing and fascinating the way you tell it, but I know it must have been torture. I so appreciate you telling this, it is so helpful to hear! And last but not least, I'm so glad you're doing well, after all. And, good for you for taking on exercising! Boom, double whammy! (I know "worry is a misuse of the imagination," but sometimes that imagination just takes over!)
I would love you to keep us informed about your progress. I live in the South - hot and humid! I have been getting out right at daybreak. No make-up, no coffee, just shoes on and out the door. At our age, mobility and function require a bit of a commitment.
Greetings Sandra! Oh I'm so glad that you are okay!! Having scans and tests are a bit on the anxiety producing side, aren't they? I mean, there is this gap between the scan and the results, right? I have to see a pulmonologist too because of my cardiac scoring scan. Drama! Love and blessings ♥️🙏
Thank you for sharing. Our insurance/AARP offers a free exercise program at a local gym. We didn’t look into it for a couple of years bc we thought we would t enjoy a grimy, creepy gym atmosphere. Long story short we found a very, very, very nice, clean gym less than 3 mi from our house and have been going for a year already. We don’t pay extra for more time at the gym but we do supplement with walks and bike riding. We are in our 70’s and both look forward to our gym days. Glad you are feeling better. Take good care.
Sorry you had to go through that!❤! I need to move more too. You know how they often prescribe breathing treatments after surgeries. I am surprised they don’t have you doing them.
Glad you have found the answer for you. I’m a year behind you in age, but I just have hip replacement surgery and in three months I need a knee replacement surgery, so walking is out the question for me… 😢 but I’m doing better than five weeks ago! We just have to do what is best for at different stages of life. Proud of you and your walking 🎉💖
Hi Sandra! So glad your breathing issues can be easily resolved. No doubt you will excel. Listening to your story, I was reminded of the Englishman David Abel and his wife Sally who both survived Covid while being trapped on a cruise ship in the early days of the pandemic. David was nearly a goner when he remembered some lung improving exercises from the 70s, I think. He saved his own life by doing them diligently. There are several videos here on YT with him and Sally telling the whole amazing story.
So glad it’s a good outcome with your breathing Sandra, it must have been very scary for you, I do look illnesses up on the internet and scare the life out of myself sometimes. Just a simple thing like walking can help a lot of health problems. I must try, it’s easy to get out of the habit of going for a walk . Thank you for sharing 😊xx
Viewed this earlier, but I wanted to return with a comment. I understand, here with the heat and humidity it's difficult to go out walking. Guess I will try earlier in am. Prayers, for you feeling "friskier". Glad the answer is a positive activity.
So good to see you Sandra. Bless your heart, all the worrying that a nurse/ radiologist caused you. But praise for God you’re ok. As a retired Nurse/ Cardiovascular Sonographer, ejection fraction is the % of the Pumping of our Left Ventricle ( layman’s term). Some cardiologist say a normal range is 50%-65%; some say 55%- 65%. So, anything below 50 would be considered lower. I think you would really build up your Muscles ( our heart is a muscle) join a gym and get with a personal trainer to guide you in some light weight lifting. Walking is great, but adding weight lifting adds so much. You will start feeling like Wonder Woman! So good to hear that your Echo was within normal limits and your lung test were normal. I bet you was shocked( in a great way) when the Pulmonologist told you everything was normal, you just needed to exercise. Keep us posted ok. Hope you and hubby join a gym and pump some iron. lol. Love ya lady.
The pulmonary function test was not normal it showed that I had a disease. That my lungs were stiff. But the doctor did not see damage to the lungs so he felt I could get them working. That's interesting about the heart being a muscle. So by not exercising I was letting it get weak. You're right about needing a trainer for strength. I'll look into that thank you. I guess I didn't mention the bad pulmonary test results.
@@SandraSallin no, you didn’t but that’s ok. With walking and exercising you can strengthen your lungs and begin increasing your O2. Do you have a Health App on your phone and or a Smart watch? If not, that will help you see your daily o2 level while briskly walking etc. and with the Health App, you can get like a weekly data.
Sandra listening to you I can’t but feel sorry for the stress u had. But TG you’re fine. Exercise!! I do nothing, hate it. I have to start walking. Eikes!! thank you Sandra
Glad you are okay! Follow the doctor's orders. I need to do the same so you will be my inspiration. I have to get into a routine with it, same time every day and that is hard for me. Keep us posted!
So glad to know you’re doing better. Have missed you. Everyone googles their symptoms and fears the worst. How fortunate that for you the answer is simple. Not that exercise is simple but the answer is simple! We tend to think we can solve all of our ailments with medication. But just getting up and walking is the best medicine… and it’s free! During Covid I started meditating. Again, its simple and easy to do..give it a try!🥰😘
I'm so glad you are okay! Happy walking. You are looking look very well and I LOVE your lipstick! Would you mind sharing the brand and shade? Please + thank you!
OMG ! You and I are exactly alike. The thoughts which go through my head ,When it comes to my health , scare me. When it comes to exercise I know it makes me feel better but I hate it. If we were neighbors I’d walk the hills with you.
I missed you so much, lovely to see you again. Keep up the walking - I love your tours around your neighbourhood. I also love Yoga with Adrienne on RUclips, it really encourages you to breathe deeply and expand your lungs. You may want to try it.
Assume your doctor checked your iron. I was having the same issue & my iron, red blood count & hemoglobin were well below normal. I'm dealing with that now.
😆 ohh Sandra…I am YOU and you are me😆. I’d have done the same thing..gone down that rabbit hole. Sure wish we could get all those tests immediately…the waiting is the worst🤦♀️. Thank you…you inspire all of us to get to p and get going❤
Just been advised irradiation from breast cancer has burnt though to lung. Breathing terrible. Scared. 82 would never have had radiation if I had known. One of the 1% apparently. Be careful check everything.
So relieved to hear all will be well. You look very healthy, your color is good. The anxiety and worrying can take your breath away, too. God bless and thanks for inspiring us to get exercising.
Oh, I'll so sorry. What will they be doing for you? I haven't heard of that. The radiation for the breasts is different than for the chest. It's lighter and longer. Let me know how it goes.
@@SandraSallin I wil, breast cancer was in situ so shouldn’t have happened. Radiation has penetrated causing breathing issues. Not enough oxygen. Wouldn’t have had radiation at ll if known it could damage organ near.
Why would you not educate and research health issues, good grief. You need to be pro active and learn about symptoms if you want to be in charge of your body.Stop panicking and start learning. Every single thing you said is also a viral symptom. You are lucky you got a Dr that knew what’s what.

Oh how I love happy endings, Sandra! 💖💖💖💖 I learned to ballroom dance in my 40s, something I wanted to do my whole life! 💃🕺
Good for you. 👍
Sandra listening to you I can’t but feel sorry for the stress u had. But TG you’re fine. Exercise!! I do nothing, hate it. I have to start walking. Eikes!! thank you Sandra
Join me!😊
Glad you are okay! Follow the doctor's orders. I need to do the same so you will be my inspiration. I have to get into a routine with it, same time every day and that is hard for me. Keep us posted!
I'm right with you. 👍
Thank you for the suggestion. 😊
I'm so glad you are okay! Happy walking. You are looking look very well and I LOVE your lipstick! Would you mind sharing the brand and shade? Please + thank you!
Thank you. It's Twist of Fate by Tom Ford
Thank goodness 🙏🏻
❤️
OMG ! You and I are exactly alike. The thoughts which go through my head ,When it comes to my health ,
scare me. When it comes to exercise I know it makes me feel better but I hate it. If we were neighbors I’d walk the hills with you.
Thanks buddy. 👍
I love your glasses. Could you share information about them. So happy you can solve this without medication.
The glasses are by Warby Parker and the style is Sonia. Good luck.
I missed you so much, lovely to see you again. Keep up the walking - I love your tours around your neighbourhood. I also love Yoga with Adrienne on RUclips, it really encourages you to breathe deeply and expand your lungs. You may want to try it.
Thank you so much! I just wrote it down.
Assume your doctor checked your iron. I was having the same issue & my iron, red blood count & hemoglobin were well below normal. I'm dealing with that now.
I just had a full blood test. 👍
😆 ohh Sandra…I am YOU and you are me😆. I’d have done the same thing..gone down that rabbit hole. Sure wish we could get all those tests immediately…the waiting is the worst🤦♀️. Thank you…you inspire all of us to get to p and get going❤
I'll try to keep on inspiring. For me and all of us. 👍
I am glad that it wasn’t anything serious with your breathing. Take care
Me too !!!!
This is exactly what has happened with myself! Tell me what did you do about the swallowing. Happy Fall y'all 🧡🎃🦊🧡 to you! Susie
I had a special prescribed drink. Then after about two weeks it healed.
❤🙏
Thank you.
❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏
Thank you. 😊
Fear and panic is what happens when I go down diagnosis -n- symptoms rabbit holes. My BIL refers to me as Dr. Chicken's school of higher medicine.
Ha! You're right.
So❤love❤you❤
❤️❤️❤️
Just been advised irradiation from breast cancer has burnt though to lung. Breathing terrible. Scared. 82 would never have had radiation if I had known. One of the 1% apparently. Be careful check everything.
🙏🏼 healing prayers for you 🙏🏼
So relieved to hear all will be well.
@@glenicelightly5402 It sounds like a mistake was made. But I'm not a physician so I don't know.
Why would you not educate and research health issues, good grief. You need to be pro active and learn about symptoms if you want to be in charge of your body.Stop panicking and start learning. Every single thing you said is also a viral symptom. You are lucky you got a Dr that knew what’s what.
I agree about knowledge but there are things we may not know that play a part. Thanks. 👍
